What have you done to your Superb III today?

@Graham Butcher , @numskull - I had no issues with my MIB2 unit, I just wanted to update the firmware to the latest version, given I have a 6 yr old car.

After the update though, it does seem to b faster in doing things, like loading up.

According to the TPI, this firmware update will address the following customer issues, which I had none of.

I've had stored DAB radio station & logo's disappear from memory recently & the DAB radio reception is a bit sporadic in certain areas. Head unit is also a bit slow to get going on occasions.

Mine has to go in for an annual oil & service inspection in a few weeks so I'm wondering if the VAG independent can apply this update together with a few other coding changes. 🤔

Usually VAG independent garages will not have these updates.  They need a server that I doubt they will have to download these, I don't think they are ever sold to non-dealers.

You are best to find your Software Train and post image, and the firmware can be supplied.

Thanks JR.

So the TPW went off today on the NSR. When I got home, I found there was a large screw on the centre of the tread, which was good as at least it wasn’t the sidewall, which would’ve killed the tyre. I thought this was a bit weird, so I checked the other tyres and the bloody NSF also had the same type of screw imbedded in the tyre! So I went to a local indy tyre supplier and they repaired both punctures for £30.
Bit of a crappy week as I found a small but deep dent, which has removed the paint, at the bottom of the NSR door too. 🙄

Not so much what I've done to my Superb rather what it's done for me. I've driven over 2,000km through France and the car has done everything asked of it.  I tried to think of something that it could have done better and couldn't think of much.  It'd benefit from Bilstein B6s and self levelling shocks at the back would be nice but other than that it's been great.  5.63 l/100km or 50mpg measured brim to brim fully loaded on premium diesel.  The weather has been favourable so it looks reasonably clean considering.

Is France still safe?

Despite what the news outlets have reported, France wasn’t “unsafe”; the protests and rioting was restricted to a few small areas in Paris and elsewhere. Friends who live in Paris have said they’ve seen nothing of the issues.

I spent a few days in Paris last week. I saw some graffiti and the public transport system closed at 9pm but other than that, there was nothing untoward in the main areas and queues for the attractions were as long as ever. The trouble seems to be restricted to the more disadvantaged areas of some cities, especially now that the public transport system isn’t running at night which makes it harder for troublemakers to spread unrest.  There’s a lot of discussion on French television about it but it’s a lot less dramatic than the images on some TV and social media reports

TV images are showed in loop and frighten many people. It's now almost "as before".

The most nerving is that these guys don't have an ounce of brain. They've wrecked some schools or libraries, and sometimes burnt their own neighbors' car. Pure free ans blind violence... 🙄

They don't even realize, they're punishing their own friends, families, relatives, etc. who now don't have school or library anymore. It will take months / years to rebuild them. Some neighbors or relatives won't be able to go to work and may lose their job, now they've lost their car... 😬

I set up an action cam mount in my sportline 280. Will prove useful for my upcoming trip to Nurburgring...

Having no detachable head rests meant no convenient central clamp position so I made do with a sticky mount on top of the middle air vents. Quite handy as vents can be adjusted to blow cool air into the cam. Would help as action cams are prone to shut off when too hot. Tested it a bit and so far it's still sticking. Have a backup clamp for over the rear view mirror if it fails.

Also after a full 2 weeks, my brake parts ordered from Autodoc arrived. It's true what people say on forums. Don't order from Autodoc if you are in a hurry.

Quite impatient to see your Nurburgring track day video! 😃

Touristafarten... Not track day! I can't wait to see it myself too😂

Washed my car, just in time before it started to rain, and removed SUPERB and 4x4 badges - L&K badges next:

Also, earlier in the week I fitted full size 235/45 7.5jx18" - had to adjust some plastics and the foam spare wheel tool kit holder. Fits like a glove - a bit high though. Need to sort it out next.

Why would you want to debadge it? I know mine has been done by the previous owner, but I am considering restoring the L&K on the wings at least, it might affect it's resale value.

Probably not in Germany, almost everyone likes it clean.

Also, it cleans up better. I also removed everything on the outside of my L&K.

Inside, it's still on the dashboard and the leather seats.

I prefer a "cleaner/plainer" look. Also, as mentioned above, it is easier to wash/clean. Besides, it is just a Skoda, why any badges would make any difference? Even if it is L&K all bells and whistles. And I cannot see how this would affect resale value. Most likely I will not bother with private and will go trhough some trader - and they cannot care less, as long as miles are low and there are no dents/other damages. Still, the car is only 4 months old, so I will not worry about resale value yet :)

The L&K badges on mine have gone too.  They look like crappy cake decorations (as someone else said either here or on Facebook recently).

The Skoda, Superb and 4x4 badges will go next.  Prefer the cleaner look.  Also, as I am running a remap, the more Q-car I can get, the better.

In my case, I found there were too many badges on the back and it looked awful IMO. As for the L&K badges stickers well, they're just plain naff. As for resale it won't make a difference, as the L&K script is everywhere in the car; on the gear selector, the passenger side dash and on the four main seatbacks. I debaged it the first week after we'd bought it. I just like the clean look. And I like surprising the BMW drivers when they think "oh, its just a Skoda and probably a diesel "!

Yeah I can see a certain appeal in a Q car, if I could afford one when they being produced, have loved to have had a VW Phaeton as looked a lot like a plain old boring Passat to most people, while it was almost a Bentley under the skin.

Can someone please provide the part code for the hook frame indicated by the red arrow? I am specifically referring to the frame itself, without the inserts. I have been unable to locate the code, and I am wondering if it is included as part of the side cover?

@JR RS, Personally I'd thought it would have been better to over do the badging of the variant of the model rather than the model within the Skoda brand. Anyone who is a car enthusiast is going to instantly know that you are driving a Superb but not the which version of Superb it is?

That being said, I like what you have done with it, but equally I'm beginning to see the appeal of debadging as it does mean it is easier to clean. B)

No doubts a Superb!!

Change of tires with increase in measurement to 245/45/18, in Michelin Primacy 4. I discarded the 4+ since the improvement according to I have read is only wet and also has less thickness of rubber.
