  1. So the time has come to move my beloved Octy on and I’m super pumped to say that I’ve paid my deposit on this lovely lean green machine 💚 It’s a 2019 Superb SportLine Plus 2.0 TDI 150 DSG with the following options Variable Boot Floor Folding tow bar Exclusive Dragon Green paint That’s all it has for now but there’s a laundry list of retrofits to get through on it in time. It’s having a service and DSG oil change currently along with a full prep this week for collection in early March. I legit can’t wait to finally be a Superb owner!!!!
  2. Hi Everyone, Did the upgrade myself over the weekend and the parts I needed were:- 5E0 863 229 9B9 Cover left Škoda 5E0 863 230 9B9 Cover Right Škoda 5E0 857 346 A 9B9 Cover Škoda 5E0 857 289 F 9B9 Center Tunnel Cover Škoda 5E0 863 284 D 9B9 Storage Compartment - Rear Škoda It was cheaper to order the USB adapter with the wiring loom which is plenty long enough from Ali Express and takes it's power from the cigarette lighter. The fiddliest part is the cigarette lighter, I found it easier in the end to pop the middle part out using my finger. There were only 4 torx's screws I had to remove from the rear console and the air vent unit and ashtray pop out relatively easily, tools I used, Torx's 20 and a set of trim tools for the gear stick surround. As previously mentioned, Ali Express do offer the complete unit including usb adapter, I felt more comfortable sourcing most of the parts locally and wanted to replace like for like with the ashtray. I've attached before during and after pictures, hope it helps someone thinking of doing the upgrade. These are the steps I took to do the upgrade. As always, do your own research, perform these upgrades at your own risk and remember it's so easy to break something so be patient if you do decide to go ahead.
  3. The Superb has gone. We've stuck a deposit down on a BMW 330i M Sport Plus. Hopefully getting delivered this week. While it's down on power, it's an ex demonstrator so it's got all the kit, including all of the M Sport upgrades (wheels, brakes, lsd), along with electronic tailgate, laser lights, tri-zone climate control, heated seats + steering wheel, virtual cockpit, Harmon Kardon upgrade, reverse assist, adaptive suspension, rear charge points, heads up display, unlock and start the car with a digital key on your phone phone, leather interior, wireless charging, Apple CarPlay. There's probably more I've forgot. I'll miss the Superb, but we'll move on.
  4. So, this draws us to a close on this thread, no more updates as the lovely Octy has been sold and replaced with something new for collection in early March. If you want to follow the progress on the new toy, the thread is linked below.
  5. Yep, Move & Fun died after the last update back in November. I have had half a dozen or so email exchanges with Skoda who are "looking into it". Yeah right
  6. Just do it the proper way from now on, it will take more than one charging for the BMS to correct its view of the battery SoC but it will get there. BTW since lockdown 1 last year I've been using a 15W solar charger from Amazon plugged into the 12V socket in the centre console - start/stop works within a couple of miles of leaving home (when allowed out!) and the battery voltage never drops below 12.6V
  7. To be honest, because rapid charging miles will be so few for my use-case (before Covid, once a month to add up to 80 miles return (calc based on m3 SR) and once or twice a year longer road trips), I don't mind paying premium to receive good service. Daily charging at 2p/mile more than outweighs 36p/mile when travelling. Which means up to £1 per kWh to charge at my car's maximum speed (#1), to have the wider easy access space available (#2) when I arrive and the chargers guaranteed working (#3). Refreshments and facility within safe walking distance (#4). I will be travelling with young family, reliability + convenience is key. Ionity pricing is indeed too expensive for their service, it doesn't satisfy #3 and #4 with just 4 chargers at strange locations. The MK Coachway charging hub is just one example I've been, toilet needs to pay fee and it's is across a large car park. BP Pulse 150kW are being installed at motorway petrol stations, you'd have to walk across the petrol station forecourt and sometimes across lorry parking to get to services. Not safe with young children. Gridserve is brilliant, satisfies all my needs. We definitely need more of those. Of course, when I'm travelling alone and not under time pressure, I'd seek out cheapest way to get the most miles. I'm a penny pincher after all. If it means queuing or using slower chargers, then so be it. So I think the key is to have multiple layers of options if we are realistic that Gridserve can't cover whole UK. Starting at cheapest 50kW at back of the car park and gets more expensive as speed increases and its distance to refreshment + facility decreases.
