I hope there's a future revision that will do so. They're always tweaking things following feedback & error reports.

  • Personally, not really in the spirit of the forum to be selling the update file.  Also, with no documentation, or indeed any reference to this update on the web, I would not install it at this point.

  • Just for clarification, in the past I supplied a lot of files for free. The costs that I made then we're not high and I could cover it with other works   However since last year the costs fo

  • I have now sourced the 1985 update package and installed successfully.  Everything seems fine but got a long journey tomorrow which will confirm its stability.  I’ll happily share it FOC over the week

Thank you for your advices.

After a year of use, I updated the infotainment from 1810 to 1941, then 1985, thanks to your tutorials.

The central screen is much more responsive and has corrected a lot of little bugs.

The only thing that has disappeared is that when the phone charges wirelessly, the ‘Qi’ icon no longer appears. It only appears when charging is blocked when the phone is not in place.

I'm also seeing more frequent notifications of updates (traffic info, etc.) with the little 1 appearing and disappearing in the notification area. The 25.5 maps installed themselves without any notification.

I know some people have posted about improvements they've noticed, however having updated my Octavia 2020 model from 1806 to 1985, I cant identify any tangible changes/improvements - am I missing something? I've not used the speech recognition function since upgrading admittedly. I didn't really have any problems before, except I couldn't register my Skoda Connect account and that is still the same.

e.g. Spotify and similar programs in full screen; similarly, the phone/contacts app, etc.

Voice recognition had become so sensitive in 1985 that it would activate all the time without being asked. I had to disable it because it was so annoying.

I got the 1985 s/w update over the air a couple weeks ago. When I started the car it told me an update was available and gave me the Update/Cancel options, so I selected Update. Then next time I started the car it told me the update was ready to install, Update/Cancel. Update again. I haven't noticed any major changes though.

But I don't get map updates OTA. Only way to get my maps DB version to update is if I wait for the 29GB zip version to be updated on the Skoda Updates portal and download it to a USB and put that in the car. Works like a charm, after about 20mins of driving I parked up in a supermarket, and when I got back and started the car I checked system info and the map DB version is now 25.6 (was 24.6).

I don't see any s/w updates on the portal though. Only maps and DAB station logos (which I've never got to work - I follow the instructions to put the USB in, on a station with no logo there should be an option to Add Logo, but then it doesn't show any logos to add.)

the OTA updates are for various functions in the car and you will not normally notice any change unless you have been suffering from a problem that the update fixes. These fixes are automatic and free, they are not listed on the public portal.

You will only get map updates OTA if you subscribe to the infotainment package.

I've just discovered that the iphone Skoda app is rubbish.
Everything apart from some of the stuff in the "Inspect" section is a paid for feature. And even the "Inspect/Vehicle Health Report" is wrong. I've currently got an amber oil warning light on with the message "Oil sensor faulty. Please visit workshop." (its booked into a local garage later this week) but the Vehicle Health Report screen shows "All Good" with ticks across the board.

I completely agree and do not use it.

As for radio logos, only FM stations are updated with USB. DAB stations are never updated; they are updated by the broadcasting station.

Here in France, they do the bare minimum. We often only get the name of the radio station, whereas in Germany there is much more information (artist and title, etc.).

No you can update the Radio Database for the DAB station logos yourself..... There's a thread in this section and another in the ICE section giving you the instructions on how to do it. I've updated mine a couple of times this year so as to receive a more up to date list of station logos...... Although some still aren't included.

How is everyone getting this version of software in the UK? I am still stuck on version 1896! Rang Skoda dealership yesterday and they said i have "no outstanding updates" on my car... how bizzare?

Hardware: H56

Software: 1896

Car: 2020 Octavia 1.5 TSI SE L first edition estate

Any advice or help please? I really need an update to help with the numerous software glitches from sos errors to the infotainment rebooting time and time again. Only seems to temporarily stop if my car is in 'maximum privacy' settings.

Updating the Infotainment system is unlikely to solve all issues; many modules link to the car's central control, and likely some need firmware updates - unfortunately Skoda and their dealership network seem a bit clueless in all aspects of this so you have to be proactive and "informed" in getting them to do anything - trawling through this forum there is a lot of information which will likely prove useful. If you do want to update the infotainment system, then it's a manual procedure detailed on this forum.

If you are experiencing SOS errors, I would recommend asking the dealer to update the Telematics module firmware, as this was a common issue with early editions of the Octavia. I have the same car as you and, along with a few other software issues, I used to get SOS errors with it going offline, Sat Nav going a bit haywire, and infotainment system sometimes freezing, and getting the Telematic Modules firmware updated was, more or less, the solution to all that. My car now runs problem-free.

@spcdust How much does it cost to get dealer to update the Telematics firmware? I went into a local dealership yesterday because Skoda support said to fix a problem I have (not being able to log in to my Skoda connect account, see separate thread) I would need to book appointment, then Skoda central support would have to provide information to dealership.... it was going to cost something over £100 (out of 3 year warranty) which tbh for me isn't worth it as it works ok and I'll just use my phone with google maps to get live traffic and don't need SOS. No other issues currently (I updated to 1985 as per process detailed in this thread) although have the annoying air con issue (again another thread) but think that's across various software versions and VAG models.
