  • Hello from Latvia! I also bought a Škoda Superb L&K 2.0TSI 4x4 (delivered in May 2024). Everything was fine until October 2024 (I drove around 5000 km at that point). I got 7 warnings related to

  • My wife's Superb was updated a week ago on 2nd December and there have been no problems since. She drove 320 miles at the weekend and all was well.   She's finally starting to enjoy the car

  • I got my car back yesterday,  33 miles on, no problems.  I know that is not far, but went wrong after 10 miles when I got it . So, let's hope,  fingers crossed!

Thank you.  But my car is in the dealers,  they now won't release it until it is fixed.

Just as an aside my previous superb would restart at standstill (autostop) with a nudge on the steering wheel. My new one doesn’t. Is this also a software fault or have Škoda deleted the function? It was quite useful for making sure you could get away pronto rather than the slight delay whilst the engine re-started.
the dealership service receptionist didn’t have a scoobie doo. In fact - didn’t know there was such a function!!

Can't help you sorry.  I picked mine up from the dealer,  realised it was crap, and drove it back. I haven't seen it since July.

Someone else might be able to help

My car is now back at the dealership. I know they keep these issues under wraps but my impression is that they have no previous knowledge so they will be validating my report in the workshop and seeking guidance from Škoda. I am expecting a report on Tuesday afternoon. I have a loan car to use.

Hi Beano

you say your dealer has no knowledge... here is a quote  from Skoda uk customer relations sent to me this week:

"Regarding the software update that is currently in development to rectify the issues......, I can confirm that the Škoda Factory is still yet to provide an exact release date for the software, however, I have been advised that this is a priority and is being worked on as fast as possible.

I am speaking to the brand on a daily basis asking for further information on this software update.."

An extract from an email sent to me from Skoda-auto.com in Czech Republic in August:

"Please be assured that we are fully aware of the issue and our technical team is diligently working to resolve it. Due to the complexity of the problem, the estimated time for a complete resolution is approximately 10 weeks,  we are doing everything in our power to speed-up the process"

If your dealer doesn't know,  they should!

Mine restarts with a nudge on the steering wheel.

Also regularly getting error messages on these colder mornings, rectifiing themselves after a couple of miles or a restart.

Have a deep load test on the battery; it sounds like yours may be in need of replacement.

So just to be clear, Celli - is this single issue what is meant to be causing every/all Assist system to close down and present fault conditions?

just to add to this...when I contacted Skoda customer Service (mid Sept)  below is the response I got...seems to align with Celli's comments

Thank you for contacting SKODA Ireland.
The errors in which are presenting on the dash are all in relation to the camera module.
Our technical department who are sadly not in a customer facing role are liaising very closely with the factory regarding an update on this fix in which will result in a solution to these warning messages. Sadly there has been no update as to when this fix be released and we can not provide you with a date.
Safety is paramount to us here at SKODA Ireland and we must advise your vehicle is safe to be driven at present.
We can only apologise for the inconvenience this has caused to you and please be assured we are continuing to monitor the case closely.
Kind Regards

As I understand it... yes. There is a major software fault which is crashing the car computer

The factory has issued  a TPI. TPI = Technical Product Information. A bit like an internal dealer memo that warns of defects and recalls. The TPI reference number that has been issued for the software update is 2075197/3.

All dealers should have the notice

Thank you for that addn info. How do you feel about driving your car with all the assist systems disabled?  Or is it still at the dealership like Celli’s car.

Its not at the dealership. I am still driving it, Both dealer and Skoda Ireland assured me that it was safe to drive as per email.

I love the car and love driving it...but i really liked all of the assist options (...particularly the adaptive cruise control.)..cant wait to get them back up and running

what really bugs me is the same as everyone else here...i paid a lot of money for a big upgrade for me (my previous car was a 2012 Mondeo).....and while mistakes/errors can happen...what really annoys me is that both the dealer and Skoda Customer service cannot give me an eta on a fix...I seem to get a lot more information here than I do from either of them !

My dealer does not think it is a good idea driving, protective passenger assist means air bags are not working etc

My dealer does not think it is a good idea driving... I don't quite understand the reasoning of your dealer. According to his logic, all Superb models should not be allowed on roads until this problem is solved. Furthermore, they should not be sold by local dealers. Does your local dealer act like this at the instruction of the factory? Let me doubt about it.

On the other side, by "protective passenger assist" you mean Crew Protect Assist? As far as I know, this assistance feature reacts to different sensors than the airbags. In my opinion, it should be stupid to have the airbags safe operation connected to the software of the travel assist software.

In Romania, where I'm from, the company importing Skoda cars is organizing this weekend, for all those interested, a drive test with new Skoda models: Superb, Kodiaq and Octavia facelift. I don't think they would have done this if such major safety problems had been at stake.

Hi, I picked up my new Superb SE L on Tuesday. Very nice, although I think I preferred my old one without myriad settings and the big screen.

I will probably (hope to) change my mind when I get used to it?

I dont get any error messages on the dash about systems not working. I just get in set off and lane assist, speed and drowsiness appear to be turned off! Strange.

I don't detect any adverse driving conditions from them not being on, it just feels normal. One thing I have noticed which feels very wierd is that when you engage cruise control it reads the road speed signs and just does it! If you are in a 30mph zone it clics along at 30mph. If you then enter past a derestricted speed sign it accelerates up to 60mph. It feels very wierd... and dangerous!

with regard to the acceleration yes I agree, it took me a while to get used to it (then I lost it with the errors) ..it takes getting used to. I set set the max distance on "Front Assist" then it will only accelerate up to that distance. this helped

I had the same issue as the previous authors and contacted my local dealer as per Skoda UK Customer care. They didn’t have an appointment for at least 3 weeks so I then phoned Skoda UK back. I got my car back in at the supplying dealer (90 miles away) within 2 days and they ‘fixed’ the faults temporarily. I am still waiting on a software fix after 3 months. I did raise a formal complaint with Skoda Customer Care and was able to negotiate a set of nets for the car. But a wee bit disappointed with Skoda for the fault in the first place. I only had run the car for a couple of hundred miles when the dashboard lit up like a Christmas Tree!!

It is a disgrace that Skoda did not.... realise there was a major fault which seems to affect all superbs, and if they did know, have Knowingly sold faulty cars.

It has taken 3 months so far and Skoda have still not found a solution.

My dealer says. ". I will keep pestering the brand as I’m sure lots of dealers are currently doing". Skoda executive office said "I do understand that the Škoda Factory is working on this update as a priority and am hoping to have further information on the release date for this update shortly"

I feel Skoda has seriously let down the brand, I know of people who have cancelled orders because of this.

I think that can be adjusted,  I hope so!

Hi, I'm pretty sure my superb is suffering the same, or similar, software problems with slightly different symptoms.

I never have to actually switch off Lane Keeping, Speed assist etc. I just get in, start up and drive off. So that saves me a job.

However, I never see any yellow fault icons for these on the dashboard. I do see the icons for these in white. The lane keeping icon does very rarely flicker to green and lane keeping starts to work very half heartedly.

Is it worth removing the number 22 fuse as has been mentioned previously by bazy. I take it that you would do this with the ignition off? Does it have to remain out for any length of time, or is it just an unplug and refit?

I've not attempted this myself as it seems like on RH drive cars you have to partially remove the glovebox.
