  1. Just seen it’s on the UK configurator!

Measuring the voltage of a battery alone can be misleading as you are reading the voltage with a high resistance voltmeter so the battery is effectively on open circuit ( i.e.no current flowing). Voltages of 2.77 and 2.5 are both low and suggest duff batteries. Perhaps the fob is discharging your batteries? Even if the battery voltage read 3.0 volts there is still the possibility that it would not deliver sufficient current.
  3. Thanks! I'll see what I can find out and report back
  4. Best all-round car I have had. L&K 272 Hatch. Smooth and relatively economical, same mpg as my 245 Golf GTI bigger quicker and loaded.
  5. Now watch your bank balance plummet !
  6. 1) Estate looks MUCH better than hatch... Buy in red .. 2) Sportline looks sporty. L&K for ultimate kit I have SEL. It's OK 3) 2.0 Petrol of course ! Must be 272 or 280 - 280 Has Exhaust flaps so thats pretty much the one to go for ....
  7. "Nice trip upto Scotland last week! 1200miles and never skipped a beat! Managed to get nearly 500 miles to a tank which i'm well happy with!" Could you do that in one of those new fangled electric things ? You know, those that only go to the end of the avenue and need a top up re charge
  8. I have one of these, have you thought about them? 272ps, 4Motion etc
  9. We looked around a number of cars when replacing our old Mk2 estate. We took our dog crate around to Skoda/VW/Seat/BMW/Volvo/Merc and tried it in "equivalent" sized estates. The Octavia was a clear winner. Surprisingly non of the dealers batted an eyelid when we asked to try the crate in their shiny new display cars! Its a crude test but an effective way of measuring real world space.
  10. For the price you have set you might want to consider Wheelworld. They are a known mass wheel manufacturer in Germany whose wheels are also TUV certified (that's the important part compared to cheaper ebay replicas) with many designs and several sub-brands. I run the V2 from them in 18x8.5" for my winter set (and previously had their V1 too) and they have been fine https://v1-wheels.de/k1/Felgen They are also quite light at 10.5kg which improves the steering feel and turn-in of the car significantly. I would strongly advise going for a lighter alloy than the stock one and definitely not for steel wheels if you care about driving even a little bit.

I think the same spark plug is used in all EA211 (cambelt) engines with turbo. So the same for all 1.0tsi, 1.2tsi, 1.4tsi, not certain about the 1.5tsi though. Double platinum Bosch plug as above. If you buy from Eurocarparts, don't forget to apply the discount code which will fetch the price down to about £10 each. Free delivery, and you can return them for a full refund anytime up to 365 days after purchase provided they are unopened of course, no quibble, thats a great thing about ECP. So you can keep them in your boot just in case, if you want you could keep returning them year after year and repurchasing! The price quoted by your dealer indicates they live in cloud cuckoo land and don't deserve your business.

