  1. Thought I'd dig this up! I finally got round to taking my car to arnold clark for an appraisal on Friday. The online offer was £23,239 and after looking at it for 10 minutes they offered me the full valuation plus an extra £9 because I over estimated the mileage. Quote from the manager of the dealership 'we will be here all night looking for something wrong with this, it's an absolute credit to you'. So to answer my own question from the start of this thread... yes, yes they are that strong!! Car will be going this week and I'm retreating to the land of 10 year old diesels that can be parked anywhere and carry lumber inside and outside!
  2. Your concern is noted. And your view on how much tyre is in contact with the road or how much bounce there is doesn't concern me or my tyre fitter who commented last week when he changed my winter tyres that they always wear evenly.
  3. The OP doesn’t even wash it. They ain’t doing that. Take it to a body shop. Ask them to fix it.
  4. Yesterday was ideal for me, overcast, cool and only a mild breeze along the coast. I managed to maintain my improved stance for the whole run and finished 15 seconds inside my current target time and it did feel good. Found a four year old photo my wife took of me at the Romford parkrun while on holiday in the UK and my 'now old' forward leaning style looks awful. I obviously have years of bad conditioning and habits to overcome. By lifting my eyes from the ground while running I'm now seeing dolphins frolicking out at sea and a seal lazing under the jetty which is a real enjoyment bonus, the downside is the increased risk of treading in dog's poo but so far so good

    And so it begins.........
  6. Link should work now. Copying link on phone didn't work as I expected. https://golfmkv.com/forums/index.php?threads/how-to-disable-15-seconds-alarm-delay.146764/post-3164088

Said I'd never do it again after my black hatch but these were to good an offer to pass up 3rd one now
  8. It's a push bike for heavens sake, not a F1 car 🤣🤣🤣 and shouldn't be raced on the public highway

Looking good. It's a slippery slope you're on now. One mod leads to another & before you know it your bank account is empty & the Mrs is wondering where the new kitchen fund has gone. 😁
  10. I would fall off my chair in surprise if any such customer/environmentally friendly planning has happened.
  11. My Superb and my mom's Kamiq, little family photo
  12. I find pretty much the same with Primacy 3's on my Yeti, I live near the peak district and drive through it most weeks. Badly surfaced roads with wet/cold conditions mostly, mud, leaves etc. The Michelin's feel too hard, noisy, skippy, easy to break traction and downright dangerous once the temps drop below 7 degrees and we are getting to that now. So even though they are only half worn they've been removed and a set of Crossclimate 2's fitted. Feel's much better now.

Bit of a long shot on this one. Has any one got the car reg: KY19 VMX ? Its my old car. Ive got the service history to it if the new owners want it.
  15. The factory doesn't run on blocks of colour, that's nonsense. First car could be Red the next Black.
  16. As above. At this stage in the models life they are too young to really be considering such mods. Maybe when they are 10+ years old and in a position to replace the main battery anyway. It's definitely something I'll be looking into down the line. By then there should be battery upgrade packs. Maybe removing the ice and swapping in some cells is an idea. Issues would be slow charging for a bigger pack and weight distribution. Also minimal range for a potential large mod cost. At that time you be looking at 200+mile range for cheap EVs.
  17. I have the Light and View pack on my UK car. I didn’t want it, and wouldn’t have specified it, but it was on a car that was already built and I could get within a couple of weeks. I have to say they are the best headlights on any vehicle I’ve ever driven. The rear lights also light up more than the standard rear lights. The auto main beam system works well, you need to read the manual about the limitations of its use. The only thing that it struggles with is when it picks out the rear of a parked car with no lights on, facing the same way as your car, but on the opposite side of a very dark road (eg no streetlights). It will light up the reflectors of that parked car so brightly that it then thinks they are red lights and blacks out the beam around that car, which stops the reflection and so the Enyaq restores that part of the full beam and lights the reflectors up again. You get a situation where it flashes that part of the high beam on and off until you pass that parked car. For all I know it could be supposed to do this ? I haven’t driven an Enyaq with the standard led headlights, they could be just as good as the matrix ones just without the auto-dimming system.
