Software failure not so Superb

Any chance you could look at the system information and report on the display unit software version as above?

I'll ask if she can do that for you.

I think she's replied to your query regarding the trim in the footwell on FB. 🙂

  • Hello from Latvia! I also bought a Škoda Superb L&K 2.0TSI 4x4 (delivered in May 2024). Everything was fine until October 2024 (I drove around 5000 km at that point). I got 7 warnings related to

  • My wife's Superb was updated a week ago on 2nd December and there have been no problems since. She drove 320 miles at the weekend and all was well.   She's finally starting to enjoy the car

  • I got my car back yesterday,  33 miles on, no problems.  I know that is not far, but went wrong after 10 miles when I got it . So, let's hope,  fingers crossed!

now that is weird seeing your screenshots. I took this picture on the 21s of november just to have it. so far havent seen any errors (besides when snow covers the cameras)

Edit: Only thing i can think off is a difference in country Finland vs UK and Left hand drive vs Right hand drive (maybe how it would measure drowsiness etc)

Mine is also left hand drive and supposedly got the most recent update today, but still my software and display unit software numbers are lower... Could be maybe related to production weeks as well, mine was produced somewhere in July. Anyway I will see if the issue will come back, so far everything works (altough it has been working for me for the last couple months, I only had to disconnect the battery just once, I just went for the update to hopefully make the fix permanent)

Why did it take so long the process? My agent called me the other day to discuss to set up a date and time for the update and said it would take 2-3 hours. What am I missing here?

I don’t know. It went in at 9am and they started straight away. Called me at 3 to say it would be completed the same day then at 9am today to say it had finished.

Dear Superb owners,

We need to know if anyone has had the software update and still gets the faults after the update.  There is already 1 report, keep us informed

Mine went under the knife yesterday. There were complications on the operating table. There's a progress bar and it sounds like there's some kind of time-remaining feedback on the laptop, but further it went the longer the timer got. So started at 3 hours but by close was at 8.. it sounds like they've left it on overnight, anyway. Hoping to hear back today.

When my Corsa Electric shut down with a fault, and also needed a Software Update that was a RECALL,

which i had never been informed about as the car was not RECALLED, there was an issue.

Supposedly Bandwidth at the Service Centre was not enough and Updates were not completing. 97% and Computer says no.

No idea of the truth.  But what i do know from TRACKING the car and knowing the Service Staff lied about it,s location and movements.

The SOFTWARE Update was carried out on a Sunday while the Service Centre was Closed to the Public / Centre Customer Service Staff.

Only issue, after returned to me the Over The Air Update reverted the car to the pre Software Update. (Safety Critical Update.)

Mine after the update also shows 4043 as the software version so maybe this is the newer one that rectifies the problems.

So I picked up my new car last Friday (13th), and pleased to say 200 miles in all is good. Couple of interesting things on it that weren't immediately obvious (to me at least)

Rear heated seats, mine seem to be locked by default meaning the rear passengers only have control in lowering the heat intensity (driver switches it on), however there is a radio button to unlock it on the main fan/heat adjustment page for rear.

The massage seats are awesome, not too intrusive but a really nice feature.

Having fully customizable LED interior lights is just wow!

Now....the system info. Here's where mine differs:-

Device part number ends 16B

Software is  2630

Display Unit/Ctrl Panel Hardware is H42

Display Unit/Ctrl Panel Software is 4047

Radio database is 1.31.52

All other iterations the same.

Mines the SEL 150 Diesel Auto, and the engine drives beautifully in auto (my first one), I prefer the pickup around town of sport mode. Ride and handling are firm but also nicely cushioned, I notice many of the enforced speed ramps that I have to travel through are dampened a lot better on this car than my old Superb which is just over 4 years old.

The only thing that I'm yet to get set up perfect for me is the sound system, the speakers don't sound as luxurious as the ones in my old car, but I haven't had too much of a play yet and I know from past experience that getting the right bass/middle/treble combined with the right focus point (fader) is critical to getting the best out of it.

The infotainment center is fast and snappy, and phone connectivity is quick....much quicker than the old model. Love the 15w wireless charger, that's a win.

Car mats - the standard ones are ok. nothing more than that, but the ones I had for my old version don't quite fit (the size/shape is the same but the hole locations to secure are an inch or so different), also the boot tray that I rescued from my old car whilst it fits, it's not perfect, but it's better than leaving the carpet bare. The new little hangy shelf thing won't get used that much but seems like a good spot to put a brolly in which stops it rolling around in the cavern of the boot. Good to see as standard rear seat releases from the boot as well.

Probably not the best spot for the majority of this post, so if admins want to reposition please go ahead. however I did want to report back on the software, and say that so far with 200 miles on the clock which is a mix of town and motorway driving I have had zero issues so far, despite tempting fate and picking it up on Friday the 13th

@CowsGoMoo  Waiting on delivery of mine should be sin a week or so according to the dealer. Out of interest. What steering wheel did you get?  Škoda logo or the word Škoda?

