  1. Makes perfect sense, thanks!
  2. rare one, but i think justified... recent works completed on one of our bridges, a full rope accessed vegetation removal, major instream scour protection works carried out (in a special area of conservation... thank god i wasnt involved in that bit) and also a deep ckean and repointing of mortar joints. 150 ish yrs old, its looking brand new other than the handrails...

  7. Going for an "arty-farty" look. Ideally, I'd like the can to entirely in colour and the rest in B/W, but that will have to wait for another time when I can work out how to do it in Lightroom.
  8. "According to the computer"? Surely you mean the odometer, that is to say that you have driven 20-30 miles further on a tankfull? The predicted range on the dash display will not change whatever fuel you have just filled up with, the vehicle does not know what fuel the tank contains, you could fill with tap water and it would show the same range as had you filled with diesel or petrol.

No, the answer is it depends. According to the database after 22.11.2010 single mass flywheel was intended to built in (into manual, 5 speed, front wheel, w/o StastStop), but there might be deviations, so "before parts order, physical inspection of old part necessary".
  10. This is why I'm glad I kept my vcds while I didnt have a vag car lol
  11. EcoMax Petrol varies from month to month, about £14‐15. One shot is 50ml per full tank, so a bottle is 10 tanks.

I currently own a karoq 2019 and is fitted with 6Jx16 ET43 rims with tires 215/60 R16 95V as standard. I was wondering can I step up in size on the tire to fill out the arch on these rims as I am not too sure about it or even what the road handling will be like if I can change them at all. Any help would be appreciated.
  14. I was dead chuffed of this photo back when it was actually warm up this way...
  15. The £230 I paid doesn’t seem too bad considering what you’d fork out for a genuine BMW Alcantara wheel! I’ve read that with high use, alcantara can go flat, but can also be revived by cleaning with appropriate products and a stiff brush. But mine still absolutely fine after a year - only about 7,000 miles though.
  16. Autohold keeps the brake lights on. Handbrake (excuse those of us who will continually refer to the little parking brake switch as "handbrake") doesn't - 'cos handbrake over rides autohold. Dash lamp changes from Green to Red.
  17. Work in progress😄 Will fit 3 amplifiers and replace all speakers and a 15inch sub in the spare wheel area, all driven by a dsp connected to the HU.

My mum has just taken delivery of her new motability Nissan LEAF. I was tasked with driving it back from the dealership and all I can say is wow. I've never driven an EV and really liked the pickup of the motor and instant torque. The e-pedal is a great feature and I got used to it very quickly. For those that don't know, it means you don't have to use the brake pedal and the car can be driven just with the accelerator. When you start to come off the pedal, the car begins to break and once fully off the car applies the brakes to bring the car to a total stop. Obviously in the event of an emergency stop then you use the brake pedal but in day to day use I can see this being great. It made the car so much easier to drive! Not sure why other manufacturers aren't on this already!

  24. As I type this, the steering is fixed and it was neither the pump nor the steering angle sensor. In fact the problem stemmed from the reconditioned steering rack that would not hold the pressure from the pump, just letting the fluid circulate. Yesterday, the chap scanned every aspect of the steering pump or steering angle sensor and no fault was recorded and everything was performing and displaying on the scanner as normal. As mentioned yesterday, on full lock the fluid was just being returned to the pump indicating a seal had gone with reference to the piston. That was checked today and the same fault was displayed when the connections to the rack were undone. Another reconditioned rack was fitted and so no more fighting the steering wheel on the way home. The lesson here is don’t just believe everything an apparent VAG specialist tells you as if I had had the new genuine pump fitted as was recommended I would be nearly £1300 out of pocket and the fault would still be there. So if the steering goes faulty, get the system scanned to check the pump is working correctly. Everyone said a faulty pump would put a light on the dash so if the pump and the angle sensor is performing properly on the scanner it has to be the rack. I had no light on the dash at all. The company I had the rack from tried hard to sort a replacement rack out for me ASAP once they knew what they were dealing with so thank you to them for excellent service this morning. 25. Seems an awful lot of trouble and expense to rebuild in that edit: Way. My guess is a changeover car but I could not be sure.
  26. The whole conversation could soon be moot given we’re only 10p a litre away from the OP being priced off the road. Probably a couple of months 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hi Im a new member on here just wanted to share a few things. Ordered my VRS 2nd July 2021 and as of yesterday the factory still haven't accepted my order yet. My VW Tiguan lease runs out in November but thankfully as its a VW group car I ordered (the VRS) VW are letting me lease month by month for the Tiguan until my VRS arrives. I have been watching this forum for a while and I can tell you what's happening in the automotive industry. I am a transport manager that delivers finished seat sets to Nissan and JLR. JLR shut for most of September to build up parts and are due in next week however production is limited. Nissan will close next week and we are expecting more down days and this is all because of a lack of parts mainly semiconductors. Its expected to be like this until the first quarter of next year maybe even longer. Because I can see day to day what's happening I can be a little more patient waiting for delivery. All manufacturers are the same so if you cancel one order and go to another manufacturer chances are you will be in the same boat with an even longer wait. Reading these posts my problem is with the lease agents / dealers and manufacturers. If they were honest and just said we have no idea when your car will arrive (which is the truth) I'm sure people will accept that and wait. As things are unless your car is at the port and fully built there is no way they can honestly tell you when you will get your car

