I have to say, that's a really tasteful mod. Those wheels work really well. Just need (much!) bigger brakes to set them off.

Bigger brakes???

Chucked a bucket of water over it. Three hours later this is the result.         Happy with that

Absolutely. They look decidedly puny in 19" rims, and in practice they perform that way too. Mine get decidedly hot and smelly on a cross country drive with 3-4 adults, you'd be daft to remap the car and leave them as standard. The larger discs front and rear that are used on the octavia vrs mk3 would work much better.

Lol 😂

I'm pretty sure the brake disc size (340mm) on the 280 Superb is the same as that on the mk3 vRS!!

Both front & rear discs r vented on the Superb.

The 220 Superb has the smaller 312mm disc size, with only the front vented.

As @JR RS said, the discs on 280 (206tsi here in OZ) are 340mm front, 310mm, both vented, same as mk3 VRS, MK7 Golf R.

However, I do find the new wheels make the brakes and disks look smaller now, especially the rear brake looks tiny. I never feel the same way before with OE wheels and 12mm spacers. Both new wheels and OE wheels are 19 inch.

I think it is because the new wheels are flow formed, which means thinner everywhere compared to OEM wheels. As a comparison, the brake and disc just lookes not as large as before.

Here are two pics, new wheel vs old wheel, both rear wheel.

I've got the 220ps version, so smaller brakes / solid rear discs. My 220 feels really quick, faster than my previous Octy 245 vRS

The wheels do make them look small....! Just shows how crap your eyes are at measuring dimensions.

Very nice. Can I ask what the rim specs are please. And no spacers?  Got a side on shot to show distance from guard?

and you have red brake calipers. Did you do this yourself as the sportline in Aus doesn’t come with these (much to my disappointment).

They are Koya SF10, 19x8.5,ET35. Tires are Falken FK510 245/40/19. I run rear camber at negative 1.3 degree. It is almost flush.

Yes, I painted the calipers myself. I use dupli-color caliper paint. It is a brush on paint.

Bit off topic but Skoda customer services have told me to do a clamp 15 cycle for 15 minutes . Does this mean disconnect the battery. I am asking as they take about a week to respond to each question and my issue has been ongoing for months.

Perfect fitment thanks.

IMO the brakes look bigger with the aftermarket wheels because of the stepped barrel.

Clamp/Terminal 15 is ignition live, they are saying leave the ignition off for 15 minutes and lock the car

Admittedly not as exciting as new brakes or other upgrades but I did fill it with petrol this morning (Tesco Momentum in case you wondered).

88 quid! 😲

I almost fainted.  Maybe next time I fill up I'll start a gofundme page

Are the fronts pretty much flush with the guard?  By my calcs they should be whereas the rears would have about 5-7mm inset from the face of the guard?

The fronts are not as flush as the rears. Since I lowered my car, the fronts run at -1.2 degree, which are a bit off OE alignment spec range. I believe it would be flush if you could keep the front alignment within spec.

did some more tuning with the sub in the new audio system... turns out someone had added bass boost. With that off and the gain turned up a tad, we are in business. Drops beautifully, highlights the super-deep bass on stuff like that NPR Ed Sheeran "tiny desk" gig or Daft Punk. Tidal also sounds significantly better than Spotify, too, which is a nice bonus.

I like different music to you, but give “Black Label Society - Lords of Destruction” a test, that’s my go to bass test song

Ok thanks. What lowered springs did you go with and how much did they drop your sportline by?

That couldn’t be a full tank at today’s prices. I put £95 of standard petrol in mine. So expensive

Just over 57 litres.

Eeep well I’m on 30miles left so it’s of to the petrol station for me too.

I really want to keep her on 99. Or 97. Driving it like a granny seems daft. Economic but daft.

I can’t bring myself to change for the sake of some big ticket fill ups. See today exon are doing a huge reinvestment in oil, 45%.  As the price is rich enough to get a return… so I don’t think it’s coming down anytime soon.

Tesco's Momentum is the cheapest super unleaded at the moment.  Usually costs me £90 - £95 once I'm on reserve.  I do miss my MK2 VRS for fuel economy as that was £60 - £70 a tank.

During the petrol panic I needed to fill up as I was on fumes and only 95 RON was available. There was a noticeable change in responsiveness after a while so I'm sticking to 99. Fortunately I don't do many miles (only 4000 in the last 12 months) so not a huge cost difference to previous diesel cars year on year.

Over Christmas I had to have a new battery fitted and strangely my fuel economy has improved by 2 or 3 mpg over the same routes. I can only put that down to the alternator being required less to keep the battery at the optimum condition.

washed it on the way home last night. Realised it's only the second time I've washed it and I've had it since October... and I've done 12000kms since then. Man, was it dirty.

Also realized I've destroyed front passender side mudflap with some snow, so I'll need to get a new one. Are there semi-flexible flaps as well or just the stiff ones?

I made a set of flaps using the RallyFlapz universal kit. They are thick rubber, so have some flex. Easily made too.
