  6. Meant to add it may be a failing ignition switch. Did read that there is a plastic bit/switch that lets the car know if theres a key in ignition. If it sticks the car assumes theres still a key in so doesnt shut down properly and beeps to warn you about locking key in car. Read it on a VW forum so may not be aplicable to mk2 octavia Maybe someone on here could help. They said try a squirt of wd40 into ignition to see if it frees up plastic bit, Alasdair
  7. Cant hear chime sound on clip but it may be the siren battery thats failing and car is continuosuly trying to charge it hence drain over 3-4 days. You could pull the fuse for the siren back up battery. From memory think its fuse 35 in side of dash and see if it makes a difference. Might be worth a scan with vcds to see if it pulls up any random faults. Alasdair
  8. Need a car that I will drive 5000 miles/8000 km per year in Eastern Europe 80% of the time on highways at speeds 75mph/110-120kmph. Now the Octavia is great but on the few occasions (2-3 times per month) when I will go to the city center the extra 30cm of length will be harder to park also it will probably have 1-1.5L more fuel consumption as if I go for the Octavia I am going for the 2.0L as I want a ~8 sec to 100kmph for easier highway joining which the 1.0L Octavia (I can get a 2017 one for only 11k euros) won't do. The thing is for my budget of 15-16k euros I can get a 1.5TSI 2022 Scala at 100,000km under warranty until mid 27 or a 2018 Octavia 2.0 diesel at 150,000km out of warranty and I prefer the newer car (Scala) . For that amount I can get a 21 Corolla hatch under warranty until 2031 with 1.8/140hp, but I am afraid it will be not as quiet, planted or as stable as the Scala and it is at 150,000km. So I have made up my mind at 90% the question is is the 15-16k for the Scala overpriced? Also is my choice of petrol good I know diesel is more fuel efficient on the highway but my 2-3 time of months of driving in the city might be clustered in the beginning of that month and I might leave the car not driven for 2-3 weeks at a time.
  9. Hi @Binx1310 Even with the changing of Dataset it is not possible?
  10. I've appreciated the guides, advice and straight up kindness from members here during my time on the forum (mostly lurking!). My Mk1. Octavia TDI and the Fabia were amazing cars! I was quite let down by the mk2 VRS but still kept an open mind moving forwards. (It still had it's own charm when I wasn't busy fixing something!) Unfortunately someone has hit my wife's little Fabia which has now been written off. Replaced with.... a mk1 Nissan leaf! (I did try and get her to go for a mk3 VRS but the budget just couldn't stretch!). My Octavia will be gone by the end of the month as well as a gearbox/differential bearing is acting up and I couldn't justify the cost. I loved the Enyaq but it just wasn't financially sensible for us so I've settled on an old zafira tourer shudder (the way I feel AND the clutch before you ask!). I feel a little bit sad to be moving away from Skoda.. but hope to return one day when I can eventually afford (and am allowed to keep!) an Enyaq or some other form of skoda EV.

  13. Generally I don't like matte paint finishes at all, but for some reason the 01 looks great in them, at least imho. BOLD BOLD BOLD is the way to go with this car. Probably some sort of Rappers wet dream, but the car suits bling.
  14. The first battery scan on this car was only a few days after purchase, April 2026 and its internal resistance was even then 6.8mOhms, it is was 7.4mOhms on 7th Oct (2026), 6 months later. My almost 8 year old January 2019 Polo wasn't scanned until Sept 2021, (2yrs 8 months old) and its resistance was 6.6mOhms, it was 7.6mOhms in June 2026 (7 yrs 5 months old). Both have 59AH EFB Batteries.
  15. Which version / github did you use?
  16. For reference, the part reported as working above is Metzger 0884010. The other number discussed is Bosch 0 281 003 085. Those links help identify the controllers; the large number printed on the casing is not enough on its own to choose one. For another car with P0684 or P064C, check the exact code description, controller power, earth and connector before ordering. Also match the engine and OE reference. A controller fault should not automatically turn into replacing the pressure-sensing glow plug. Metzger 0884010 reference Bosch 0 281 003 085 reference
  17. @square12464 ? where has the 75,000 miles come from??? Just a salesperson without a clue who never showed you that in writing. The manufacturers Advice, Recommendations, Spec, Schedule is at 80,000 miles on a DQ381. And Dealerships say oil filter at 2nd service. Both things are crazy if you have a car that you own and is a keeper. ** Ask that same Salesperson about a VAQ Diff and when that is due a service. See if they say 30,000 miles / 3 years, or 20,000 / 2 years (Mk4) or if they even know what it is. Brake fluid @ 3 years, or now at 2 years, do they know that is the Manufacturers schedule. Does AI.?
  18. As far as I’m aware this is not possible on the newer facelift models.
  19. Does anyone know if the auxiliary pump C situated behind engine block is the same part as the one situated by the oil filter got a P26f9 code up on my Skoda Octavia and I’ve changed the wrong pump because Skoda said I only had 2 pumps and now I know I’ve got 3. 2020 plate 2.0 TDI