  18. Tyres in my opinion are very subjective, my beef with these Goodyear's are on Scottish rough road surfaces (by design for rain & winter ice/snow) incredibly noisy and harsh riding at any pressure, the 2.4bar I stated is about bearable for me, plus although I have had the 4-wheel alignment checked several times I dont like the lack of grip in the wet ... I find them fairly dreadful compared to any Uniroyal or Nokian I have had in the past albeit on other cars. To balance that I did find them much quieter on German, Austrian and even Italian motorways ... so its maybe horses for courses, but in the wet, wet West Coast of Scotland where summer is 27mins on a random day at the end of June they get a big thumbs down from me. As I said my opinion
  19. No, I didn't tell them what pressures to put in. I've checked them once home and they were all set at 36 psi. Following your advice and others comments on here, I've set all at 34 psi, reset the TPMS and I'll see over the next few weeks what that is like.
  20. Champiro appear to be a budget Chinese brand. The reviews in the UK aren't too bad, but from my point of view tyres and brakes are the last thing I would economise on.
  21. @freelunch the last time I took my car for service at Marshalls Harlow, got pretty much the same video walkround and they fixed the trim issue. Car was under warranty then. But trim issue has came back again weirdly. Was the second time I used them but one thing has made me switch to a VAG specialist (barely any cheaper to be honest) and that is I saw on the service notes, there was a measurement of tyre thread, of my spare tyre. 5mm. Yea right, I don't even have a space saver. And it's hand written, not like someone just entered it copy pasta on a PC. Can't trust them like that..
  22. Yeah sorry. I keep forgetting to get photos. Not convinced the ride height changes with special actives. B6 on stock springs does raise it slightly. At least it did on my Octavia. B6 ride is a fair bit firmer than the konis so lowering springs make it quite hard. Manageable and fun, but hard. Yes the rubber pads are from the TT.
  23. Yes there are workshop manuals on Briskoda and you can for a small fee go onto Skoda Erwin and put in your VIN and download the information from there.
  24. I hear Auto glass has a big bag of them. 🤣
  25. @cestrian Did you tell the tyre pressure to set them at or did you do it and reset the TPMS? The issue with the Primacy 4 is that they are used on lots of EV's or Hybrids because they are an ECO tyre as in they help the range of the car. This is from the rather poor traction / grip / friction. Not that good in the wet or cold, so best not run the tyre pressure to the ECO pressure.
  26. been a few days! ive been running, same route, and same general time frames. still tryin to work on the heel stoke avoidance and some stuff from that aussie running article. today was a cycle day as its the weekend. up the big hill and w3st to the woods. was a decent time and enjoying it, until i was on the top loop of the woods and i met a man with his dog, all in camo gear, carrying a rifle... who informed ne there was himself and afew other lads out deer hunting.. as i didnt fancy having a high velocity .308 entry and exit hole in my brain box, i turned back to the main trail and baled out. annoying though as he said they had all the season signage up at the entrances.... nothing on the east approach i go in, and i didnt see anything out on the main routes in either... the spanners.
  27. Digifish produced this great video.

Just to update, I am getting my car next week, it seems the february/march orders are getting done. But the state of the dealer being informed by the production plant is totally random because in my case yesterday morning was still in production, but in the afternoon it was en route to dealer. Cheers
  29. Is there any truth in the rumour that all orders for Brilliant Silver will be shipped in Bubble-gum Pink 🤣 🤣

You need to change the brake pads before there's metal to metal contact. However, don't wait that long as metal to metal contact will ruin the brake discs.