  8. At last and after a long break - here's the latest update of my customised version of EUR Speedcams ( February, 2021). They consist of the full EUROPE speed cameras which I've split up into four consolidated poi categories i.e. Fixed Speedcams, Average Speedcams, Variable Speedcams and Redlight Speedcams. They come supplied with my own preferred personal choice of icons, shown below, to match each of the categories. Remember to Install them as I explained in the first post in this thread i.e. after extracting the zip file remember to open the newly extracted folder and place only the PersonalPOI folder and metainfo2.txt file onto your sd card ( Please Note: a usb stick will not work! ). Also, please remember to select/tick the relevant newly added poi categories and the poi audible warning alert in your infotainment map menu settings after performing the update or they will not display on your map or audibly alert you. Hope you all enjoy them! EUR Speedcams February, 2021.zip
  9. For once plans worked out, and today I got my reversing camera fitted up and working. Relatively handy job, though I will admit i was paranoid about damaging trims and clips so it's not quite how I wanted it with the route for the wire. It can't be seen though which is the main thing, so I'll probably leave it as its. 😆 New camera replaced old handle. Biggest headache was feeding the cable through here. Of course I ran a lead for a rear dash cam at the same time since I had the trim surrounds removed, and just because 1 lead wasn't enough misery 🤦‍♂️ Unexpectedly discovered that it all worked once connected up. I had expected it to need coding to the car. Added bonus was the moving guide lines 😎
  10. Suggest petrol for those kind of mileages. A 1.4 or 1.5 tsi is perfectly okay. If you want high spec go for an SE-L. Nice example here: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202101087777608?atmobcid=soc3
  11. so sleep was interrupted and both swmbo and i were on online traini g courses today so, given i was up later than planned, and had no buffer time available i had to cut it to a short short route. only 9km, but a grand start to the day. also lost a good minute when i somehow managed to rerail the chain of my front sprocket! no idea how. stupid grip shifter.
  12. Try setting ACC to Eco in the Individual drive mode settings, it backs off much sooner then and rarely needs to brake.
  13. Thanks for the info, the more complex ones I’ll be doing down the line, just can’t wait to have it in front of me haha
  14. Checked wheel well. Dust - so that’s a good sign 😂 I did borrow a small electric dehumidifier- get that in it tomorrow. I’m pretty sure it’s that hose. Wherever it came from it came in fast. No musty smell in car so it’s not be there long, and we were in car around Xmas & it was dry. So a lot of water came in in the last few weeks. That hose would explain that amount of water that quickly. Thanks for the oven tip. I know a few panel beaters. If it’s not drying out I’ll say it to one of them.
  15. Thanks for all your advice.
  16. I would have said the price was ok-not great but ok, as long as it had a minimum of a years warranty. Two would be better still. Many companies like Kwik-Fit, etc used to use Walkers parts and they seem to live for the warranty and may be just a little longer. Get a genuine Skoda parts quote too, so you know where you stand. They WILL have two years and will almost certainly outlive that!
  17. I am guessing you will need to get a part code for this from your local dealer. You might find a used one but so often, I have found dealers to be lower priced then breakers yards and it will be new! Get the quite for the part and ask for the part number, to be sure. If you need to go back to them, you will have the part number to hand and be able to make them feel good by being cheaper or able to source the elusive part.
  18. I would always buy nearly new if keeping. I bought mine 4months old. It was 47k new and with only a couple of thousand miles on it, it stands me something like 28.5k by the time I brought it over here and fitted a towbar. That’s to much of a saving to warrant buying brand new IMO.
  19. Welcome. As to the Full Service History on a Motability car if on Variable / Flexible servicing that meant 1st oil and Filter change at 24 months so maybe 2019. Maybe a pollen filter changed. Then 3 months before hand back a service that might have meant an Oil & Filter change, but maybe not, and no Pollen or Air Filter change, Brake Fluid change and a MOT. So check what the record shows was done. Than at 4 years old if no oil change at 3 year, the 2nd Oil & Filter change was due. I expect the car will be fine. Did the Dealer buy it at auction when 3 years old and had it ever since? The 2 year Warranty will be fine and the car as good as any other used car despite the low miles. Are the brakes and tyres / wiper blades all good, rims unmarked, screen unchipped etc etc ?
  20. @freemansteve It was a posh estate where a locksmith lived i drove by his house and down the road an then had to call him.

He said I had until the 7 th to make some changes to my spec then the order would go in. The delay and the change of packs made me change to the kuga plug in ( waited until the fix on the kuga was done) I will go all electric but do think skoda are going to have a few teething problems at first with this car when it comes in Aug/Sept. Should get the kuga in late may early June as only just put the order in plus it's 0% .
  22. That is HW or SW? HW 3Q0 980 654 without index or with index A (H06+) can also work with Traffic Jam Assist after proper parametrization.

Hopefully there will be some updates this week. They will be concentrating on the car this week.
