Literally just plugged everything and in re-seated it all. Then it hasn't turned on, doh! Going back through it see if I've missed anything, I'm not best at stuff like this!..

Don't say that, mine came yesterday, going to fit it in Wednesday when I'm not working and kids aren't around.

  • The job is never finished until you leave DNA behind!

  • Small update as have now gone back in and put a generic external microphone in place. I opted not to put it behind the trim where factory one is as it's blanked off on driver side and didn't think it

  • That screen to map out the steering controls is identical to that on mine.   If you did want to add DAB to it by the way then I can highly recommend the rear amplifier and splitter option.

Tbf I probably shouldn't have decided to try it at 9pm in the dark using phone torches!.

I'll give it one last go tonight take it apart and back together 🤞

Android unit still had no power the 2nd time, so I've put the original back in for now. Original one works so don't think an internal fuse gas gone.

I need to check the android units fuse in case that's blown, I didn't disconnect car battery during installation. Failing that I'll sort another from supplier I guess.

Quick one for you @FUBAR was there anything I was supposed to do with the power connector that plugs in to back of the original screen?

From memory ish I think all that was in back of original screen was the cable going to the unit in glovebox and not plugged into anything. The big block connector carries the power etc, make sure all plugs in back of new stereo are fully pressed in they can be quite stiff. When ignition turned on with new screen in try pressing the power button, holding the power button and the pin hole reset button too of course remove and check the mini blade fuse in back of unit first, ideally change it to rule that out even if it looks fine too. I never disconnected the battery I just ripped all out and fired new one in.

So, tried to install mine this morning, I don't have enough give in the power cable to switch this bloody thing on.

All my power was going into the cd unit in the glove box, need about an inch more to get the stereo to slide into place and actually work

Are these universal, could I pick them up from anywhere?

I'd think so, but can't be 100% sure. Some folk who had bother getting cable to reach got an extension sent out by seller for free. Mine is tight but JUST reaches my loom stops at exact same place but there are a couple of ways to route it though into centre console really need lower glovebox cover fully off to see can be passed through by hand too. Mine only plugs into back of screen with screen offered up and just enough space to get hand in from the top and press the connector in, first way I passed it through looked the most logical and easiest but it wasn't enough. LHD have a much easier time of it.

Hopefully it's fine, the lowere part of the glove box was off, that was the surround where the cd player sits, didn't want to go disconnecting the airbag buttong and stuff.

I can't seem to see any other way of feeding the loom through, it's tight to the right hand column, no more to play with.

Had thought about going back to seller, but in all honesty, I need it working for Friday as I'm taking the car to Wales. Wife has a VW Golf but my golf clubs won't fit in properly haha.

I can't see how that xtron loom extension won't work tbh. Need to at least give it a go.

Definitely more than one way, I had to start again to get the extra tiny amount I needed. Airbag switch is no problem even with battery still connected as long as the ignition is turned off while its unplugged. It you turn it on, just means the light comes on and must be reset. 2gb/32gb one could simply have plug holes in back in a different place, I cannot recall the layout of mine.

As @FUBAR was saying there should be just enough room to plug the power in while your holding the unit a couple inch from the dash. It looked like you had it in that position on one of your pics?

If you put your hand inside the empty space where you're previous head unit was. Just inside to the left is a few holes that lead to the area above the glove box, you'll feel the one nearest is bigger than the others to feed cables through there.

As for mine, I managed to get the unit powered on. Turns out it is cutting out when the canbus connector is plugged into the head unit, not sure why? I was thinking maybe the + and - are the wrong way round. (culprit below)1684053219_PXL_20211003_1541116212.thumb.jpg.508dc7b8562c7a64d3f006ba9eb097fe.jpg

So for now, everything works bar all the trip computer information stuff, which is a pain. I'll be asking the seller for a new harness and connectors I guess. Looks great when it's in though!

