  1. This is a photograph I took at the start of the year of my happy place. It's a little path that follows the burn near one of the local villages. Possibly not even half a mile all in but it's nice since the Scouts have done work to the Promised Land gardens and sometimes it's nice just to sit up there and take in the countryside in this lovely part of the world.
  2. Tonights full moon just peeping over roof
  3. Pretty stunning sunset this evening - was incredible to watch the colours change in the space of half an hour.
  4. @cronemeisterDid you never check the oil when you collected the car so cold, or when you got home at operating temp, or the next time when cold? Never assume they actually handed the car back to you with the correct level, then waiting until warning light or message for Low Oil Level is not simply clever.
  5. Pretty bright moon last night, although I understand it will be full tonight
  6. Hi, I have a 2014 skoda octavia mk3 5e vrs 2.0 tdi i am experiencing high oil consumption i have read this could be the reason due to it being stuck open/closed pcv valve. I have read some new cars don't have a pcv. Does anybody know if my car has a pcv?
  7. Trying to big you up my friend....bigging you up!
  8. NO!! You should never fill a can over 10l capacity with petrol, and most garages won't let you because it breaks the Petroleum Regulations.
  9. When you say socket holder do you mean the housing that holds the bulb?
  10. Now detail the engine. 😁👍🏻
  11. Thanks. I will give TPS a call.
  12. Torx were fitted to a Peugeot 309 I had in the early 90's. But this was built in Ryton-on-Dunsmore in Warwickshire not in France. Thanks, AG Falco
  13. Torx came out over 50 years ago. Thanks, AG Falco

Oh yes, definitely get a wheel with a flat bottom… cos road cars steering wheels are supposed to have that… 🙄 When you can turn lock-to-lock in 180 degrees, like an F1 or rally car, they make sense. When your road cars wheel turns lock-to-lock in 450 degrees’ish (complete guess) from the centre in either direction, I’ve found it to be a bloody nuisance as you turn the wheel, as your palm searches for something that inexplicably, ain’t there.
  15. Nick H/CosmoJ, Ok… Have you ever noticed how many people drive with the steering wheel 20cm from their chest, their arms splayed-out like a spatchcock chicken or with their forearms actually resting flat on the wheel and their legs at a 90 degree angle beside their elbows? Or the ones who are so far back, their arms and legs are straight-out and rigid, holding the wheel like they’re on a white knuckle ride. And then there are those who have their feet off the floor when using the pedals because their seat is too high or those with the seat so low, they look through the wheel to the road ahead? When you ask them why they drive in these contortionist positions they say, well it’s the the way I’ve always done it, it’s the most comfortable for me, or I was taught to sit / hold the wheel / lift my legs like that (WTF…Seriously???). And then you ask them if they get tired quickly, or get pains in their arms, legs or bottom and yep, they all do.
  16. Hi Andy. Our clock also went wrong regularly, but once I set it to internet time it has always shown the correct time.

Yeah I also use them on a lot of my journeys and wouldn’t want to be without them. Not always necessary but very useful to have them for pushing along up twisty hills to avoid it either hanging onto gears at high revs in sport or constantly having no torque until it shifts down again from 5th or 6th! In manual can shift around 3k and be in the right range all the time plus it feels like you’re driving an f1 car then! 🤩 Also on a list of potential mods (like fitting vc, heated seats etc) it’s about the easiest - just change the wheel for a like for like one with the paddles and no coding required so it’s not the be all and end all if you can’t find one with it out the factory

You'd have thought the heritage fleet cars would be spot on? Rear mudflaps missing off the MK1 Octavia and the MK1 Fabia vRS rear badge is a mile out of place. Plus they need to have a word with their valeters... Joking apart, nice to see that Skoda even have a heritage fleet, 20 yrs ago that would have been laughed at.
  19. Yeah I need to make a note or set some reminders in my phone to do this every 3 months maybe based on the miles I tend to do. The DSG oil change price above I don't like the look of....may look at purchasing extended warranty/servicing plan....assuming that's covered of course 😄