Tenuously on topic in relation to bodge jobs on seat belts and the RAC blue book. I saw an enclosed glass fibre kit car racer presented for Scrutineering at Lydden Hill once, either a Ginetta or a Marcos, one look at it told you it was a shed and the closer you got the more embarrassing the bodges you saw, the scrutineer had a fit when he saw that the 3 point harness upper mounting was attached to the roll cage by a jubilee clip I kid you not!
  13. Too messy for me and getting diesel over the cambelt and other belts is dangerous territory so beware of potential engine damage that can occur in this situation. Hence why I prefer leaving it to the professionals.
  14. Made a new centre console, also holds the dash in place as ive removed all the supports. Not perfect but not too bad.
  15. I have a Kodiaq and it’s the right hand side that pushes in on my right hand drive vehicle (ie operated by the thumb), the left is static. I wonder if it’s the interlock stopping you pushing it in or perhaps it is already in and springs out when connected? Sorry I can’t be more helpful.
  16. NO, it is another menu appear after MIB was patched if you swap left or right you will see lap counter as a part of this sport monitor, will make a photo tomorrow
  17. Buy Bosch aeros. Worked immediately for me, and just as good nearly a year on. Same on most cars I have had. The basic problem is that the OEM-fit ones are rubbish blades.....
  18. Indeed, spent another £100 today on stuff!
  19. Good tip, I've had Nightbreakers before and they only lasted a year.
  20. Anybody else find it strange that the OP has not logged onto the forum since they left the first post in this thread?
  21. Mine is also 5 and next March will be 6 years old. I overheard a discussion at My local Skoda dealers that they price matched where they could. I got a quote from another local garage for the belt and politely requested Skoda dealer to price match. The local garage quoted for both belt and water pump which the Skoda dealer after much puffing about labour costs begrudgingly agreed to match it. In went my car for the work to be done. I then went to collect my car and carefully checked the invoice and the price was matched as promised. I then asked why was no water pump listed, you have matched the price but not the work as my car does not need a pump (As in Dave's post above) So I was being invoiced for parts and work that was not carried out and in any case was not needed. I asked how much to supply and fit the pump and as they had done neither, to knock that cost off my invoice, they were not happy and reported that two separate jobs were more expensive (which I fully understood, but just wanted them to squirm a bit longer) In the end we mutually agreed on a total price. I learnt a lot from my Dad, He marked anything he knew was to be replaced or serviced so he could check the job had been according to spec and if any job was not done properly there was trouble! So, I got the job done by Skoda Dealer but at a local garage price.
  22. MY 20 had Skoda lettering - that was introduced end 2019 The changed over to MY 21 cars around August - wk 30 to 34 - so a week 37 car should be MY21 with new steering wheel ... maybe wireless Charger... maybe Wirless Apple Car Play?
  23. So it seems. V90 would be it I think. Good prices too for the t4 engine. I feel some test drives coming.
  24. 280 also for the port injectors. No worries about carbon buildup. On a serious note, town driving on the 280 probably means sub 10km/L. My short nursery runs are 6km/L at 2miles round trip... But I guess any car will suffer. Longer trips easily 11-15km/L depending how much speed you want.
  25. zackdaman has done it. I believe it can be done in module 5F Instruments electrical. There are several options there under adaptatio to change welcome screen, dials etc. Cannot remember exact combination. Hasn`t done it myself yet.
  26. You won't find one at 20k yet, they were dealer allocation only from mid 2019, and only 150 came to UK including 240ps diesel version. Yes, similar to Superb in many ways, tbh it actually has slightly less rear legroom, but has full IQLight matrix LED headlights, Columbus spec nav, electric seats & boot, area view cameras and auto pilot style cruise control, DCC etc. as standard. I got an excellent deal on mine, and figured residuals may be better than the Superb.
  27. All sorted this morning after doing chasing lol Been reading it on and off while waiting and theres certainly a ton of info there!

Carparts4less although owned by ECP usually slightly cheaper 3 for £27 sounds a bit better than the dealer to me. just realised that's a 90% saving!!
  29. The 'Approved Used Skoda Warranty' T&C's are here. Next to the New Car T&C's. http://skoda.co.uk/owners/warranty Others Used Warranties can be different, very different. like some RAC ones with 'Used Cars' that might have a £750 limit. Each needs checking. 32529_skoda_approved_used_warranty_doc_v3.72110e7831bce3d9427fded26bdd2652.pdf
  30. The VW Golf Estate isn't even close to what the Octavia Estate can carry, couldn't really comment on the Seat. Essentially the Octavia is just a stretched Golf but if you've ever looked at a Golf closely, it has far less space in the rear than an Octavia, both for passengers and for luggage. It just depends whether you need all the space that the Octavia has. I find mine very useful, there isn't much that I can't get into it! I added the variable load floor as an option on my car as I found it a handy way of keeping the boot area tidy by putting all of the odds and ends underneath the floor area.
  31. They look great. Did a similar drive out a few year back in a MR2. Great driving roads.
  32. @tricky1138 Better take a picture, than regret not having taken it... Once it's missed, it's too late...
  33. Yep they all sit on a removable plastic tray, Unfortunate there's not a read made aftermarket tray available so it up to you to buy a universal tray and make brackets. I simply made mine out of "L" brackets and a rally style battery tray. Battery tray and brackets Old batteyr tray New tray installed
  34. I'd take out the pollen / cabin filter and do a clean with one of the air con cleaning bomb products ... https://www.holtsauto.com/holts/products/air-con-cleaner/ first before fitting the new filter. Any new filter will do.
  35. Consider fitting an LCD voltmeter module somewhere where you will be able to see it from outside the car. I found an 'unwanted' one at work that has an operating current of only 350uA. It needed a 5V regulated supply for which I added an efficient regulator. The total addition to the car's quiescent current is just 0.5mA. Obviously at that power level it isn't backlit, but phone (or other) torch can help if you want to read it in the dark before opening the car.
  36. I never knew this website existed before, thanks.
  37. "He" is a she, and she is not ignoring anything. She just has a bunch of other responsibilities to juggle, and unfortunately the car is quite low down that list so she hasn't yet had chance to investigate every theory put to her.

