  1. If you really can not trust a place and think they will defraud you of money then best not use them.
  2. On my Octavia if you press and hold the unlock button the windows will go down and they will close if you press and hold the lock button. There have been cases of people accidently pressing the unlock button on the keyfob whilst it has been in their pocket and they have sat or bent down. Could that be the case for your wife? I do not know the range of the signals from the keyfob.

A still wet Tea Bag (having made tea) put on the bird poo does a good job of softening it before using warm water to flush off the poo before doing a clean up.
  4. I tried I tried it and it caused a massive pressure loss in the engine and turbocharging pressure and caused loss of engine timing 😆 I know why you suggested me, I'm the only one stupid enough to open the filler cap with the engine running, and do you know what, you are right!!!!!! back in a minute!
  5. You have to remember there's 2 types of charging, and due to their vastly different use-cases, overstay are different: - Destination charging: they are like car parks, it would be nice for people to move their car, but there shouldn't be an expectation. This is sometimes free, but at train stations, for example, it is unrealistic to expect people to move. - En-route rapid charging: they are like petrol station pumps, but only needed when driving en-route beyond regular home range of your EV. They MUST NOT be blocked and people are expected to move their car as soon as they have enough juice (not charge all the way to full, depend on their car). In these instances, people are expected to stay nearby and sometimes expensive overstay fee apply. It is unfortunate many single rapid charger are installed at random locations, making them pointless. I try to plan my en-route charging around rapid charging hubs, where queues, blockage or broken charger are not much of an issue.
  6. There is some enforcement to prevent charger hogging. Some charge point operators charge 'overstay' fees to prevent cars blocking the charger, which is usually implemented by a connection time limit or a time limit after your car stops charging. There is also the parking time limit way of preventing charger hogging by letting firms such as 'Parking Eye' enforce a time limit - this method is common at supermarket chargers. Overstay fees / time limits are not ubiquitous by any means, which means charger hogging is still a problem. It also leads to legitimately charging vehicles being issued a PCN if the driver does not check the T's&C's, so in general is a bit of a mess. Being aware of what the state of play is helps EV drivers, but a universal protocol needs to be adopted to help prevent confusion amongst drivers. IMHO Rapid chargers should implement overstay fees when charging completes like the Tesla model (including limiting charge to 80% at busy sites) and 'fast' chargers limited by time via parking restrictions.
  7. Judging by the number of new Kodiaqs that have suddenly appeared around these parts lately, something has evidently happened...
  8. After slipping build date a couple of times my February order is now built and on the way. So there is some movement it seems.
  9. I think there's enough VAG vehicles about with Gen3B engines for tuning solutions to be pretty sorted now, however I haven't seen a thread on what's available out there, and any real-world experiences with Gen3B remaps (and boxes, but to be honest, I'm not a huge fan of tuning boxes.) So I thought I'd start a thread with the goal of highlighting options for Gen3B engines, and hopefully collating any experience Gen3B owners have had with tuning their Budack engine. To kick off, here are a few companies that offer tuning products for the Geb3B. Obviously more tuners exist, but not all have products to tune the Gen3B. (For example, Celtic tuning don't offer a Gen3B solution on their website, but it's worth noting that some of these websites are not updated as often as they should be. ) Some of the links need you to enter car info and don't give a direct link to the relevant information, blame their poor website design, not me. 😋 Where a direct link can be given, I think I've given it. It's by no means comprehensive, but it's a start. Feel free to add any other companies you come across with Gen3B products and please add any experience or links to experience with Gen3B tuning. I know you can't go too mad tuning the Gen3B, but it's a decent engine and in the Skoda Octavia it creates a fairly nippy but attention-dodging Octavia. https://www.onlyrevo.com/product-details/software/skoda/octavia-mk3-2013-2020/421/stage-1 https://www.racingline.com/ea888-gen3b-software https://www.getunitronic.com/ecu-tuning/volkwagen-tiguan-20l-tsi-2019-stage1 https://sportignition.com/product/group-8-jb4-tuner-gen3b/ https://www.quantumtuning.co.uk/ https://top-tuning.co.uk https://www.turnerperformance.co.uk/car-registration-lookup/?RegistrationNumber=lb69pdv https://www.chiptuners.co.uk/vrm/ https://www.superchips.co.uk/ECU-Remap/Skoda/Octavia-A7-2013/Petrol/Laurin-2-0-TSI-187-bhp/lb69pdv https://www.angeltuning.co.uk/ https://jrtuning.co.uk/remap-tuning-files/viewdetails.php?make=Skoda&model=Octavia&modelyear=2017 - 2019&engine=2.0+TSI+190hp Also, please check @skodamota's thread here, which I forgot to include in my list of suppliers, as TVS didn't show up in my UK-based search when I was researching potential remap suppliers.)
