What have you done to your Superb III today?

DSG service and brake fluid change carried out by the local VAG independent specialist. No obvious issues with DSG based on how the oil looks. Hopefully hasn’t suffered too much from missed services by previous owners. That’s now all the major mechanical servicing done so I’m happy I haven’t bought a complete lemon!

Check out VW Audi Workshop if you’re in the area!

Did they confirm that the DSG filter screen was cleaned?

Chucked a bucket of water over it. Three hours later this is the result.         Happy with that

DSG filter was changed.

Are you thinking about haldex filter screen? Mine is 2wd

That’s a wrap!

pause for applause and general mirth

A nice bit of morning sunshine and no plans with the family meant I could finally finish wrapping the passenger side chrome strip. The rear quarter light has some dings on the chrome from an unknown event with the previous owner so that took about 4 failed attempts to get right. Eventually got it looking good enough with the only tiny crease of the whole project.

It looks great from a distance, just don’t look too closely! As I say with a lot of my projects “Stevie Wonder would be pleased to see it”

IMG_1658.jpeg

Just the roof rails to swap out and then the full dechrome is complete. They require a guaranteed dry day so may be some time before I attempt that!

Yes. It would have been A LOT easier if I did but I just wrapped along the chrome and tucked/cut in around the mirror base as much as possible. I have no idea how well it will last but it cost me about £15 and a few hours to do so no major loss of it doesn’t last too well.

nice job, now you need to find some shelter and waste half of your day with roof rails :D but it will be worth it !

Ive got the week off next week and weather is looking good so hoping to get on it then. Also need to do front brakes which are probably more of a priority but will see what time I get.

I think I've updated my MIB2 to the newest version in prep for the mib2.5 upgrade.

Investigate my no DAB stations issue. Cables all plugged in. I guess in the right places?

look ok to me. DAB is the black one top left in the photo and easily snagged when putting the unit back in. Do you have any cheap USB chargers plugged in? They were knocking out my DAB signal. Bought some slightly more expensive ones from amazon and it solved the issue.

I'm thinking of doing the MIB2.5 upgrade at somepoint but the screens seem really expensive. Where did you get yours from?

oh, this one? It was a bit snagged. I didn't know which cable was which - I'll give that a good wiggle.

I got the screen from a breaker on ebay for £190. The touch screen on the old one is annoying me already.

That's right, the 9.2" from the Superb costs an average of €400.

@nick6262 Thats a great price. Annoyed I missed that one!

Definitely one for the long list I think.

Is the 3V0919605D screen with touch buttons on both sides MIB3 only?

it was listed as the wrong part no on the advert. 3C0919606D but was actually a 3V0919606D

Attempt did not go well. Ended the evening with the car stuck in a boot loop and then I gave up.

Will try another SD card tomorrow and then maybe have a little cry.

Today I baked myself on my one hour commute home from the office.

It turns out the air con doesn’t work. That’ll teach me for buying a car in winter.

Called kwikfit en route and managed to get it booked in for a regas tomorrow.

Curiously it started blowing ice cold about 2 minutes from home! I’m now questioning my sanity as to whether the ac button was enabled! Oh well won’t hurt to have the gas changed anyway.

Took all the wheels off for a good clean and wax for his 10th birthday

For his 11th birthday I’m thinking of getting wheels refurbed.

I’ve got Sirius wheels but thinking not to get them diamond cut like original and just get them fully resprayed in its normal silver colour.

I know people have done this but anyone regretted it? Tbh sometimes I can hardly tell it’s diamond cut as mines not the anthracite + diamond cut, quite a difference in refurb cost too

iIve always got my alloys (Seat Exeo) powder coated, if youre anywhere near Birmingham ( B5 5RF) check out https://www.citywheelrefurbishment.co.uk/ (they are also on Insta & FB)it looks like their pricelist hasnt been updated but it cost me £190 to get 4x 18" alloys refirbed in a standard colour (silver) in Jan 2025 i used to drop them in and leave them there but there is a same day option

Not today, but finally found the way how to convert seat unit from 5Q0959760B/C/D/E/F to 3Q0 with lumbar massage

About an hour of soldering, then firmware, and we get a unit with a massage

I had my vega wheels on the Superb recently powder coated by Alloyfix in Romford, they did a really great job and at a good price, I would highly recommend. The wheels look a lot better than the original diamond cut. I went for a dark satin charcoal grey, the car colour is business grey. Alloyfix ave some offers on this weekend that looks pretty good.

Air con recharge. £75. Now ice cold and no leaks detected. IMG_1753.jpeg

That's a good price! Think ours was £100 for our Kodiaq at a local place

Yeah I was pleased with the price. This was just a big standard kwik fit. Also please they could fit me in so soon as lots of people will be realising their air con doesn’t work this week I think

Price depends on the age of the car ans therefore what gas it uses. Mine was the older type R134a. Our kodiaq is the newer type R1234yf and that is £135.
