Infotainment System Restarting endlessly

Featured Replies

Just taken it out for a quick zip along the A25 and A3 and back, sure enough the servicing faults seem to have disappeared, just leaving the manual not installed, but all is good, logged the phone into the car, which normally triggers a restart, nothing.

No manoeuvre brake unavailable or hill start faults or park distance issues either, reversing camera works perfectly well too.

So I'd like to say a very big thank you to varooom for supplying the firmware and ridding my car of faults. 🤝

PS. Got the manual to download? 😉 🙂

  • I had so many spontaneous reboots this week with even 4 occurring on the same day that the infotainment system was practically unusable. That’s why I decided to go ahead and install 1941 yesterday.

Got a servicing error and manuals are missing, hopefully they will get an update and clear themselves. But everything else seems to be working fine, haven't tested with my phone & AA yet though.

The manuals should install once it's made a deep cycle, it will fail each time if you just step out of the car for a few minutes. I learned that myself during the last two days. Let it sit overnight and try again tomorrow. Is it giving you the code saying "ERR_1601_DM_IN"?

Hi everyone, same problem here. Sw 1896, MY2020. Only problem i had is boot opened warning on reverse camera, nothing on VC, annoying, nothing big. I will describe it in new topic. So dealers did some update for that in the past year and finaly i came to cursed 1896 and rebooting madness started. From then i visited dealer multiple times, they rebooted sw first time, no help. Second time they told me that they gonna change multimedia. Third visit they did that, but factory sent replacement part with even worse 1668 sw which i had on new car and it was terible. So, today finaly "newest" sw is installed and i was so happy, entered in my car an bang, reboot at dealer parking, then i checked and it was 1896🤨. So they told me i have to schedule again for multimedia replacement, AGAIN. ALL of this is done from Skoda factory, they are leading the case, dealer is just remote hands for everything. Is this possible there is no newer sw for some contries? Is my "old" car from 2020 problem? I showed them TPI and they sad that it only saying to upgrade to 1896. So i dont want to vaste my time anymore. Probably i'll do it myself. So can you please provide me download link via PM? If it is posible to install it on my car in first place...

Yes, you can go straight from 1896 to 1941. Ask @varooom for the link.

Just done the update. All went flawlessly 🎉 took a car for a quick spin. Systems seems to be snapper, very evident on reversing camera as now it is instant. Seems that sound setting bug is gone! That one annoyed me most. Will see how it goes further.

Hi. Jorgeminator.

I think that's the error code thingy, it shows up, it says to take it to the dealer to have it installed, but TBQH I'm not likely to use the manual anyway, but if it installs itself then all well & good.

But it most certainly is working as the car should have from day 1.

I just hope that skoda don't issue any further software updates that corrupt this one.

Someone at the factory will be scratching their head wondering about the sudden surge of 1941 updated cars connecting to the servers 😁

If they'd done the job properly in the first place then the server wouldn't have any problems with the load.

That's precisely what mine said. Installed fine today after being left alone for the night. I couldn't care less about the in-car manual, but the notification popping up at every start annoyed me.

Thanks @varooom! I will download it now but i will wait few days to install, my friend told me he is gonna check is there any chance to get 1941 via dealer so i can keep my warranty. There is a chance they can download it from portal by name, program number, from TPI file provided here, without TPI name. My hopes are low, bu i'll wait for a few days. It is valid until septembar 2024, not so short period.

Read this wonderful post by @Jorgeminator if you look at the top, you will see the top few lines are "Customer findings/statements" if you state a few lines from here, that should in theory trigger them to find the correct TPI... but as I have mentioned before, some dealers are poor on training and not everyone seems to be able to do these basics.

Tried that, no result. This is the newest, never heard of enything else, MIB replacement again... But this second dealer might help, i'll wait for now.

If you download the file, then at least you have in hand

Yes, i sent it already to dealer and with that info they will try to handle my case. So even if i dont have to install sw by myself this forum saved me anyway with TPI file🙂

Just thinking @varooom, can I get a link to the download?

The VRS service is a while off and I was going to get it updated then. However, if they "can't", I'd like the option to do it myself

Done

Update done yesterday without any problem. Since then not a single restart of the infotainment in some 6-7 short journeys I had. Until the update, it was about 50:50 chance of reboot right after starting a car. It's probably still early to be 100% sure, but it seems the problem is finally solved! Thank you varooom!

@varooom I would like to update too, could you share the link when you get a chance please. Thank you so much for helping us all.

Plug in the USB before you start the ignition. Report back if it works.

Hey guys I am from Bulgaria and I have my Octavia since 6th April 2023 and the problems started from day two - all the things that are mentioned before from most of you - monouver brake, SOS module, no sound, restarting every minute, parking assistance. After 5000km and 5 times in the service I saw in the forum about the latest update 1941 that most of you already have. I thought that is going to be the pill that will heal the system. Yesterday I took the car from shte dealer with the latest update 1941 and everything was fine since tomorrow morning... All the same ****. I am ****ed off and I want to smash this ****ty infotainment. I really don't know what to do anymore... I am sorry that the language of the car is in bulgarian but the numbers talks about themselves...

And this is my sad (angry) story about infotainment reboots.

3 weeks ago the restarts started, a black screen after starting the engine that would turn on after a few minutes of driving. The restarts were several times during the drive. I have noticed that the vehicle warns that its battery is low after sitting overnight. The regular service, oil and other things, was scheduled for June 16, 2023 at Škoda's service center. I alerted them to the existing problem. At the end of the service, I was informed that they had checked all the systems and that everything was ok.

And that was the prelude to disaster. The next day, 17.06.20023, just a day after the service, after unlocking the vehicle, a warning that the battery is empty. Attempt to start the vehicle, unsuccessful, ligh show on dashboards and total shutdown of the vehicle. Roadside assistance call, ignition via booster. Driving for over an hour to charge the battery.

06/18/2023 same thing. I just managed to unlock the vehicle and that was the end of it. Roadside assistance again, but now with transportation to the Škoda service center. You had to see the confusion and disbelief of the service employees. The vehicle remains in the service, they check everything and install a new version of the software in 1941 (the old one was 1896). And nothing has changed. Occasional reboots. One day it reboots, the next it doesn't. Even today, it's a disaster. The battery is so empty that the vehicle cannot be unlocked.

I think I know what's causing it, but I'm not sure how to fix it. When the infotainment starts to restart, it does not stop shutting down the vehicle, it continues. Recently, there is no logout message when I turn off the vehicle.
Today is a non-working day and I can only call the service tomorrow. I would prefer to put it under a hydraulic press. This is my fourth new Škoda and never more. I'm angry, annoyed.

Sorry for the long post, the sequel will follow :(

@Popovski Sorry to hear that you are getting bad experience with the 1941 version, but without a scan of the car, it is hard to say what is causing you trouble.

I presume there is a factory reset option for the MIB3, so have you done this yet?

@Rimac1970 Similar words to yourself, with the added news that there are IIRC some TPI documents that talk about battery drain, and maybe your dealers have not bothered to apply this fix.  I believe you have a 12V battery that does not always get charged when it should be, so will cause many troubles you describe.

varoom

Yes, I have a 12v battery and I drive enough to charge the battery. I have recordings where after the vehicle is turned off and locked, the infotainment still works as if the vehicle is running.
