6CD changer from SE in LE

Featured Replies

Just bought some leather seats that came with the 6CD changer under passenger seat. I was going to sell it and have 2 under seat storage boxes but my mind is not made up yet. Can this be easily wired up to the Symphony radio which already has a 1CD capacity? Thanks

Ummm, I think you're rolling your own loom to connect them. NFIdea if changer takes power solely from the h/u.

I have an ipod under the dash which is connected to the Symphony and it mimics the CD changer. The ipod is charged from the Symphony and is contolled by it to a certain extent. It is plugged in to where the CD changer would be I got the kit about 10 yrs ago and this is the second Fabia it has been in.

There is a purple several pin connector. Is the Symphony in an SE different to an LE?

There are 2 sets of 'forward' and 'rewind' buttons on the symphony, quick forward and reverse and forward next track and back next track.

Would these controls allow next CD to be changed also?

Do you have 6 CD's to use with it or is this a theoretical exercise in 90's industrial archaeology?

Seriously, it's far more trouble than it's worth, like those crapulent maxidot displays this is a part of motoring history best left behind with 8 tracks and radio cassettes.

More importantly, does he have the CD cartridge?

If you want to remain OEM look and have access to more storage, then a Connects2 USB or a Chinese knockoff can emulate a CDC to allow USB, uSD (maybe) or wired AUX-in. (EDit: And apparently Bluetooth).

These days the more connected option is a mechless h/u with USB and Bluetooth audio. £70-£80 for the h/u and some other few £s for an aerial booster (assuming you ever use the radio).

I guess I'm behind the curve. I was using tape cassettes in my Xantia till 2008 when I sold it. CDs are relatively new to me. All relative really...

You are probably right though.

Would this mean replacing the symphony unit or add on? Thanks

PS Radio gets a fair bit of use.

That would be replace, h/u being head unit. A bluetooth add on doofer for the existing h/u that mimics or replaces the CDC would be £70-£lots.

The add-on bluetooth interfaces seem to add USB and 3.5mm jack aux-in too.

TBH unless it's paramount or essential that it looks standard, grab a £70-£90 JVC or similar mechless head unit and an aerial booster.
