I also wonder if VW Passat, built in the same plant as Superb under Skoda supervision, has been experiencing the same issues.

Yes its the same

  • Hello from Latvia! I also bought a Škoda Superb L&K 2.0TSI 4x4 (delivered in May 2024). Everything was fine until October 2024 (I drove around 5000 km at that point). I got 7 warnings related to

  • My wife's Superb was updated a week ago on 2nd December and there have been no problems since. She drove 320 miles at the weekend and all was well.   She's finally starting to enjoy the car

  • I got my car back yesterday,  33 miles on, no problems.  I know that is not far, but went wrong after 10 miles when I got it . So, let's hope,  fingers crossed!

It looks like that CARIAD is to be blamed for all the group software problems. It seems that the goal of VW group to have its own OS is likely to fail. Porsche has already been looking for alternatives, such as Google.

Cariad is Welsh for darling, love, sweetheart

I emailed the MD of Cariad.  He replied saying his firm was NOT  involved with the Superb software

It would be interesting to find out if Skoda knows at least why some cars experience this software failure and others don't. What would be the cause behind it?

I've been thinking about this too. Does seem odd, doesn't it? How many versions of software can there be? 🤔 it makes me wonder if there's at least partly a hardware/ component issue here.

The other variable is the car models I guess. If anyone wants to compare notes, mine is a 2.0tdi 150hp SE hatchback. Totally standard base spec.

Touch wood, after a long ride out last week the problem hasn't gone but it's possibly lessened. Maybe I'm just getting used to it?

In general, I'm up to 1400 miles now and, ironically, given the occasional/ usually inappropriate 'drive more carefully' telling off I get from the dashboard, we're out of run in period and thus I've returned to a normal less coddling driving style. Not sure if that's helped it? I've nothing scientific to back this but I definitely feel like the rush hour stop-start of traffic makes my issues worsen. I can't not commute, tho!

Out if interest, has anyone here definitely got a 100% trouble-free car?

Hi all, long time lurker and following the thread with interest , I'm currently awaiting my build date (2.0tdi 150hp SE L estate with added tow bar)

After a great deal of deep thought / reasoning, I think that its one or more  processers being 'out of spec' / quality control issue, which would explain the procrastinated attempt to try and correct

the issue via software

Maybe 🤔

Hi @celli have you requested your money back from Skoda as yet, or has anyone one else had success with requesting a refund. I made a request for a full refund on Monday via my Dealership who have been very supportive, who are liaising with Skoda UK on my behalf.  I’m currently waiting to hear the outcome which is expected early next week.

As there is still no definitive timescale for a fix to the camera module issues I can’t see how Skoda can refuse a full refund. I’ll post a further update once I hear back from Skoda.

I haven't yet, Been abroad but back today

My dealer says the fix will be issued week beginning 3 Nov, but executive office says no news of a fix!

I will give them this week

Hi, i am interested in what you hear back from your dealer.

I have requested my dealer to provide option for a refund or replacement. I have my car since Aug 8th and have done 8500km ((5280 miles) so I am not sure if I need to take some sort of cut for mileage.

I have only got about 1000 to 1500kg of "clean" driving ..i.e. with no errors.

I have not yet heard back from the dealer.

My car:

Skoda Superb Combi

Trim Level - Selection (base model)

Engine - 2.0L TDI

Re the software update,  the dealer says The update will be an over the air update, but the dealers will be able to update it as well. As my car has been with the dealer since July,  they will install then thoroughly test.

UPDATE

I received confirmation yesterday that Skoda UK have confirmed their acceptance of my request to reject the Superb. They have confirmed that whilst they are working on a resolution for these assist faults they are no closer to releasing a software fix.

i’m sure with the support of your dealership, if you’re wanting to do likewise it will be accepted by Skoda.

