  • Hello, I got my car back from the workshop today. Can confirm that only the display unit (5E3919605) got replaced under warranty. The previous display unit was hardware H47, now the new one is H49.

Did anyone find a solution to this problem? How are your cars infotainments doing now its warmer again? )
I drive 2020 Octavia and the infotainment switches on when the car is locked. Not cool when it turns on in the middle of night and drains the battery.

I take it you've read through many posts on here detailing these issues. I'm not sure software updates alone can help fix your problem, from what I gather a new screen (head unit) is needed, which isn't a cheap fix unfortunately.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to thank the user omeromeryigit.

Their solution of disconnecting the touch power button and the volume bar was the definitive one.

After searching all over the internet and insisting at the official dealership, the only apparent solution was to replace the screen with a new one. 1500 euros and several weeks with the vehicle out of commission waiting for the new screen to arrive.

Thanks to this thread and omeromeryigit's suggestion, I dared to remove the screen and disconnect the touch power button. Amazingly, despite my fears, it was all very easy and quick to do.

Now everything works correctly (except for the aforementioned power button - I wasn't using it - and the touch volume bar - I control it from the steering wheel).

I saved 1500 euros and everything was solved in just 30 minutes.

Go for it!

Was your problem only switching on when car was locked or did you also expirience "ghost touches" (random cliks on display when in car)?

600€ for a new display

Hi,

I'm not brave enough to do so myself, so I'm having a car audio specialist disconnect it on Friday.

Once it's disconnected, with the unit on presumably, is it still possible to reboot/update the system?

Or, apart from the useless(!) volume bar & the power button not working, is there any other disadvantage?

Useful should have been useless

Hello

I was experiencing phantom touches both with the car turned off and locked, and with the vehicle running.

Honestly, it's really easy following the instructions in this thread. There are no additional problems with the power button and volume rocker.

I'm going to try this and hope it will fix the problem. Thank you! The only issue I see with this is that we wont be able to do a hard reset anymore. I usually control the volume on steering wheel too.

I didn't experience these issues myself fortunately, but have read through countless posts on here from those who did. And yes, it would seem ghost touches is quite a common symptom of the problems some people had or are still having.

Just depends on whether or not you think 600€ is worth it, to stop the hassle. That is actually cheaper than I'd thought it would be
