Looks great but I bet the ride suffers, especially on potholes?

Maybe Germany doesn't have potholes?

They look good but I too would question the ride quality. So what rubber band profile tyres have you got fitted?

Can I ask what width rims and tyres dims you’re running please.

Rims are from the Enyaq.

Many also drive 20" from the Kodiaq. So it's nothing rare in Germany.
Of course you have to be careful, but it's no worse than at 19".

No description available.

New pads and rotors (waiting on rear pads to arrive towards the end of next week). All up around £460. Dealer wanted £720 to do just the rears (parts + labour) which was a laugh!!!

Nice wheels, but it should take too long to clean for me… 😁

saw how much bird poop it has on it after sitting for the weekend. This is ridiculous, they seem to hit that and nothing else. Literally 3 big splotches on the roof, more on the window and screen, and then a couple on the bonnet. A lot got washed off last night with the thunderstorm, but not everything. Still, it's been quite a few kms since the last wash (3000?) and I need the cameras to be able to read the plate, so a wash is in order. At least all the dust is off the rear again.

after driving from Göttingen to Frankfurt a couple of months back, I began to understand why a significant number of Germans have low profile tyres on their cars. Was some of the most difficult driving I've done in a while... There was a group of us, about 8-9 cars, all running at 150-170km/h (so around 90-100mph) and it was a challenge to keep up in the X1 with only 18" rims. Opened my eyes to the different requirements in different countries. Here it's frequently about gravel. Down there, high speed stability. The autobahn system is not as boring as the M54 or the E6, and deliberately so.

Bird poop is the bain of my life too. There's a cherry tree across the road from us & the birds gorge on the cherries & then dive bomb our cars with their acid laden poop. I've got a bucket of soapy water & soft brush outside the front door on permanent standby.

I have the same problem, there is a tree at the side of my drive, but its not my tree, and the councils and housing partnerships claim its not theirs either and if I park on my drive, I'll have many poops on it the next morning. I try to park outside my house on the road but my neighbour has 5 bleeding cars and vans and also try to park outside my house and if I get there first and then have to go out in the evening, they will move into the spot forcing me back on my drive. I only have the one car and like to leave the drive free for my son or the in-laws to use when they visit otherwise they have park in another street.

I sympathise Graham. Van drivers give me the hump too - I've got three of 'em parking outside my property, 2 x Openreach and 1 x Metworks and the owners all live on the next street and two of 'em are supersized Sprinter types with ladders on the roof.

Because of difficult drainage and limited driveway space I prefer to wash my Superb on the road but unless I can get back before the vans arrive I'm thwarted.

What really winds me up is when the jokers go away for a week or two and leave their own driveway empty and their bloody great commercials parked outside me. 😠

I have similar problems with my drive, my other neighbours front door is right next to my drive and if I pressure wash the car on the drive, I have problems washing the nearside as I need to go on their garden to do it, and also if the open their front door at the wrong time they get pressure washed as well. Also the other neighbour has a white Mercedes car double parked outside my house which hasn't moved now for 3 weeks.. I have another neighbour 3 doors along  who also has upto 4 cars and huge great green Mercedes van who also likes to park outside my house given the chance, I can't win.

Sounds to me like you two need to move to nicer areas 🤣

Yup, but at my age, I don't want to move any more, I can't be doing with all that stress and hard work, anyway, what is a nice area today could, tomorrow turn out just as bad as what we have today if the wrong people move in, so just have to keep on about the tree for me and hope that one of the authorities will eventually own up to it and remove it. It is an accident just waiting to happen as it is taller than the house and when we get gales, branches break off, the rest of the year we get pooping, leaves falling clogging all the bonnet vents and wipers and then in the spring we get all the bloody catkins dropping everywhere and getting trapped under the wipers blades 🤬

yesterday was the replacement of my front shock absorbers from the DCC system (96000 km on the clock). Indeed, they were leaking, unfortunately quite a common problem on our Mk3s,
€2,080 for the whole replacement package + front axle geometry adjustment.

what a crazy choice, same price covers Bilstein B6 DampTronic + Eibach Pro for both axles

that combination gives huge improvement.

four months ago i got brand new MY23 280ps with OEM DCC and now

i every day have been annoyed by too much softness,

compared to my previous MY16 220ps, on which i had Bilstein B6 DampTronic + Eibach Pro

With a TSI220 and even more with 280 your choice probably makes full sense.

