My update was done just under two weeks ago and have driven 400 miles over the last couple of days with no errors. Fingers crossed.

  • Hello from Latvia! I also bought a Škoda Superb L&K 2.0TSI 4x4 (delivered in May 2024). Everything was fine until October 2024 (I drove around 5000 km at that point). I got 7 warnings related to

  • My wife's Superb was updated a week ago on 2nd December and there have been no problems since. She drove 320 miles at the weekend and all was well.   She's finally starting to enjoy the car

  • I got my car back yesterday,  33 miles on, no problems.  I know that is not far, but went wrong after 10 miles when I got it . So, let's hope,  fingers crossed!

Is this software update supposed to be installed on all Mk4 Superbs?

I picked my 1.5 SEL in early October and whilst I don't seem to have anywhere near the problems other have had, I have had several annoying gliches since then. I did have one or two yellow lights early on but driving the car seems to have cleared these up. I still have several annoying things not working properly. The car seems to turn off hill hold for both myself and my wife whenever it feels like it. This also happens with engine on/off at junctions. Lane keeping is a bit temperamental but I've got used to it now. It's so subdued when its working that I never feel inclined to turn it off anyway! Other random 'happenings are so minor that I just swear at the computer and forget about them. They should not happen though!!!

Other non-software faults I have experienced so far...  The boot catch wouldn't pull the hatch fully closed; now fixed. The Hatch refuses to close until the third push of the closing button. Attempts one and two just get a 'bong' and some slight movement. It all works as expected if you shake a foot at it!

Getting back to the opening sentence... When I mentioned some of these 'known' faults to the head of sevice at my local dealer he claimed not to know anything about them. I had to show him some of the earlier briskoda posts and reference to a TPI2075197/3 and he checking this before he would believe me.

If this a general recall, should the dealer be contacting me, or do I have to chase them up about it? Does anyone have a copy of the rcall (Service Recall 91SV, I believe) that can be posted on this forum.

As far as I understand things, talking to my dealer,  the software is for all cars, although they recall in waves so as not to overwhelm/crash the factory computer. My dealer says out of 14 Superbs,  they have had 11 with the warning light faults.the dealers demo car keeps calling the police on the emergency button.  Skoda has told the dealer this software fix should sort out all sorts of faults

Re the other faults,  you must get them sorted,  you have paid enough for the car.

I have a couple of faults I have not seen anyone else having.

If i open the tailgate, or even a rear door, sometimes the car will turn on, i.e. the main screen lights up and the radio etc starts,

Luckily have seen this happen on every occasion, cannot miss it as you can hear the radio! and I have been able to turn everything off again.

Also tailgate when open will close on it's own when you are putting stuff in the boot.

Sunroof blind will also close for no apparent reason.

Hoping to get the software update done early next year and maybe these problems will be addressed but waiting until they have sorted out the upload of the new software properly, no point taking it in twice.

According to my dealer,  they have been told the software fix should sort out various things re the boot opening and closing on its own, make sure you are not triggering the hidden pedal

Hi all, I am just back from the dealer.

They did a software update and the issues are now resolved.

The update took approx. 2.5 hours including a test drive.

Not sure why this was not done as part of the sale 3 weeks ago. I could not get a straight answer on that.

Hi,

Exact same issue here on a brand new car I picked up 1.5 weeks ago and which has less than 1000k on the odometer.

Do you know how to see what software version you were on before and after the update?

And is the issue permanently resolved?

Thanks!

My software problems in july on a brand new car after 10 miles. The car went back to the dealer immediately and I finally got it back on Monday.  So far the update has worked but 2 days is not much of a test. The update was released on December 2nd

Thanks for the fast answer. Taking it to the dealership tomorrow, hope that the update helps.

Mine went under the knife yesterday. There were complications on the operating table. There's a progress bar and it sounds like there's some kind of time-remaining feedback on the laptop, but further it went the longer the timer got. So started at 3 hours but by close was at 8.. it sounds like they've left it on overnight, anyway. Hoping to hear back today.

Can you share the outcome of this?

They took a few attempts to load my update.  Same thing, update dot stuck. They tried different computers and one eventually worked

Thanks! Good to know this is a common issue, depressing to hear it is so widespread and no full fix appears to be in place.

The service recall is Service Campaign 91SV.

