What have you done to your Superb III today?

@Colin170CR- nice work with removing the rear boot camera.

Just a note though - if u have curtain airbags, then u shouldn't b tucking any cables under the headliner as that will hinder the airbag deployment!!

I know u said the cable is not long enough, but the curtain airbags r now compromised.

I understand your concern.

I do have side curtain airbags which are located near the top of the B pillars. The rear dash cam cable crosses the top of the B pillar but is only just tucked in between the top of the seat belt trim & the roof lining. I do not feel it compromises the side curtain airbag which is located below the position of the cable cable. I've seen a few rear camera installation videos which have taken routes near A & B pillar airbags & in all cases the pro installers reckon if the bag was to deploy it would push any nearby cable out of the way. Skoda Superb airbag videos

The side airbags fire in a downward direction & away from where the cable is located near the top of the roof lining. That said if the cable were to be located directly over the top of a side airbag unit  then I believe there would be an issue but that is not the case here. If I had a bit more length on the cable I would have gone down, across & back up the B pillar seat belt trim to the rear door or, down to the floor & then to the rear, but unfortunately these options were not possible for me. I'm happy with the location of the cable as it is.

Rear seat heating? Control panel, not sure on the pointy thing though.

Rectal temperature probe for rear passenger comfort? 😆

For additional passenger monitoring exactly. Measures heart rate too.

Rear seat heating is one of them!

Is the pointy thing the remote release for the back seats?

Spot on.

This is gonna be a first for what i believe is anyone to do. The seat metal frame is different with/without the remote release so we are gonna wait and see how different once its stripped down completely, Ill document it all as i go.

So weve got:

-Heated rear seats

-Remote release rear seats

One more - the middle photo

What's the cost for all this rear seat passenger hemoroide inducing comfort?

I've got  heated seats all round in my L&K & they hardly get used. Only SWIMBO uses the front passenger one in the winter when the leather is a bit frosty.  Don't think the rears have ever been used in 4 years.

The rear seat heating is setting me back £100 in parts and of course my labour is free for me :D

I guess for that sort of cost it is probably worth adding for the additional comfort & as a resale feature when the time comes. I'd like to see see the install photos / story as it's something I might consider adding to our Karoq. The Karoq seats slid, tumble & can be removed so different to the Superb set up. Nonetheless the rear control panel & wiring might be similar so that would worth a look when you get around to it.

I take a whole bunch of photos as i go with my retrofits so ill have no problem sharing them with you. Karoq is on the MQB platform too so should be identical really.

Rear climate?

3 for 3, thats the last one yup!

This in itself is a very basic retrofit parts and wiring wise, doing 120m of additional wiring for canton compared to about 3m of wiring for the rear climate.

The fun part comes when the entire dashboard, heater box, centre console, steering column, scuttle panel, front seats and loads more need either removing or moving out the way.

Massive job timewise but should keep me busy for 2/3 days! Also gives me time to neaten up all my other wiring and retrofits that arent run perfectly behind the dashboard!

Couple of bits done recently...

DSG remap to stage 1 - Amazing difference. Super quick changes and very smooth. Combined with the Engine remap... Superb!

Rieger rear diffuser fitted.

Custom exhaust made... originally wanted all 4 exits to work, but the Massive Ad Blu tank wasn't going to allow. So have a fakey exit and a real one.

Upgraded the air intake to the Ram Air Pro version. I know it'll make minimal difference, I am aware of arguments for and against open cone/panel filters. But I like the sound, I like the look.

Which DSG remap did you go with?  Do you have the DQ250?  Also what Stage 1 ECU tune do you have?  Although do you have a diesel?

Morning, I have had both the engine and DSG remapped to stage 1 by Evolution Performance in Nottingham. Engine remap performed on a RR. No idea about the DQ250... It is a 2.0 Diseasel

Finally used the boot things after 5 years

Saw your car on Ross's YouTube channel today. Looks super awesome in the video.

intrigued on the rear climate, how simple that is...

I washed mine at the weekend and you can't tell. Will be filthy again if I get to go back to Helsinki this week.

Give me a few weeks, I’ll put some photos up as I do the job and you’ll soon instantly regret even thinking of the idea 😂😂

It had a wash but also fitted mudflaps and did a refurb of my wheels.

Can't believe the difference the mudflaps have made to reducing crap up the side of the car.

Oh and I replaced the wheel centre cap Skoda thingameejobbies

What did you do to them in particular? Must admit I don't see a huge difference (sorry )

I'd planned to snow foam/wash/strip wax/clay/polish and wax but I didn't have the energy so it's had a quick wash instead. Bit blowy here so I've mainly jet-washed myself.

Yeah sorry, I didn't post a before picture. Basically there was water under the lacquer and some areas had begun lifting quite a bit.

I've attached a picture showing what it was like in November

received_414455867083289.jpeg

... and now it's booked in for the lamp (lazer linear 18 elite) to be fitted next Thursday. Oh, and it's still snowing out at -3C.

Anyone got a video of their rear seat release from boot area in operation, i want to compare my retrofit.