  31. Hi Folks, my summer trip is over. We did 4500 miles from East of the UK to Newcastle, (ferry), Amsterdam, Berlin, Warsaw, Gdansk, Warsaw, Gdansk (you can see the pattern), Warsaw, Amsterdam, (ferry), Newcastle, home. We got almost fully specced IV60, three people on board and a hell of luggage (because we haven't seen our families for almost two years). Long story short: I would buy this car again. Long story longer: I would also modify the spec. So from the start. I love how this car looks, in-and outside. Let me say that Newcastle border officers were so amazed that THIS is Skoda that they completely ignored the fact that we were carrying WMD (7yo with an urge to resume his Rammstein playlist). At every single charging point (If we were not alone), someone was there with questions. It looks crazy good. Now, interior. We selected Lodge to have a bright eco-friendly (as much as possible) interior. I love how the fabric knee rest stays soft and cool on extremely hot days (yes, sometimes I am driving in shorts). I used to hate front cupholders, I am still unhappy, but thanks to a really spacious driver zone, I can live with door pocket bottle holders. The rear bench... well, I can just tell you that thanks to EV architecture and no middle tunnel it's marvellous. I can sit behind myself without any problems and I can switch Isofix mounting while being inside instead of running around the car. top three packages that you 'must have'. 1) driver assistance - OMG. I love it. really, got the Plus version, this greatly reduces your fatigue on the motorways. All you have to do is to control the environment and squeeze the wheel every 45-60 seconds. Other than that it's almost an autopilot (on motorways). Two negatives: sometimes the system reads speed limits from the past (roadworks?) or from the road above/below. Trust me you don't want to feel an emergency stop to 60 km/h while you were going 164km/h. The second, system is VERY lane centric, so if some safe-distance-sceptic driver wants to cut in front of you, your car will start to slow down only when his beemer hit the middle of the lane. too late. Same case with bikers. The system tends to completely ignore them if they are overtaking you by going next to the edge. 2) light and view - IF you plan to travel at night this is 'night and day' (sorry, I had to). The lights are amazing. One weak spot. IF your motorway got mid-size lane separators, you will blind truck drivers, as the system will not see their main lamps, so will not cut the light. Sorry folks! 3) HUD. shows everything you need in a better way than the main cluster. Sadly AR nav works only with terrible onboard navigation. Now, what I would change. I could any day forget about the sleeping package and trunk controlled towing hook to get a motorised tailgate. I hate this hatch. I have to close it twice to make sure it's closed only to discover it's still open when I start the car. In the past, I was the person who said 'ignore the battery size, charging speed is more important'... and no, or.. yes and no. Because I had to go across Germany (twice) and Poland (four times), I was forced to use motorways, and with a 60kW battery, it was like 1:10h of driving 45minutes of charging, rinse and repeat. The 60 is a perfect size for everyday use, but as soon as you plan some truly serious distances, you should consider a bigger battery, especially if in your country you don't have a lot of really fast chargers. Meeting Tesla owners in a queue for a single 50kW charger is not a pleasant experience. Because I don't plan to repeat this trip next year I am fine with my 60. But I was really surprised how hard is to find a fast charger when you need one. What I miss: * rear bench domestic plug (for the UK spec). Seriously, we paid the same price, continental Europe got the plug, we got a cover. On the longer trips, you really want to plug in your laptop while you are charging your car for the sixth time. * A/Ced compartment. this is an EV. having a small cooled compartment in the glovebox or in the armrest is something that sounds like a natural idea, you don't have to care about power! but no. * 40/20/40 split and adjustable rear bench. Like I showed in my previous posts you lose a lot of space because of rear seats angle. If you could make them more upright the trunk would be so much more useful What I don't like, also known as 'the first world problems list': * laura. * central cluster, lucky for me I got HUD, but listen. On your central cluster you can't find information about the current status of the battery (in percentage), you can't check your energy usage (in m/kW or kW/100km), but you can see that you have a charging port on the right!! and that you can have D or B mode. No seriously. You have a constant reminder that the charging port is on the right. Like you forgot about that since last charging, it was yesterday after all. * right thumb fidget spinner. If you buy a driver assistance package the controller under the most powerful finger of your body is obsolete, to compensate that Skoda decided to hide ACC distance controller at the top of an additional controller on the left side, constantly hidden behind the steering wheel. Why? Because **** logic (or because we decided to reuse some parts from older models). * shutting down the car instantly after raising your butt from the seat. As a UK driver on my continental Europe trip I had to leave my seat to pick up motorway toll ticket, parking entry ticket, buzz myself in, pickup my sweet chilli twister, venti latte macchiato with double caramel, triple espresso and pumpkin spice at least four times a day. and after every single raising my bum off the seat I had to wait two minutes to reconnect my android auto, resume navigation, restore ev