I presume you have a Columbus - Amundsen works off an external SD Card that is storage limited!

As I have already stated previously It is my opinion that Map 6 includes France, Germany and Spain and the map description may be incorrect. Only one way to find out - give it a try! I may be wrong though.

Ahh Gotcha.

Ok folks CROAT here, I need in one map Croatia, Germany, Montenegro, Austria, Bosnia, Serbia, Slovenia, Italy Well countries who are close to my country and now i cant do it anymore.

I have old Skoda Card:

On my NAVIGATION SD CARD i have following info:

EUROPE 1 (CW45/2017)

EUROPE 1 (KT 45/2017)

EUROPE 1 (KW 45/2017)

5L0 051 236 AD

And now i cant update all just particles of EUROPE?

So now Croats cant have close by countries every trip i should download different maps...

And this is CLEVER?

NOT!

What update are people downloading? From the official portal I am still getting ECE 2019 update (which makes sense timing wise after the previous 2018/2019 update and the 2018 update before that etc etc)

It seems a bit early for the ECE 2019/2020? I'd be expecting that half way through 2019

I've got a choice of 7 ECE 2019/2020 maps, as per this screenshot. Only 3 of the maps cover the UK, though. ECE 1 suits my current needs.

I tried to hack together a map matching the previous version and unfortunately did not succeed...

I have on my card all the maps - needed to leave out a couple I will really never use - but it only took the configuration for the last package I pasted, so it doesn't know the other maps are there and, I suspect it won't access them.

This is an idiotic move by VW that affects all cars from the group...

I have never seen the map split before, but thinking about it I have only dealt with Columbus/Discover Pro etc makes sense to squeeze ever bigger maps on a card.

I'm curious, Those updating ECE1, ECE2 maps etc etc to 2019/20 what was the previous update? ECE1 2019 or ECE12018/19

I suspect some units are only updated once a year. If you are going from 2018/19 to 2019/20 missing out 2019 then it looks like a yearly cycle not 6-monthly

Here's a screenshot of my previous downloads. Basically 6-monthly updates, nominally April and November. So most recent one was 2018/19.

But that is my point. have you downloaded 2019? or gone 2018/19 straight to 2019/20?

I have just downloaded 2019, I'm not expecting 2019/2020 until next year

Ah right, I see your point.

I've just downloaded 2019/20; previous one was 2018/19 (August 2018). So I have skipped 2019 altogether.

As above, I had 2018, then 2018/19 and it now shows 2019/20. I suspect the date stamp is incorrect on the MIB2 Amundsen maps.

The notion of splitting the maps is one that must have come from a liquid lunch, it doesn't make any sense at all.

I'm leaving it, my new car will arrive in February and I'm not going anywhere in the EU until March, so not much point in doing any further updates to it and if I want the UK, I'll use Mk1 brain + knowledge or trusty Garmin/smartphone.

Sounds like they may be hitting capacity limits on the Amundsen necessitating splitting the maps down. The Columbus is still getting the full map set. Don't even get the option to pick different maps with MIB2 Columbus/Discover Pro

This. It was bound to happen at some point due to the tiny SD the Amundsen has and the maps getting bigger.

I'm guessing the original SD card with the maps on the for the Amundsen are the only ones accepted? No chance to clone it to a larger replacement

Correct, has to be a genuine Skoda Map SD card. You can't use a generic SD and copy the files over.

Not unless someone can crack the encryption that Skoda uses/used on the cards.

Makes complete sense.. You would think they'd start to provide larger official cards

It'll be interesting to see what mapping comes with MY19 cars and how do they decide what mapping you have installed?

How does anyone who does long distances deal with crossing from one area to another, which would require two separate maps? :wondering:

Short of removing the card and sticking it in my computer how can I check?

Somewhere in the nav settings on the car there is a way to find out the map version. Can’t quite remember off the top of my head

I'll have a look next time I have a chance, probably won't touch the car until the weekend :) my wife who uses it most during the week isn't interested in this stuff in the slightest she just wants the car and nav to work lol she probably hasn't even realised it's had its own internet hotspot for a couple of weeks sat in the boot :) Google poi lookups make the built in nav work now.

I'll report back asap on the maps I have.