I use them literally on every journey in fact it would be a deal breaker for me personally.
  21. I normally get a warning to top up before each service is due. It's the first modern car I have owned that requires topping up between services. However, it runs well enough and the oil consumption is consistent.
  22. Yeah i've got the relay from TPS, starting to remove the lower dash this evening to get it swapped over. Wish me luck Wino - i may need to pick yours and Ross's brains some more as we go on!
  23. Not a bad plan. Position 15, bottom right on the relay plate.
  24. The sources seem to be a couple of people on Twitter. That’s it.
  25. The sensor is changed, you were right about the difficult access. The fault has cleared and its starting up properly and light staying off. Just need to do a road test now. Thank you once again
  26. And 1L took me from just below minimum to 3/4 on the dipstick if I remember correctly.
  27. Some use oil, some don't. Mine needed a 1L top up after about 10,000 miles, just before I had it serviced.
  28. Wondering if this might do the job? Just out of curiosity, if the dipstick is just on the minimum level, how many ltr's is it likely to take to get it up to max level ?
  29. That is about right for every V.A.G car I have ever owned around about 1l for every 1000 miles.
  30. yes fair amount of wiggling (non technical term) but the car is up and running......... Checked out your project and was left envious and in awe its amazing what you have done!!!!!!!
  31. When you do miss daisy/old man driving you can hit 48MPG. Taking it with a pinch of salt, but it shows what you can get if, one sits at 60mph. 😂
  32. Thank you Kenai. I was not aware of that feature. But yes - when I selected the info button, the infotainment display confirmed the reason for the restart was "car in front moved away". So this definitely is not a fluke. But unless someone knows better, there seems to be no way for the driver to disable this annoying and unnecessary feature.
  33. Hay-on-wye --- have you tried it with dashes as per left <-
  34. Im pretty sure the EA888 gen 3 has a timing chain not a belt, so agree that it would more likely be fuel or ignition.
  35. Buying Mann filters cheaply just means buying what VW Group fitted at factory, but now being bought without any VW Group identity on it, same for cabin filter, I've been buying Mann Frecious cabin filters for a few years now.
  36. @purephotoni - you need to get the value from your headunit, xor it with C9 D2 and then enter the resulting value. It's mentioned in the video description. It's very unlikely to match the value in the video
  37. Changing to a 8 speed TQ Auto fitted to a diesel BMW engine with x-Drive is a good idea if you do not like how a 7 speed wet clutch DSG is with a TDI.
  38. https://mibsolution.one/#/1/9/MHI2 - HARMAN/Firmware/Skoda - user guest, password guest. If it is really Columbus MIB2.5 -> latest SW is "MHI2_ER_SKG13_P4526_MU1440.7z" Download it, unzip to sd card, put in radio, long press menu, SW update, top right click update, choose sd card and after 20-25 min. done

Absolutely love it 👍 The tight turns are in the trees on the Deer trails and it's a tad heavy to muscle around.... Practice practice practice. I took the battery out and boy is it heavy.... 3.6kgs 😳. Goes down the gravel / fire at a fair old pace 😄 OH thought she was spending £2k 😂 although I did put the other £3.6k plus another £150 or so in pedals and other bits and bobs.... and I need to insure it now
  40. I strongly recommend Beige interior + black roof line on Octavia, the car looks more expensive than it is. For example beige plastic on doors handles looks better than the black ones which looks so cheap.
  41. Hey glad you've got it sorted, i forgot to mention that the Crank Sensor fixing bolt is an odd one, 9mm multi point socket, difficult to tell what they are as quite often they are all corroded up. The sensors themselves often take a fair bit of effort to get out as they are a tight fit, especially after 15 years or so!!!
  42. Well... it has finally arrived. 5 and a half months after ordering and 4 and a half months after being built, we picked up our Karoq on Saturday. This time we treated ourselves to the electric seat option. I have to say that its an absolute winner. Especially the lumber support. I also like the ability to lower the front end of the seat squab. I prefer to sit high in the car, not like those who wear their trousers down around their knees and sit as low as possible, the only problem with this stance is that the front edge of the seat used to cause muscle pain at the back of my thigh on long journeys. Whilst fiddling with the radio / media player (we went for the Canton option) I found that there is a Dolby digital surround option! This will (probably) be the last new car we buy, as I dislike the option of electric vehicles. I think they are being miss sold, a bit like the push for diesels years ago. I am not convinced about the ethics of digging up the limited supplies of rare minerals, nor the whole battery production, useful life, recycling process. And of course the availability of sufficient electrical supplies to recharge said vehicles. Sadly we are no-where near being able to produce electricity using renewables in sufficient quantity. Looking at UK generation mix as I type this reveals that just 12% of our requirement is being produced by renewables (Wind 7%, Biomass 5%, Solar 0.1%). Gas accounts for 57% and we are BUYING 9% from France, Holland and Belgium....
  43. I don't think it's anywhere near 7.5% in terms of energy. E5 is typically 31.5 mj/litre, E10 is 30.9 mj/litre. Frankly, without specifically measuring for it, I doubt most people would have noticed a change in fuel economy if the swap to E10 hadn't been publicised.
  44. Thank you for replying AndyT60, That makes me feel more hopeful. Will contact the dealership again tomorrow.
  45. Hope you got the vRS. Coming from a BMW 5 Series to an Octavia vRS, I am nothing but pleased. The car has the ability to put a smile on my face every time I give it some stick. The kids love it, the wife hates it; so we're all winners.