notify. because the car wanted to save 0.0000000001kWh of energy. * laura. * single wireless charging mat without any ventilation - self-explanatory. after 10 hours I decided to switch to cable. I could not afford to get my phone exploded. * touch-sensitive control for the roof. the worst solution ever. if only some assistant could open and close the roof for you, or wait... * laura - the most useless part of the car * rear window wiper - you waste 80% of liquid because the jet is so much on the left * front window jets - fine in the UK, but above 120km/h they hardly hit the middle of the window * shortcut buttons - they work as a separate layer, which means that if you press clima button, and then you want to switch to android auto with the favourite bar, you have to close the clima menu by clicking the button again even if the shortcut is still visible. * user experience of infotainment - best example, climate control. you got three controls for each seat, blue minus, a numeric representation of temperature, red plus. Now my expectation, if I press blue minus, the temperature is reduced by half of the degree, if I press the number I got a numeric selection, the red plus increase the temp by a half degree. Easy, right? NO! pressing anything turns the screen to almost black, then you can select temperature from numeric selection (while plus/minus automatically change temp by half deg). You were watching navigation while your wife decided that's too cold inside? bad luck. Another example? When you turn your parking assist on, sometimes (quite randomly) you got a settings menu that covers the top of the screen, just where your fronts sensors and camera are. So you can't see how close you are to a concrete wall, but you can launch the menu to change the brightness of the screen. Seriously? The same thing with the air purifying, when you start the option you see the HUGE logotype in the middle, you touch it and nothing happened... because the button is in the top left corner. just close to the continental driver, and the most hidden place for the UK driver, because who would check the spec of the car, right?. Another one? If you turn the climate off, in the top right corner you see the vent with the slider, which suggest that you could just touch it and turn the climate on, right? No, you have to find the climate button behind your cups, press, turn it on, press again to turn the menu off, why... oh why... (also, I am available if you are looking for user experience quality tester) * laura even if the negatives' list looks extensive, this is nitpicking (with a small exception for laura, she is really useless). I still consider this car as the best in the segment in June 2021 (still have to check Ioniq 5 and EV6). I truly miss P2 acceleration, but then I remember the single cupholder and I am happy with my choice. See you on the road!
  32. Oil changed at 101k miles and a bit of driver's side sill cut out and replaced due to rust. I'm trying to keep this nice and make it last. Kirkynut
  33. I also find the 2.5bar eco pressures far too hard for me, coupled with the less than ideal Goodyear efficient grip tyres which I believe are the bigger culprit. However I run at 2.4bar and find things are much more to my liking in noise, harshness and grip .. I know its not much of a change but it makes me content. The Goodyear's are not long for this life so maybe I will like the eco setting on what I believe to be a better tyre of my choosing.
  34. Driving in B roads. This feels like quite an upgrade vs MK3.5. The cornering, the placement in the road and especially the electronically controlled diff that enables you to go out of the corner faster and lowers understeer by quite some margin... Cool
  35. Only had it a few weeks and i keep get random comments on the colour 🙂
  36. And here's my final setup. 1000w JBL in custom enclosed box with the right amp. Kept the canton sub connected also, why not. No other changes to the oem speakers. Not a huge change in "size" of the bass but the punch is way stronger and it just fills in better.
  37. If the pads/discs are worn more on the inside that could indicate a sticking caliper, although because Skoda cars tend to use one piston sliding calipers they might wear more quickly on the inside anyway.
  38. An underhand upselling technique?
  39. Brilliant! Thank you so much for that.
  40. Added a layer of Carpro Gliss before winter sets in.
  41. The MOT test calls for a minimum of 0.5 G for service braking. That's a pretty low bar by modern standards, and I'm not sure it has ever been updated in the decades since the MOT was introduced. I accept that any tester worth their salt will advise you if it passes the minimum but they know it should do better. The problem is, it could pass that test a only a week before the brake pads are down to the backing, and the tester isn't allowed to dismantle anything to look at the state of them. I have seen brake discs on a newly passed car that had big bands of rust pitting on them. It's one of those areas of maintenance where you might want to apply higher standards.
  42. Door lock on its last legs probably especially its original, they will all fail eventually with cracked solder joints, if you haven't addressed the the water ingress points with corrective action you will get water in the car eventually and subsequent electrical issues related to same, these cars all leak not a matter of if but when, have a good read of the thread stickied at the top. Door locks can be got on ebay but some are of dubious quality pays your money and take your choice in that regard.
  43. We are all ears if you want to provide a better explanation Boyo!
  44. As you speak about scratches, from the day i bought it, first photo day 5, and the 2nd photo day 12.
