Fabia mk2 light switch not working

Featured Replies

Hi friends,

in my wife's Skoda Fabia (MK2  my2013  1.2 TSI) I have a problem with the light switch:

if I put the switch in the first step -position light- nothing happens, no light from front and rear bulbs even the dashboard lighting doesn't turn on

if I put it in the second step -low beam- everythings works regularly as well as the fog lights and the rear fog light.

No bulb error in the dashboard when the switch is in the first step -position light- even if nothing is turned on; the daytime lights turn off regularly when the switch is in the first step.

I also tried with a friend's switch that the has same car but the problem still remain.

I checked the fuses and are ok. Could it be a relay problem?

Thank you.

Nope, it'll be the switch itself, it's easy to replace as well, simply twist the knob the opposite way to release it and pull it straight out of the dash.

Dunno if they said that correct but it sounds like they swapped the switch with another car and it still does the same fault! The other thing to try if that is so, is try YOUR wife switch in the other car so you know if it works properly. Don't just try one the wife's but swap around completely...

I could try to change car and wife, maybe I could solve it .. but that's another story, better not tell her!
I called the mechanic in Skoda, he says it could be a problem with the comfort control unit; when I find the time I'll go to the dealership

Did I read this right? Are the garage actually suggesting wife swapping as a fix for a light switch?
