Did your car have the big sound package

I was going to ask if anyone had fitted one these units in a car with the "sound system" (L&K extra speakers and amp)

Also does anyone know if the skoda sound system is the same as DYNAUDIO or how ours could connect to one of these units?

I have some more info.

The part number of the skoda sound system amp is 5C6 035 456

It is a 10 channel AMP manufactured by Panasonic.

Whether this is a dynaudio amp I still do not know,

?

It's coded in VCDS as Skoda Sound System, and isn't the same as Dynaudio. However, the principle of trying to connect to the OEM sound systems is all the same, you'll hit issues unless you're prepared to find ways to make it work.

@scootie @superbdreams  no Sound System in mine as OEM, i think if you search around on here there is a thread regarding the SS?  poss the Xtrons thread?

TBH if i had it fitted i wouldn't have gone this route, not a Plug and Play between the 2.

2gb RAM seems sufficient, no different to a phone, just close anything not used and keep an eye on what Apps you install. as it's permanently 'charged' there is no power drain as such, i've not noticed any drop in performance on the few times i've used it?

regards the compromise...lower end, no, lowest end of market it ain't gonna be perfect but is a £6-700 premium brand one any better, probably have small issues to some people

i'll update as and when if there are any quirks/issues

I would of went this route as I prefer Android but having the Sound System in mine put me of:blink:

There has to be a way!

I have read on another thread that if the amp is powered down for over half an hour it will respond to canbus ignition on and off commands.

I assume that this would remain the case until Columbus sends a power toggle signal.

If true, the output of the head unit (pre amp raw stage) need only to be connected to the input of the amp.

are you brave enough for the New Frontier?    :worried:

out of interest where is the amp if installed? under a seat i assume?

Edited by olduns

under the passenger seat.

it has occurred to me now that even if the amp will turn on with the ignition there would be no way of adjusting the speaker fade and balance, un reality this isn't a major concern.

i don't have one then.....

Yes, my ES7815V unit is a 4Gb one, but it is Android 8.0 rather than 8.01.  Personally I'd rather have the extra memory and the Octacore CPU.

Surely being an android unit it will update itself to 8.01 and above?

Only if the headunit developer releases an update :)

probably just as well IMO. I have found only less not more with android updates on my phone.

change for change sake it seems.

a few months and a few more rambling's.....

now using Sygic as the Nav...few issues which are now sorted, mainly syncing PC to Unit. seems the pre-installed SD card version wouldn't connect to servers, which meant the Traffic sub i had wouldn't work on the HU but was OK on tablet.

downloaded straight to HU and appears to be OK.

I've had to create Playlists on the Music card, got sick of having to constantly change the folder.

no issues with the unit itself just the user

That's good to know. I'm on the verge of ordering one. Are you saying that the unit doesn't jump to the next folder and instead just replays that folder

it appears so, i'm sure my phone does the same?

add to Q rings a bell on Android phones/tablets

i 'may' have missed a setting somewhere, i know i've seen shuffle etc somewhere

Maybe it's the norm. I think even on the Columbus I have to say "next folder". Did you have to code the unit with vcds at all?

no coding, just unplug the BT module under the seat if fitted

a few more months down the line.....all going swimmingly.

well, apart from it throwing a wobbly after stopping atA28 M'way services on Thursday just North of Alencon.

started up, all working, Nav fired up, joined motorway and then nothing but the illuminated buttons at bottom of surround.

5 mins later it decided it wanted to reboot completely, OH panic and presses buttons left, right and centre.....result?  full reset from scratch 🙄

luckily not too many apps on there, managed to load Nav back on whilst S-i-L uses the car whilst visiting UK, others can wait until next week, i'll check if it's gone full updates or reverted to as was?