Not that obvious with my TDI190 which I mainly drive on motorways. ;)

Even way way more cheaper, and an even better ride if u r able to get "DCC Mod (Arteon algorithm) + DCC recalibration + Eibach Pro-kit springs"

Completely transforms the car, for a fraction of the price, time and effort.

Best of all u get to keep all the other DCC dependent systems happy.

Win win :)

Is there any real noticeable difference between DCC settings? I use mine mostly in ECO mode but sometimes I select COMFORT but I have not noticed any difference in comfort. Plugging the VCDS in and it reports zero problems with the system?

Yup, considerable & noticable difference between the various DCC modes.

Eco is not a DCC mode.

Don't get confused with Drive Modes and Driving Profiles.

These r different things.

Factory DCC has 3 settings - Comfort, Normal and Sport.

DCC mod changes from 3 to 15 settings.  It also utilities the Arteon's algorithm mapping for compression and rebounds.  This is done by upgrading the DCC module parameters, and also upgrading the Gateway, so it enables the extra 12 maps.

So does that mean that when I'm in ECO mode, it is also in COMFORT DCC setting as that is the last DCC mode before the ECO or how does this operate?

You can, park on your own drive!

Your multi-car and van owning neighbours may have a different view of someone who has a drive but chooses not to use it.

Is there a garage beyond the drive?

I sympathise re the tree, that will affect many of you, I have just finished clearing my land and am leaving 2 mature trees (one a dead tree living) that in a previous life I would have felled, the shade is welcome and I accept the poop and leaves.

Every body in the street has a drive, the garage, having one or not is a red herring if your car will not fit in it as they are designed around the smallest cars and in my case a small car will not fit me or my family, people come in all sizes and shapes and its about time that developers understood that. As to the tree and also my house, my house is owned by a housing association and the tree I would therefore think is on their land and therefore theirs. I cannot just go and cut it down because I don't own it. The HA say that they don't own it or the land that it stands on, and neither does the City council or the County council, so someone is not telling the truth, but one thing you be sure off is that should I take the law into my hands and do something with the tree I'd be in trouble.

switch Driving Mode to Individual and change settings of Dynamic Chassis Control

with OEM equipment it gives bright difference between all modes, where Normal and Comfort are soft and extremely soft.

and i have two explanations why, not official:

a) hardware are primary developed for less weightier Golf

b) marketing department have requested softer springs to make brightener difference between modes

with Bilstein B6 + Eibach Pro difference between Normal vs Sport and Normal vs Comfort became almost unnoticeable

Comfort gives something similar as OEM Sport Minus

Normal gives something similar as OEM Sport

and Sport became as Sport Plus

Correct.

Going into ECO Driving profile doesn't change the DCC mode.

It will remain in whatever mode it was set to by the previous Driving Profile.

Hence if u were in Normal and change to Eco - DCC will remain in Normal.

If u were in Sport and change to ECO - DCC will remain in Sport.

ECO Driving Profile only changes the ACC, Drive mode, Xenon lights and AC.

It's all in the software - it determines the shocks characteristics.

Hence why the DCC mod is great because it changes the shock's characteristics by using the software algorithm from an Arteon which is similar in size, weight and shape as the Superb.

when I bought my car new, I was using Individual Driving Profile with DCC set to Sport, 100% of the time.

Couldn't use Comfort, and Normal wasn't great - too bouncy & wallowy, and would bottom out too much.

after I got the Eibach Pro-kit springs, I was using Individual Profile with DCC set to Sport 80% of the time.  I would use Normal Driving Profile other times, but car would still bottom out.  It wasn't as bouncy or wallowy though.

after I did the DCC recalibration, I was using Individual Profile with DCC set to Sport 30% of the time.  I would use Normal Driving Profile most of the time, as car was no longer bouncy or wallowy, and would rarely bottom out.

after I did the DCC Mod, I'm using Individual Profile with DCC set to Comfort 100% of the time.  The car is no longer bouncy or wallowy, at all, nor does it ever bottom out.

I now only switch to Sport Driving Profile if I'm doing spirited windy twisty roads.

It's amazing wat u can do with software.

APR have recently released a new product, which does a similar thing as the DCC mod, but costs 10x more.

It's their Suspension Control Module (SCU).
