Infotainment System Restarting endlessly

Featured Replies

Try switching the car radio from DAB to FM. Even if you're using bluetooth or android auto, the DAB selection in the background can still cause issues. No idea how that works, but I had crashing software for a year before I fixed it with this change.

A software update made no difference, and Skoda Garage mechanics blamed it on a specific IOS problem, even when I told them I don't have an iphone lol. The DAB fix came from a sales representative who told me lots of customers had my issue, but didn't seem to after separate repairs removed their DAB antennas - a solution found by coincidence. I found that just switching the radio to FM fixed it.

  • I had so many spontaneous reboots this week with even 4 occurring on the same day that the infotainment system was practically unusable. That’s why I decided to go ahead and install 1941 yesterday.

Hi, could you please share the download link for version 1941 (MOI3_EU_SK_R9410L)? My car is currently stuck on version 1803 and mibsolutions.one is down

I believe that the restarting is a symptom that can be caused by a fault on several units. In my case it would do it after 30 seconds, after about 5 or 6 reboots it would stay off until I held down the button to reset. I booked it in to a dealer, the earliest appointment I could get was 8 weeks later in spite of being within range of 4 dealers in North London. When the appointment was eventually reached they had the car for 3 days, replaced the USB port and charged me just over £600. It seems to be ok now. The map update I had been unable to do before worked so I guess the USB port had been on the way out for a while

I have a 2021, which I’ve owned for just over 2 years. My car came with 2 free services when I purchased it. During my 2 years of ownership my infotainment occasionally crashed and had various other software glitches.

When my car went in for its last service, last month I mentioned about the problems I was seeing. The chap on the service desk mentioned that rebooting can resolve some issues, which they did whilst the car was in the garage. I was told that any further investigation would need to be arranged at a cost of £100+ per hour.

I must admit my problem has worsened since the last software update, and my infotainment crashes every time I use Google Maps using CarPlay.

The car is fine and I have no other complaints, but the frustration is causing me to consider changing my Octavia for something less troubling.

I completely understand how frustrating it is when the infotainment behaves likes this.

These issues are well known and understood, so the Skoda dealers do know how to fix this. It's frustrating that it keeps coming up on the forum that dealers want £100+/hour to "investigate" something they already know about.

It might be worth raising this with the Skoda Executive Office. I recently had good success with them in getting a load of software updates issues paid for. My argument was that the issues were well known, and had been for several years. And they agreed to help. It did take a while to get to that point, but may be worth persisting.

Hello Sultana,

I'm so sorry to hear you've been having trouble with your Octavia.

Besides the infotainment glitches which you mentioned, have you experienced any loud short 'crack' sounds, like a pistol shot or a small stone hitting the windscreen, just before the infotainment system crashes? Also have you had any problem with the infotainment screen or radio spontaneously switching themselves on, even if the car is parked and locked? Have you occasionally been unable to switch the radio off at all?

If you have, then the problem can only be cured by changing the infotainment screen. Skoda had manufacturing faults with early screens and introduced a revised screen which cured the problem. The screens look identical but later models have a different data label on the back of the screen.

JamesK's advice is sound. I followed much the same route as he did, and eventually, after three and a half years and relentless complaining, Skoda changed my infotainment screen under (extended) warranty.

You'll see, from the 69 pages on this forum concerned with the Octavia Mk4 infotainment system, just how widespread and bad the problem is, right from the car's first introduction.

Keep on at Skoda, be forceful and patient, don't give up, and I hope you get some satisfaction.

No, no issues like what you have mentioned. The front sensors do go off on occasion, but only temporarily.