  22. If your battery is a EFB+ the internal resistance 7.4 mohm seems a little high. Ideally should be around 4-4.5 ish mohm
  23. If you listen to your car dealer, you will end up visiting the service center more frequently after the warranty expires—precisely because you followed their advice. The transmission manufacturer specifies an oil change every 60,000 km (or 43,000 miles). A service performed at a shop lacking the proper oil-changing machine is incomplete; if the transmission oil is simply drained, refilling it leaves you with a mix of 75% new oil and 25% old oil containing all the accumulated impurities. Still, even that kind of service is 75% better than doing nothing at all.

Hey everyone! 👋 I’m looking for some advice regarding an OCU update on my Škoda Superb Combi 2021. After updating my MIB3 infotainment system from 0270 → 0308 → 0330, I started experiencing an SOS button issue — the light turned red. To resolve this, I attempted to update the OCU from 0035 to 0143. The update appeared to complete successfully, and the SOS issue was resolved: the light turned green again. ✅ However, when checking the software version in OBDeleven, it still shows 0035. I’ve checked several times to make sure the information was refreshed correctly. Additionally, I’m now getting a new warning: “Check Software Version Management.” My OCU details: Software part number: 5WA 035 284 B Hardware part number: 5WA 035 284 Original software version: 0035 Expected software version after update: 0143 For the update, I used the package OCU3_5WA035284__SWUP_package_3G0919360RH. Does anyone know why OBDeleven still reports the old software version even though the SOS issue has been resolved? Could the “Check Software Version Management” warning be related to the update package, or might the update have been only partially applied? Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated! 🙏 Thanks in advance! 🚗

  27. My March 2024 built RS diesel suffers from intermittent reboots. It might not happen for a month then it might return and happen a few times before stopping again for weeks. It seems to happen about 20ish seconds after i start the car.
  28. Hey everyone! 👋 I’m wondering if anyone has found a solution for enabling remote tailgate closing on the newer 6D modules used in Škoda models from 2021 onwards. My Škoda Superb Combi (2021) has the following 6D (Trunk Electronics / J605) module: Software number: 5WB 959 107 Software version: 0430 Hardware version: H04 I’ve been trying to activate tailgate closing from both the interior button and the remote key using OBDeleven. However, my module doesn’t have the adaptation options available on older 6D versions, such as “Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch – Tap function for closing.” Has anyone managed to enable this feature on the newer 5WB 959 107 module? Is it possible through coding or adaptations, or would it require modifying the dataset? Any help, suggestions, or successful experiences would be greatly appreciated! 🙏 Thanks in advance! 🚗
  29. So, I just did this on a Škoda Octavia 4, and after the adaptation, it really is necessary to lock the car and let it sit undisturbed for at least half an hour—and everything works.
  30. Definitely a possibility, the engine I have is the earlier EA888.3 (as a few components were upgraded after 2017 i believe) but that could be a very possible outcome, its good to keep it in mind thankyou
  31. Probably not applicable in OPs case, but according to some online research, apparently EA888 G3B (2019 on) engines can have 'AVS' which is a dual-lobe cam on inlet or outlet valves, with some versions closing valves completely on light load - the reference was to Audi TFSI, but I wonder if it's in wider VAG use.
  32. Hi Guys, Everytime I lock or unlock my car this chime IMG_5148.movsounds and not sure what it is. Nothing is left on lights etc. I have problems with battery drainage after 3/4 days of no use so thinking it could be something to do with that maybe.
