  1. Hi all Tried the silicone spray and success, the flap opened and after a good clean and spraying with silicone it now opens and locks perfectly Thanks people
  2. According to the dealer training manual*, he's only supposed to say that to women and under 21's, needs retraining obviously. I'd laugh if it wasn't so serious. * under " Chapter 3: 10 ways to fob off a customer and send them on their way”

I once had a penalty notice via email from New York Dept of Transportation
  4. There you go Chris Will add some better pics soon
  5. Not sure this of use in your case. Both cases were raised where the (same) car was out of warranty were failures that occured shortly after repairs (3-9 months) The first case it was initially a warranty (known) issue repair that subsequently failed again within a few months, this issue recurred four times until eventually the car was out of warranty and I was told that any further obligation under warranty had ceased. Not accepting this, I stood my ground and eventually Skoda UK (not the dealer) authorised a wider repair which it turned out was where the fault lay all along. Unfortunately when I drove the car out of the dealer, within a mile it became obvious there was now a very serious problem with gearbox/final drive. Immediately returned the car to the dealer who gave me a courtesy car while they investigated (which found a broken differential) There then followed one long stressful week of telephone discussion, the dealer denying any responsibility, "just a coincidence", I demanded Skoda UK involvment and eventually Skoda UK authorised a full rebuild of the gearbox and arranged a VW finance courtesy car while it was done. I had then just recently bought a new Superb and ran 3 other Skodas one of which I told them I was on the brink of changing for another new Skoda. That last bit seemed to sway Skoda Uk. Im not sure if I would have succeeded otherwise.
  6. I would be surprised if it shows BTG time below 9 minutes. Just to stay in the topic, here goes another angle.
  7. Do you really think a main dealer is interested in selling such a modified car and the consequences to their liability? If they decide to retail it, they will likely just reflash the ecu back to standard, and say nothing. No main dealer would market this as is as the power and torque exceeds the manufacturers design limit of the DSG, Haldex etc. All warranty is void on engine and transmission, full stop. To hide it from Skoda would be fraud. There is more to this sudden change of heart by Shy that meets the eye. We will probably never know the full story.
  8. Indeed your health, both physical and mental is ultimately much more important than this car situation. You need to step back a bit, wind down and relax/prepare yourself for whatever your health procedure is, fingers crossed that all goes well for you. The car can wait, it is not going anywhere and they cannot demand you remove it. When they do call, remind them constantly of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and you firmly believe this situation os as a direct result of incorrect and negligent servicing of the Haldex. You have sought technical advice which confirms its highly probable they drained the differential instead of the Haldex which is known to lead to exactly the damage observed. Demand the dealer raise a "case" with Skoda UK technical and that Skoda UK contact you directly. Only a dealer can raise a case with Skoda UK. You then should eventually be contacted by a case manager (mine were always based in Sheffield). Make sure to keep notes of all that is said by everyone. Again repeat what I advised you to say in the previous paragraph Note that raising a case is not the same as you contacting Skoda Customer Care, which is merely a PR telephone helpline for for answering simple queries and has no real clout to resolve disputes. Tell them you are unavailable for the period you are in hospital/under treatment. Wait until you have exhausted this route before moving to the next level.
  9. For the diesel, consider creating an account on either fuelly (https://www.fuelly.com/) or spritmonitor (https://www.spritmonitor.de/en/) to keep an online record of all your mpg data. Using brim-to-brim numbers would make it much more 'real' than the day-to-day observations of trip consumption figures. At least with fuelly, and probably with the other one, they do a little signature thing so the current average is constantly displayed with every post you make. For someone so interested in this parameter, it would make sense to do this, I think.
  10. 4x4^2 ... does that mean it has 64 little wheels??
  11. Could you name an EV that's large enough to replace a Mk. 3 Superb for a similar price? By running an 8-year old Superb which was bought outright back in 2013, with decent fuel consumption & low average miles, (38K miles soon) I'm being nicer to the planet than someone who buys an new EV, manufactured with many expensive materials & powered from a National Grid that's lacking enough base-load generating plant.
  12. I believe the car was recovered to the Skoda dealer that did the service, which is exactly the right thing to do. So long as the recovery was professionally carried out (RAC) there should be no problem. They also had the first opportunity to inspect the car and discuss a resolution.
  13. Any courtesy/hire car should be only be provided by the dealer/garage or Skoda UK with no strings attached (make it crystal clear) By very wary if an insurer or third party offers a courtesy/hire car, if the legal claim is unsucessful, the OP will end up paying for it at massive cost as its provided speculatively through a third party arrangement at a premium rate. There is also a legal precendent in common use nowadays that limits a claim for costs of hire cars in unresolved insurance claims to a maximum of seven days hire.
  14. Some of Johns posts are a little ambiguous, but hopefully all will come clear and it will end well for him.
  15. I do like a good reflection (Rufford Park and Chatsworth) ........
  16. I’ve also had several, exact same email. With that many missing pieces of important info only Stevie Wonder would have clicked on the link, surely?! .
  17. It’s a scam. I’ve had three already this week. There’s a warning on gov website if you google it.
  18. Well this is a turn up for the books! Can't really understand why you would want to get rid of the car after doing the stage 1 and singing its praises over the vast pages of this thread for fuel economy and performance when required. As others have said it feels like theres something you're not telling us and also I can't believe any main dealer is going to a: let a car of this spec and rarity go straight to auction and b: sell it as is remapped with all the mentioned concerns about warranty issues etc. My previous car (traded in) was restored back to standard from the bluefin and has been sold to someone now (tax, mot and insured) but I bet the dealer probably applied the dieselgate update to it at the very least which would have overwritten the map even if I had left it on there. Private sale I can understand declaring it's been modified and letting any potential buyer choose if they want it that way but a car of this age is gonna go through the forecourt (unlike my old 10 year old 60 plater) for sure so they will want to protect their integrity and avoid any unneccessary warranty issues by making sure it has the latest offical skoda software versions on it IMHO....
  19. Which us why I would trade it in and not bother with waiting for experts and timewasters.
  20. I had this happen last year. Take a plastic trim tool to prise the flap a little. Squirt plenty of silicone spray on the plunger. Unlock & lock a few times until it frees up.
  21. Simply Clever "CostCutting"
  22. I did that with my first car, advertised on here and sold it very reasonably priced, reduced to allow for replacement of the air con comoressor. , not before I got some idiotic omments and frankly wished I hadn't bothered. The buyer test drove it and commented it was in better nick than other Mk2 VRS 2 years younger. Far easier to chop in at a dealership with no worries about payment
  23. Cushions on car seats are dangerous. In a frontal collision the cushion and the sitter are propelled forwards and down and could slip with the deceleration and the sitter “submarines “ with it beneath the seatbelt. Car seats are designed to minimise this and putting a cushion on them totally defeats this feature. Defeating the purpose of seat heating is nothing in comparison.
  24. Ahh, yes... Think of the melted trousers and burnt leg! Never been a fan of the high-up exhaust pipes! They have a Mutt place near me. Some bits look nice, others iffy. Don't like the brown saddle for a start. As for Chinese, they are set to own the world of motorcycles, like Japan did back in the late seventies/early eighties! The quality is coming along in leaps and bounds. An early Chinese imported by a farmer, in a crate (The machine, not the farmer) model of five years ago simply cannot compare with shop purchased ones now.
  25. Don't worry, I got the joke .....
  26. Sounds like the rubber boot on the drop link has a split / hole in it. A drop-link can be bought from ECP etc cheaply and easily changed.