Don't know what effect it will have on road handling, but you will effectively increase the gear ratios. You will also change the accuracy of the speedo as, at the same road speed, you will get a speedo higher than the original. There may be issues with your insurance as well.
  31. It is rather common that people that want to push on with a DQ200 DSG get to know to start them rolling just a bit before flooring the accelerator. 1st gear really is low and will spin the tyres rather easily, and especially with some lock on. Then you have TC acting and nipping brakes or cutting power / drive. More powerful engines, FWD or AWD and Wet Clutch DSG's can be a different matter all together, and if comparing it is apples and pears you are comparing. 1.0 & 1.4 TSI's (ACT or not with 1.4TSI) both have DQ200 dsg's and the 1.4 TSI will be 150ps, but really the 1.5 TSI ACT is a whole different kettle of fish. Yes there is also a DQ200 with FWD ones. Similarity with all is with new tyres, all new tyres need some wear on them & not over inflated before trying to push on with them when wet, damp, cold. Even better is better tyres fitted than the ECO tyres they come with OEM in some cases, more about fuel economy than grip / traction. (There are 1.4 & 1.5 TSI Karoq which are AWD (Haldex) and do not have the DQ200 7 speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG.) Launch Control here & a heavier car with a 1.4 TSI 150ps & DSG. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/423600-carwows-surprising-0-62-test-results Wet Road, Launch Control, straightlining, but we have no idea what tyres are fitted as not mentioned here. Strange really he was there, drive the car, so knew how it performed and surely they had a v- box and not went by a speedo showing 62 mph.
  32. Buying a genuine device from an authorised dealer will ensure it’s not a fake. As has already been said, the residual values of the products are so good, the difference between new and (genuine) used is so small, buying new is worth it.
  33. Right, thanks. 👍 I understand what I was doing wrong. (Not sliding the opening/lid from side to side.)
  34. Thank you mate I'm giving it the TLC it's been long overdue! I'm certainly not somebody that rushes things and I spent a morning to strip it out and get the new one in, but I'm fortunate I have a large workshop to do it in so I needn't worry about poor weather etc so I can take my time. The front seats and the front section of the carpet will be coming out again soon as I have ordered the loom and relay needed to wire in the heated Recaros. With winter looming I thought this should be a priority! 😁

Don't go to the Lidl at Horley then! No store has parking spaces less than the reglementary sizes, the problem is peoples desire for bigger & bigger vehicles which is usually in inverse proportion to their ability to drive & park them.

It's odd how countries vary. I spend much of my time working in the far east and there seems to be some unwritten law that the occupants on a parked car have to open them with full force to hit the car next to them. Another one is to turn the car onto the roof every time a tyre blows out with bonus points for killing the occupants.

The most significant factor with respect to paint chips is paint thickness, the thinner the paint film the better. Any panel refinished will be far more likely to chip especially on front facing areas.
  44. Bought myself a 2017 (MY18) Superb Sportline 280PS - no additional options from the high NZ spec. Only things that the car is missing are sunroof, heated windscreen and steering wheel (heated steering wheel not available that model year in NZ).
  45. There is this device called a "handbrake"...
  46. 1 point
No, that is the HHC = Hill Hold Control. That holds the car just for a couple of sec, as you mentioned. The auto hold can hold the car for minutes or more e.g. at a traffic light or anything. I stop the car totally, the auto hold function engages, a lift the break pedal, but the car is still stopped while the dsg is in D. When I push the gas pedal a little, then the break releases, and car starts.
  47. 1 point
When you say Auto Hold do you mean Hill Hold. My 2016 dsg has this function. You just hold your foot on the brake for more than two seconds it engages and you can lift off for a short while. Tap the accelerator and it releases the brake.