Did anyone settle on a preferred launcher? Tried the car launcher free which is ok... Can't decide whether it's worth trying the pro one 🤔

Sorry forgot to reply last night, this is the one I am using more or less since the start now after trying a few others and quickly moving on. Like the look of it it's very clean, clear and customisable. Think it might have been paid for, but I really like it. If I hit radio it doesn't bring up radio, which is not something ive ever tried more than once as I NEVER listen to FM while driving personally. For the full on car settings they didn't come up in the app drawer for any of the custom launchers I tried only in the stock one that came on the unit (I suppose it's quite specific to it, not an actual android app as such). So if I ever need to go into those settings I would simply hit settings shortcut on home screen and change launcher to original one to go into them. This is something I only have had to do once the other day when I adjusted tyre pressures and thought I best reset the TPMS thingy and worked perfectly.

Downloaded it and I must say I quite like it. Simple and easy to navigate with decent customisation.

Regarding the reversing camera, bearing in mind I'm a complete novice when it comes to electronics especially..

I've managed to wire mine up at the back, boot handle fits nicely, wrestled with the tailgate trim and eventually overcame the wiring from back, through headlining to the front. I wired the camera in by connecting it to the rear wiper + and - (deciphered from YouTube vids and FB group posts).

My last hurdle is in regards to wiring it in to the android head unit. Specifically, which wire do I connect the red loose wire from the RCA to? Any help would be awesome 👍

By red wire from the RCA I assume it's a small red cable with no plug on end that runs through the same insulation as the RCA plug (in pic below)? If so, that's meant to be your positive line that goes into a wire in back of stereo then use any ground at back for the negative so when reverse is selected it then powers the camera (there is a specific line on back of stereo labelled for this). Wiring it to rear wiper circuit directly will mean at all times that the ignition is in the on position, the camera is actually on and fully powered up. That in itself won't be any real issue as long as the filter box has been used of course, but it will be more run time on the components themselves. Mine is live all time ignition is on too as that red line seemed so thin I didn't want to use it, if it dies I will use it on the next one though.

Yeah that's the same camera I've purchased. I had a look last night at back of stereo for a line labelled for camera, can't see anything other than the yellow female for RCA. Can I attach this red positive cable that runs through RCA to the red cable on the stereo power?

Is the filter a must, as I didn't attach it 🤔

Camera does work right now without the red cable attached to + behind the stereo, but I can tell the picture isn't right

Pic may not be clear if filter not used, camera life may be reduced also. Can't remember the label but there is one might be attached to the actual yellow plug on radio end that plugs into back of stereo itself?

Received my extended iso harness today, stereo fitted and working well.

Only thing is, I don't have the menus set like @FUBAR does which is quite annoying. Is that a custom launcher that is set up.

Other thing is, car looks set up as LHD as when my passenger door is open,  the info screen shows it as the driver door?

Any ideas. When I was looking at the Bluetooth section, another person's Bluetooth details were in it, could have possible been for testing, but. Thinking a full factory reset might be on the cards.

Launcher I use is linked a few posts back. You need to go into canbus settings on stereo to change it so correct door shows opening. China production lines tend to actually test the items and it's quite possible it's connected/paired to a device for this reason.

Yeah, I think possibly I've selected the wrong canbus setting. They told me to use RZC or raise option??? I've lost my locking beeps and don't know how to get it back up lol.

Was it the Agama launcher you were using. I've got that just now and seems OK tbh.

Yea go into RCZ then pick the golf one in there for the correct platform. In settings you can then set to invert doors etc. Agama one is the one I am sticking with still, not perfect but I like the look of it and can make it all Skoda looking with logo and colours etc. Shouldn't loose things like locking beeps from stereo being just plugged in, it can't change anything unless you ask it to. Beware though if not set to right canbus mode signals from anything you operate on the controls could be inadvertently tied to something else and change things that way.

So, jumped into the car this morning to sort this, and I don't have RCZ option, only Raise which is the one that is on however paying more attention to it, it is for a Tiguan Hybrid.

Going to drop them a message on Ali Express see what they say.

Hi,

I have a question regarding the parking sensors.

On the stock amundsten, when you turn the wheels, you have the lines that curve on the screeen and they let you know if you will pass or not.

is it the same on theis device?

Thanks

Ive noticed that on the 'Raise' Canbus setting, it gives you the lines and the curve.

As mentioned before, the RZC one isn't there. Ebilaen are saying to use Raise but I only get the following options.  (Excuse the fingers)

Which spec one was that again? Looks like one to avoid by sounds of it, totally different interface to mine.