It is indeed! I work in software development and spend a lot of time digging around various user interfaces, bit of a foot in mouth moment.

I'm an absolute idiot, I was tapping the "Pixel 4" text instead of Android Auto... quite embarrassing!!
  29. The car will keep reminding you as your mileage decreases but at 1300m left should easily take a large container's (10l?) worth.

  31. Absolutely nothing wrong with the car just people speculating as usual and I defy anyone to test drive it and not want to buy it unless they are not wanting the hatch rather than the estate or Black doesn't appeal to them. This is why I put xman on my ignore list because he's talking bull as usual.

Yeah, "My arse is cold" worked for the seats and "turn the blowers down/off" worked for the air con speed for me.
  33. Funny how they now have a workshop again.
  34. I have to agree with you regarding the sound system. I picked mine up yesterday and have been relieved by the sound quality if not blown away. The way some folk go on you'd think it was terrible.
  35. Swapped the pins, as @MartinB explained, n its looking good now!! woOot. Haven't gone for an actual drive, but it seems to b remembering the start-stop state.
  36. Been road tripping, down to C & M, lovely and quiet on a Tuesday

I got mine from superskoda I’ve changed the Skoda badging to the new style and the vrs badges are black front and back. They even do a black Octavia badge if you wanted to go that far
  39. There are 2 versions of Columbus:- - MIB2 with buttons on the side - MIB2.5 without buttons (from MY18 onwards) Mine is MY17.
  40. Regarding the independent inspection, if you were to drive out of the dealers and something went 'crunch' and the car stopped, I guess it's natural to contact the dealers for them to come get you and rectify it. Would you suggest ringing the dealer straight away but arranging your own recovery for an independent inspection before letting the dealer inspect it?
  41. Its not just the 'Diff' that's cracked in this conversation !!!!
  42. So far so happy Things of note after 2 days ownership: Loving the DSG - the kickdown, the proper manual control, especially with the paddles Power feels a chunk more than the very similarly powered Legacy, though will still be going Revo Stage 1 Was never one for cruise control, but again liked it, though the adaptive part is a bit severe, would prefer it to hit gentler The lane departure system might need to be turned off, but will give it some time So surprised my very old iPod Classic connected straight away, have to remove ashtray to hide it, would prefer neater solution, but works for me Android car worked well, but only either iPod or phone connected through usb, would prefer both Bluetooth works good, sound quality on a call is excellent Will need more bass!!! No doubt, sub set to 9, still no where near what I would want Suspension is definitely softer than the Bilstein's on the Subaru, but with chronic bad back, that might be a good thing Sitting on nearly new Michelin Pilot Sport 4s, first time with these on a car, so far so good Seems to have been spec'd oddly... some high end bits, some obvious options missing, biggest is the tail gate is not electrical Skoda Connect was a bit of a pain, but sorted Missing an umbrella and first aid kit, might look to get replacements

I picked my car up Saturday and it’s showing the same as yours WhiskeyJamjar. You will have to let me know how you get on.
  44. It’s In two parts a rigid piece that fits the hole and a bendy piece with Velcro on the bottom to stick to the boot carpet
  45. Once again, for whoever wants them, here is my latest customised version of EU Speedcams ( August, 2020 ). They consist of EU speed cameras which I've split up into four consolidated poi categories i.e. Fixed Speedcams, Average Speedcams, Variable Speedcams and Redlight Speedcams. They come supplied with my own preferred personal choice of icons for each category which are shown below. Remember to Install them as I explained in the first post in this thread i.e. after extracting the zip file remember to place only the PersonalPOI folder and metainfo2.txt file onto your sd card ( Please Note: a usb stick will not work! ). Also, please remember to select/tick the relevant newly added poi categories and the poi audible warning alert in your infotainment menu settings after performing the update or they will not display on your map or audibly alert you. Enjoy! EU Speedcams August, 2020.zip