‘Your dealership have communicated with Skoda UK regarding your concerns about the camera malfunction in your vehicle. After discussing the issue, Skoda UK has agreed to accept your rejection of the vehicle due to this fault’

Thank you , good to know. I was told by my dealer that the update will be this week, but nothing has happened

HI, could  you let me know if you were driving the car when Skoda accepted the rejection...or if you had a courtesy car like some others on this thread.

I have 8500 kms complete on my car since purchase in august while "waiting" for a fix, so I am wondering if  the mileage will mean they will not accept the car back.

I still have the errors but continued driving. I have asked my dealer to check with Skoda for options but they told me I just have to wait for a fix.

thks

Hi @mno101 I am in a similar position to you. I have continued to drive the car and have done just over 5000 miles. In rejecting the car, Skoda have agreed to put me back financially to when the car was purchased, so I haven’t been disadvantaged by continuing to use the car.

The service manager repeated the fact that the affected cars were only 3-5% of the total built ,and that this software upgrade had been provided specifically for Tiguans made during the period where the problems have occurred. And that mine had successfully been updated and that there should be no more issues.. Lets wait and see."

Keep fingers crossed and hope everything will be soon ok for Superb owners too.

I see many of you wish to return the car, just to repeat my earlier comment, there is a temporary solution that works. Just disconnect the positive side of battery for 10 minutes and after that everything works as it should. There is 0 mechanical knowledge required, it can be done in 2 minutes with a small wrench. I did mine roughly one month ago and no issues eversince. If you have the car with you and otherwise like everything, I would give it a try instead of possibly waiting for an other new car several months. This will not permanently fix it, but doing it once can possibly last you until the official fix is comig. Just some food for thought...

We should NOT have to mess around disconnecting the battery every other day on what is supposed to be Skoda's premier car .

The car should be Superb when it leaves the factory,  it is not,  it is 3rd rate. Why did Skoda sell a faulty 3rd rate product? Why do they not communicate with their customers?

Why has it taken 4 months to sort out the problem.

Skoda should be ASHAMED  they have let their customers down

I completely agree with you, but being angry at them will change nothing. Seems like the issue is affecting minority of the people, so it is not a top priority for them to solve it... If they will not fix it then I will. I wouldn't let this cloud your judgement as I think it is still one of the best value for money car. And again, you don't have to do it frequently, maybe just once until the fix.

If only  3 to5% have this problem,  what is the difference between the cars with and without? All skoda should have to do is work out what is different, part? Software?  and replace it

I'm still convinced that the 'software fix' is a desperate attempt to avoid a recall to replace hardware

I think that a whole host of  software issues are appearing all across the Skoda range.

I have recently picked up a Skoda Scala SE 1.5 tsi, registered in July with 1000 miles on the clock.  Had it three days( bought it on 01/11/24)  and the engine management light came on, then epc. The fault is intermittent and sometimes no warning lights and everything starts as normal.

I called out Skoda assist and on

their  second visit in three days the technician found a TPI saying it’s a known software fault see below.

Thank you for that. Always good to know. It seems Skoda are returning to the bad old days of a skip on wheels

As an aside, does anybody understand the TPI reference numbers?  The technician remarked about it being ‘2’. What does the ‘ /2’ mean?

I’m currently going through the motions of having called Skoda assist out, they have sent my breakdown report to my preferred service partner, I’ve booked in for the 27/11/24, emailed Skoda Uk customer service & Skoda global to try and get info on the TPI and subsequent update etc.

Similarly to yourself trying to make myself known on the system kind of thing.  Although your faults are much more complex than the ones I’ve had..so far 😬.

fingers and toes crossed for us all.

Just to update but besides my 12v power issue, which I'm now totally ignoring... I now have all of the camera module fault symptoms and a bunch of driving aids have switched themselves off.

IME, building a good reputation takes months and years. Destroying it can be radically faster. I'm putting up with the nonsense so long as I get from A to B in safety and relative comfort, but this is a real mess.