  25. I retrofitted pACC too (not just by myself) and you need 3Q0 front camera and ACC radar 5Q0 with index G/H or better 3QF radar. 27. Ah...that's good to know that Chris is Okay. I too miss contact (through this forum) with him. He is such a nice chap and taught me loads.
  28. also: clean windows mist less than dirty ones. Up here you'll see below -15 or so that rear windows ice up on the inside... and thick snow on the outside can mean condensation on the inside if you're using a cabin heater. Bottom line? humidity is far more of an issue above zero. And moving air will also shift the condensation off, just slower.
  29. I use their wheel brushes, detailing brushes and wash mitts. I can’t speak for the rest of their products but the ones mentioned are all fine, work and last well.
  30. I think 434 is the answer, but if you take apart your current key/fob, you should find the info printed on it somewhere, e.g.
  31. I think I will go for it then I get back and say if it did work or not
  32. Photographic memory. Thread in this section 21 st June 2018. Got that from a Google search
  33. Just some general pieces of advice... If you've only one copy you have no backup. It doesn't matter where it is. Don't trust things just because they are in "the cloud" or provided by a big compnay like Google or MS. "The Cloud" = Someone else's computer. Always think if you are happy for your stuff to only be stored on "someone else's computer". The big players all have history of deleting/losing peoples stuff, suddenly discontinuing services or changing terms; all of which can mess up your files. If you're not paying for storage on the cloud then you can have no expectation of service i.e. they can lose your stuff and you have no comeback.
  34. I don't bother anymore, there are so many speed camera sites around us it would beep every minute or so, there were three sites between home and my daughter's flat two miles away. Instead I set cruise to a couple of MPH below the old ACPO guidelines and relax . . . . . . not been caught since 2011. Sooner or later you will find a van/camera that isn't in the database or an unmarked car. Speeding regularly isn't worth the risk.
  35. @e-Roottoot Impressively cheap charging. The cost of the Chargeplace Scotland card is money well-spent. You're very lucky to have such a scheme, nothing similar here. In fact the WAG are so far behind the times they are only now recognising that there is a need for charging infrastructure. @wyx087 I think I'll be similar and would need to get over my objection to 69p charging. Good way of looking at it.
  36. From what I have seen here in NZ you're not going to save a lot if you want decent tyres... I mean there are these in original size... https://www.hyperdrive.co.nz/product/4311/tri-ace-prada?associated=257579
  37. Best way to bleed the ABS unit is to run it using the VCDS bleeding procedure but before I had VCDS and was in the same situation I first bled each corner, quite a few times I will add, and the thing that finally sorted it for me was bleeding the both the rears and then the fronts in tandem.
  38. Mk3 Octavia 1.2 tsi does have a cambelt.
  39. Nothing wrong with that. Ive been doing loads on my newly acquired MK1 prepping it for track days. going into more detail than anticipated as we, (I) have loads of time. I'll be interested to see your completed project.
  40. Cold air holds less moisture than warm air. The aircon dehumidifies warm wet air by cooling it down so that the moisture condenses out. It then warms it up again to give warm dry air suitable for demisting the windows. If the air is already cold then it doesn't need dehumidifying. Just warming it up will give the warm dry air that you need. If you don't have aircon and the outside air is warm and wet, then you can still demist your windows by warming the air up some more. This will make it uncomfortably hot inside the car, but it will clear the windows, and is what you had to do in the olden days or if you've bought a cheap car.
  41. Skoda Catalog [europa] (7zap.com) That's what I'd use. Don't try it on a phone. they tend to reduce the number of columns of info, often dropping important ones.
  42. You might want to consider a front wishbone performance kit from Whiteline or similar, as a first step. https://ukwhitelineperformance.com/collections/all/products/kca462-bushing-kit I had one of their anti-lift kits which performs similarly, fitted to my old remapped Mk5 Golf GT Sport 170 TDI. It made a big difference to the way that the front wheels put 330 lbs-ft onto the road.
  43. I think things have moved quite a bit with the sff cases, certainly the ones I'm looking at take up to 5 or 6 120mm fans if needed. I definitely don't want loads of noise so was going to get quiet ones (noctua most likely). There's an arguement that you get more movement of air in a little case as you don't have stagnant volume. I mainly just want to stop having a big tower under my desk, getting the dust in it from the floor, free up leg room and have a little one up top.
  44. The designer of the next gen 4 series has said he felt that the car had to split opinions. They wanted to do something different. I suspect the fact that the Chinese love big grills had more to do with the styling than they would like to admit
  45. The dealers use Quantum oil it is one of the cheapest options available at £30 for 5 litres and that's even buying retail, trade price is lower.
  46. I think the paid version of Carista can do it too. As an aside, turning on the ignition with any part of the airbag system disconnected will result in a fault code that needs VAG compatible diagnostics to reset.