Good question, mine apparently was one of the first batches of the new Word Style logo'd steering wheel.

OOOOH,

Subtle is different... Is this the SEL steering wheel or will that be the one now? I am sure they could have got the lettering even bigger.

Software is definitely an improvement.

I've been told the same, so mine may be on the same boat  ... dealer has assured me that the software update will be checked

I did add the winter pack which changes the steering wheel from the stock to the two spoke one pictured.

Been reading this thread for a while but only just registered to reply.

Picked up my Superb SE L Hybrid in August and after around 1000 miles, received the Assist systems failures. Dealer carried out a reset and the alerts cleared but returned after a couple of weeks. Dealer tried to clear them again but with no luck, this was probably end of October.

Spent a fair amount of time in discussion with them as I've been a customer of theirs for a while (usually change my car every couple of years, previous was an SE L Kodiaq), beginning to wish I hadn't swapped it for the Superb! They eventually informed me that it's a known fault and Skoda are working on a fix.

Anyway, long story short, Dealer called me at the start of December to let me know that the fix is available. I'm taking the Superb in later today and they will work on it tomorrow.

Will let you know, how it goes... wish me luck!!

Hi All,

regarding the software released on 2nd December, I contacted my local Skoda service centre to schedule the upgrade but they said they wanted to try it on another car they already had booked in first (my car has already been in twice for multiple days).  I chased them up to find out how it had gone and this was the response: "At the moment we have placed update into twin sister of your vehicle with same issue and the software hasn’t worked we are awaiting further info from technical".

Does anyone else have any updates?

I know it took multiple goes to install the new software. They kept getting error messages half way through the process.  Eventually they tried a different computer and it installed.

It will be useful to know if people get the warnings after they have the update

Went out in the car a couple of hours ago and the central screen came on and then went black, although everything seemed to be working and I could turn stuff on and off with voice control.

Turned everything off and locked the car and tried again, still black

Left it a couple of hours and just went back to the the car and everything back to normal!

Strange, will be getting the software updated in the new year although I have had no problems or errors for a couple of months now.

You can reboot the central screen, press and hold the button in front of the screen for about 15 seconds, it should then restart, unless there is a power supply problem

Screen restart just happen like once upon a time. Its just computer maybe when its judt full of programs running it just dies.

So the inevitable happened, after the so called software update the yellow lights are back 😁 To be honest I feel like they didn't even update the car, just tampered something with it and possibly disconnected the battery and saw that the lights cleared and thought job well done. I have the next booking for Jan, guess I'll keep fixing it by myself until then. Those who got the update please post your software info screens, maybe we can build some consensus what is exactly the latest software. (just a reminder on mine not one version number changed after the "update"

When did you have the update?  How far has the car driven since the update?

It was done last Thursday so less then a week ago... Think I drove around 50 km, I don't think it is related to distance driven, it just happens when it wants to, usually not mid drive, but when you start driving.

Is this software update supposed to be installed on all Mk4 Superbs?

I picked my 1.5 SEL in early October and whilst I don't seem to have anywhere near the problems other have had, I have had several annoying gliches since then. I did have one or two yellow lights early on but driving the car seems to have cleared these up. I still have several annoying things not working properly. The car seems to turn off hill hold for both myself and my wife whenever it feels like it. This also happens with engine on/off at junctions. Lane keeping is a bit temperamental but I've got used to it now. It's so subdued when its working that I never feel inclined to turn it off anyway! Other random 'happenings are so minor that I just swear at the computer and forget about them. They should not happen though!!!

Other non-software faults I have experienced so far...  The boot catch wouldn't pull the hatch fully closed; now fixed. The Hatch refuses to close until the third push of the closing button. Attempts one and two just get a 'bong' and some slight movement. It all works as expected if you shake a foot at it!

Getting back to the opening sentence... When I mentioned some of these 'known' faults to the head of sevice at my local dealer he claimed not to know anything about them. I had to show him some of the earlier briskoda posts and reference to a TPI2075197/3 and he checking this before he would believe me.

If this a general recall, should the dealer be contacting me, or do I have to chase them up about it? Does anyone have a copy of the rcall (Service Recall 91SV, I believe) that can be posted on this forum.

I have a couple of faults I have not seen anyone else having.

If i open the tailgate, or even a rear door, sometimes the car will turn on, i.e. the main screen lights up and the radio etc starts,

Luckily have seen this happen on every occasion, cannot miss it as you can hear the radio! and I have been able to turn everything off again.

Also tailgate when open will close on it's own when you are putting stuff in the boot.

Sunroof blind will also close for no apparent reason.

Hoping to get the software update done early next year and maybe these problems will be addressed but waiting until they have sorted out the upload of the new software properly, no point taking it in twice.