  39. Problem solved, enigma resolved, a very simple answer and solution. The tailgate latch has 2 positions, a half latched and a fully closed & locked position, the luggage compartment lights only go out on the second fully closed position. Using my finger I had not pushed the locking hook past the first position. I dont recall the previous cars having this but maybe they did, on those I had not fitted high level LED's on the D pillar to disturb my rear view mirror vision.
  40. Probably also because the assessment of state of charge is approximate rather than exact, and if it were set to 100% it could result in overcharge/damage, and waste of energy. Edit: Possibly also because when put in for emissions test cycle analysis during EU type testing the cars are allowed to start the tests with battery fully charged (I seem to remember). This would result in the possibility that during test cycle the battery management could operate its normal software whilst also never or barely having to load the alternator, as it could decline to 80% charge before any charging was invoked... Jus' wondrin'...
  41. As an example, here’s an 8 hour data logged session from a 2014 2.0TDi VW Caddy with a 096 AGM. It shows fluctuating voltage based on current demands from the vehicle. The ‘A’s in the graph are engine starts where current draw is at its maximum. Depending on the system current requirements, the voltage is changed to allow charging, maintaining or battery only power supply. There is no S/S feature on this vehicle but the energy management principle is the same. Neg current shows when drawing off the battery and voltage is low, Pos charging current when the alternator is operational and voltage is high. There is a significant current draw midpoint from an external device spliced into the harness that didn’t switch off with the ignition. The charge profile immediately called for high current next engine start to recover the battery charge state and tapers off back to normal once the battery is good. its constantly monitored and adjusted.
  42. I cannot answer the MPG question as i do not own one but am interested in others replies, one other thing to take into account though with the how out of fashion diesel has become, the govt could well introduce all manner of punishments for those who own oil burners in the future, it has already been looked at in London with the newer congestion charging figures........ consider how the landscape may change for diesel going forward. it is something we may not be able to forsee.
  43. Thats great news - Glad thats it sorted .. Its a good job I wasnt involved I would have had everything apart and going in a complete tangent and still not sort it Simple at the end
  44. It's always struck me as being 'make-up for cars'.
  45. Cheers. I put Eibach pro-kit springs on my Sportline DCC this summer and while it's still not perfect there's noticeable improvement compared to stock, for the price it costs I would definitely recommend them as a first step especially if you can fit them yourself. You can read about in the links I have below under my signature. However, when I did this there were no DCC compatible shocks and I would like to retain the ride adjustability so I didn't even consider anything more radical. Recently Bilstein released their renown B6 DampTronic series as Superb-compatible and given that I come from cars I was tracking I am very very tempted to have a go at them, given that they cost little over 1000EUR and all other DCC compatible coilovers are closer to 1800+EUR. That been said, I reckon on a Sportline DCC like yours Eibachs are going to provide all the improvement the average driver is after.
  46. I have a Xiaomi phone and everything works fine. 1. Check that the contacts sharing option in your phone is switched ON (Settings/Bluetooth/My Skoda......./Contacts sharing) 2. Check if your contacts are on the phone or the SIM. Sometimes SIM contacts does not import properly 3. Upgrade to the latest MIUI version for your phone. The old ones were very buggy
  47. Thanks for the advice everyone! I went ahead and purchased it! Picking up next Saturday. Skoda Octavia vrs 245 2017 dsg meteor grey. It looked immaculate and really clean inside. All the extras like power adjustable seats, heated seats, all the black bits or the exterior are what did it for me. Now just need to sell on my Golf as they offered me £500 less than every other dealer. But wasn't a deal breaker as my Golf is only worth about £1,500, so will whack it on the local Facebook selling groups and autotrader. I'll fire up some pictures on the new members section once I pick it up. #teamprimer
  48. This beauty arrived at my door at 8am this morning. Strangest new car collection ever!
  49. What happened to the Dekra independant inspection that you were going to have? You should not even be engaging with them considering the K-rap they are coming out with let alone considering accepting a goodwill gesture. Their negligence has destroyed your differential and could have caused a serious accident, I sincerely hope that you had the independant inspection done before they got their hands on it. They have you on the back foot and are trying to get away with as little as possible, you should not facilitate this. If it were me, and I appreciate that everyone is different & respect whatever you ultimately decide to do, I would say to them "Stop right there! The only thing that we can possibly negotiate is how much compensation you are going to pay me over and above repairing my vehicle at your cost with new parts, paying my breakdown recovery costs, the independant inspection and my legal fees to date, otherwise I will simply let the court decide, there is no question about your negligence and responsability for the consequences"
  50. For your information, steming from our replies...I have since cancelled my car insurance to RAC fully ,insuring my car and recovery and using their approved garage to sort out my dilemmas...Thank you for recommending me to contact them. I'm having my second call with the main dealer escalation team at 3pm today. Thanks again