  47. Over the last several months I have gratefully used the knowledge of people on this forum to assist me in the buying process here in Cyprus. Finally ordered my car in 11/2020 and got delivery last week on 02/02/2021. Considering that we are in Cyprus and an initial timeframe of 3 months minimum was given to us, this time of having the keys in our hand in around 10 weeks (with COVID prevailing still) is fantastic. One thing that I will appreciate specifically is the assistance that was provided to us by our sales manager in Skoda. Car dealerships in Cyprus are known monsters to care as little as possible about prospective buyers/customers. Mainly because the whole industry is a nexus (one family owns several brands and there is zero competition i.e. no one else on the island will own a dealership of the same brand). On to my experience: MySKoda app: Before I went to collect the car I had setup the dreaded MySkoda app on my S9+. The reviews in Android play store and on every group/forum pointed towards one and only one supposed fact - The app is useless, does not work most times and do not waste your time. But considering that I had nothing to lose I decided to give it a go. To my surprise the installation of the app and initial setup (add a car) was pretty easy and finished in a jiffy. All I needed was the VIN for my car and voila, car added and waiting for activation for which I needed my car and two keys. Delivery day: Went quite smooth. I had a checklist which I had written up and in about an hour's time I had verified all that I wanted to. Car was in great shape and we loved the color "Business Grey". The ad on 18" TRINITY anthracite wheels gave it a super look as the grey in the wheels went well with the overall colour. For those who are interested the car has the following features: Now I still did not believe that the activation process waited by the MySkoda app will go through flawlessly. So in I went to my car, sat down with my two keys and did as the app asked me to. At some point I got a message "synchronizing profile" and you should have been that to see the face of the sales manager. He was almost sure this will not work . That is surely a vote to the confidence that Skoda employees have on their own app. Well the sync finished, app started showing my car and I could use all features immediately (except the features like lock/unlock which require specific activation by the dealer - will get this sorted next week). For those who might be interested I could even change my nickname (multiple times) and it correctly updated in the car each and every time. Initial setup: First thing I did after we completed the delivery was to connect the infotainment using Wireless Android Auto. I must say worked like a charm. Connected to bluetooth, got message on infotainment to use AA, selected it and that is it. Now when I enter the car with my phone AA is connected (did not fail a single time) and I can use all AA apps without any problems (touch wood :)). Next came setting up the home screen (there are two pages) and the favourites pull down menu. This also was pretty straightforward...This is when I faced my first bug of the software although it is pretty minor - When I press the "home' button on the infotainment unit, instead of going to the "first" page of the home screen menu, I land up at the "second" page. Until now have not found any workaround for this. Now the only part of setup which I still want to do is to setup the Canton equalizer. If anyone has ready links to this then will appreciate you sharing. Driving: As we are in the lockdown period, we have not driven much. The car has 120 odd Kms on it, mostly made up of city and bit of highway driving. The drive has been super smooth. Have not faced any lag (had read a lot about this and had even had a look at racechip just to remove the lag) on traffic lights or at round abouts during stop and go situations. Although this might as well be due to the fact that I am keeping the car at low revs (up to 2K) and I am not going to push the engine until at least 1500 Kms. When driving the sound insulation is excellent and I am sure that the acoustic front windows play a hand in this. You just do not hear anything (yes it is a bit exaggerated) from the outside world. At idle and without music playing, you can hear a bit of the engine sound though. Considering that this is our first diesel car and second car that we now bought (First being a Passt 1.4 TSI in 2009) I am very impressed (always thought that the diesel sound will enter the cabin at driving speeds). Music: We have the Canton system. Have not played with the equalizer. But as a start with its factory settings the sound quality is already very good. I like how I can select manually the "center" of the music area through the sound settings. Also the fact that I can select "surround" as an option. I believe given a bit of a tweek the sound quality will only improve. So this is it folks! Wanted to share my initial experience with the car. If I missed a detail that you would like to know more about then feel free to comment and I will chime in where I can. As I grow with it will definitely share more. Also big thank you to everyone on this forum who helped me out during the decision making buying process. I hope I can repay in kind by helping others. If anyone who is shopping around now and has some questions, feel free to ask. I will try and help out if I have the feature in my car. And to everyone who are on the fence - I would say "BUY IT". This is a value for money car in every sense, so as long as you are fine with the dimensions and have decided on 5 vs 7 seats, then I do not see any other better options out there. Safe Driving!!
  48. On cambelt change, there're a few references in this thread to 5 years or 60,000 miles, but I'm pretty sure it's actually 5 years or 140,000 miles. Skoda confirmed this when i booked mine in earlier this week

Few jobs this week including alloy swap, Heko Wind defelctors, hardwire dashcam, funnel screewash cap.