There have been complaints from all over Europe.  After being a pain in the arse emailing Skoda CZ I got this reply on November 27th.

thank you very much for your email. We deeply understand your frustration. Till these days Skoda have been intensively working on the correction of the software. We are very sorry for the time you have been waiting. Let us explain why it has taken the time. The issue resulted very complex, affected more control units therefore the whole issue required more time than other tests. Now the software is ready. Kindly check the availability of the your preferred workshop for the update.

I suspect Skoda knew there was a major fault but launched the car anyway

I will not buy another Skoda

Modem times ... The bean counters (Accountants) rule the world, no doubt it was way cheaper to let the dealers do the update.

"make sure you are not triggering the hidden pedal2

No, just standing at the back of the car loading or unloading the car.

I believe it is the virtual pedal that is being triggered but the it is too sensitive to movement that is not under the car but just at the back.

It was done last Thursday so less then a week ago... Think I drove around 50 km, I don't think it is related to distance driven, it just happens when it wants to, usually not mid drive, but when you start driving.

Having the same issue. What software version are you on?

Service taking place next week Tuesday, not sure they will do the software update though. I expect just 'diagnosis'.

Now doing the battery disconnect to see if that improves things.

I hope you have managed to negotiate a substantial compensation payment from Skoda. The depreciation in the value of your car and the obvious stress and inconvenience caused whilst it was sat in your dealership for numerous months has been undoubtedly massive. I really hope you have been successful.

Thanks for starting this thread back in July as it’s been extremely helpful and informative.

I have the same problem with my superb.   It is booked into the dealers so they can have look at it.  This morning I disconnected the + terminal on the battery for 30 mins, then reconnected the terminal this has cleared all the errors and faults, I know they will probably cone back again but nice to drive it as it was again

Same problem, also solved it by disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes. Driven 50k since then and no issues.

Taking it to the dealership next week though as it is also showing the 'emission control system fault' warning light. Not sure that is related.

Thank you for your post. I am starting to negotiate with Skoda UK for some compensation.  I think the least they can do is have the guarantee start date moved to when I picked up the car on Monday.

So far, 3 days in and the car is behaving, although everytime I start it there's fear and trepidation!!

Mine was in for just shy of a week under recall. Software didn't take at first, there was mention of swapping the camera unit which suggests thats what the error messages were pointing at. They got the software in on Tuesday but apparently the technician's software also needed to be updated in order to put in the car software. I think they said it was something like 6 hours to load in - possibly something to do with it being done over the Internet from some cloud server thing at Skoda (guessing).

The other comment was that they had 2 Elroqs and another Superb in for the same thing this week so it's clearly affecting a number of cars.

In 50 miles or so we have a clean-ish bill of health, touch wood. The dash has still dinged a couple of times with something about 'front sensor' but that clears itself promptly. I don't think it's fixed but it is, at least, better than it was. The 12v nonsense appears to have gone. I don't want a courtesy car over Christmas so it's going to get chance to sort itself out.

Its a bloody good car when it works and I love how it looks, but I wonder if I'll ever really trust the damn thing. We'll see, I guess.

Hi!

Brand new Superb, took over it in very early december, and after only ca 2-3000km begun the same proble this week as you write also.

"Side assist unavailable", "Front assist unavailable", "Protective occupant unavailable". The messages come with loud and annoying bell ringing, quite randomly; sometimes there are none for minutes, other times twice a minute. I read here that there is a new software fix, I called the dealer (in Hungary), but according to them, there is no software update for my cars VIN, but I managed to push for an appointment in early January, as they tried to turn me away, citing a full schedule.

.

I will try the battery also, but as a temporary "fix", before I start driving, turn off all the assists on the list. I drove cars without theese assists and I "survived", so I can drive without assists now also, but very uncomfortable to turn them off every time.

Sorry to hear about you.  Skoda have really ****ed up. My dealer says they are recalling in batches so not to overwhelm abd crash their computers

Bad News to report. I had the update on Monday, and after 50 miles I am getting:

Occupant Protection Restricted

Front Assist Unavailable

Emergency Assist Unavailable.

I think it is fair to say, Skoda have failed their customers

I'm due to pick up a new L&K next Saturday. Wondering if I should ask the dealer to cancel the order on the grounds the cars dont work.

I would. They are not fit for purpose.  They are still selling them with faults  . My dealer says the warning lights are at fault not the system but that is not the point.  A product called Superb should be Superb,  it is definitely not .