  10. Any car forum with Skoda enthusiasts might be a good place. The For Sale section of Briskoda being a good choice. A small fee to advertise and people might easily be able ask questions about what you have etc if looking for your type of car.
  11. Mmwhoarh yes .. finally it's being built!
  12. https://elektrotanya.com/technics_rs-tr474_sm.pdf/download.html Go on... You know you want to do it yourself!!
  13. You can just fit the cap to the cam cover, it's how earlier cars with HT leads were.
  14. If I was at all religious I would say lane assist is proof that satan exists 😁
  15. They all come with DAB and sat nav. Depending on year (post 2015 I think) they come with CarPlay/Android Auto as well. Heated seats were either a stand alone option or part of the winter pack. What to look out for. I guess servicing is the main thing. Nobody seems to have a clue what’s meant to be done and when (based on the threads I’ve seen on here). I’d personally be trying to find one on fixed time and distance servicing. Others may differ. Other than that, I don’t seem to recall much else being an issue. But wait for further replies and advice. I’ll 100% have missed something.
  16. It's a bayonet type fitting, like a light bulb isn't it? Push in and twist through a small angle to lock in?
  17. That occurred to me too, as the Gen 3B still has port injection as well as direct injection.
  18. Has the spring steel bit on that side not snapped off and dropped down into the top of the cam chest? Maybe compare that broken end with the filler cap itself. Can you not just fit the filler cap onto where that cranked adaptor was fitted to to close off the cam chest? Edit:- oh, I was wrong, that other spring steel tang is still fitted to the cranked adaptor and is just bent/broken.
  19. It’s like backing an outsider at a horse race (no offence intended; quite the opposite) and willing them to win/get your car
  20. Not me 😣 Well that went to plan didn't it?
  21. In the world of customer service, there's the concept of getting the basics right first, before doing anything else. Order tracking is a basic thing they need to sort out. My June 21 order has never received a single update, I've got no idea if it'll arrive this year or not.
  22. Yeah it’s true, and that’s exactly what needs to happen. I’d be worried they won’t build it though. Not because of the money but because of the spec changes since they just say they can’t produce a car close enough to order…given it was pre facelift… The big problem with all this is Skoda and vw systems. You should be able to track your order. You should have a human being you can contact to discuss the order who isn’t a dealer - dealers don’t work for Skoda. They aren’t in any way able to do anything other than tell you the status they have on their system. So they need a proper system in place. With tracking numbers online checks and someone who will pick it up and sort it one way or another for you after a period of time. Speaking to dealers in the group they all saying the same thing. They are taking the blame for a situation they cannot manage. Once they place an order they can’t so anything about it. They can’t chase it. They can’t ask for an update. They can’t do anything. They are limited to recycling cancelled order build slots. Even then they are unable to change things without risking losing the build slot entirely. It’s a bad system. You might get away with it at Dacia prices. But let’s face it Skoda. /Seat/VW and Audi prices are more than high enough to expect a basic tracking system and some human interaction.
  23. I knew the situation was dire but to be gazumped by a genuinely identical order is ridiculous.
  24. https://youtu.be/Q0sh7dSQfhA
  25. Go figure, I ordered an identical car in Feb 2021. That means It's complete incompetence or intentional delays to avoid losses on orders placed before the price hikes. Either way it doesn't look good on Skoda.
  26. In manual cars it only cuts out when you are stopped, in neutral and with the clutch up. I don't see how on a manual car it could cause that. On an auto I guess it could be more annoying.
  27. See page 223 of this workshop manual. Lots of other manuals are available on here, have a browse.
  28. I hope this is off-topic, but I'm curious: Is there any enforcement employed to ensure "charger hogging" isn't a thing? I'm thinking of people leaving their EVs parked and connected to free chargers for hours while they're off out for the day. I suppose they'll eventually start printing off tickets that give EVs the use of a charging spot for <charge time> minutes, and then start issuing tickets like they do with car parks. Being able to fairly quickly find a working and available charger is important to me. (I hate to queue: I go to fill up my petrol car in quiet times, usually first thing or evening.)
  29. Thanks all for the input. Most, if not all of these recent comments, go way over my head. Should I just go with RTMG? I sent them a message yesterday and am looking forward to their reply.
  30. The light in the second and fourth shot is great.
  31. I wonder what happened to this car? Hopefully still with the same owners
  32. Ive been giving you OEM data and wiring diagrams from the start, why purchase more of what you have? Did you fix the other faults relating to throttle body codes or is this the same on going fault? and VCDS is the much better tool to scan it with than a generic scan tool, VCDS will give more detail than a generic P code.
  33. I can't really say it bothers me to be honest. The lane keep assist however......that always gets switched off.
  34. Great thanks, are you from this part of the world? Kapiti isn't often referred to as the Sunshine Coast these days, not for a lack of sunshine (we've had a fantastically sunny autumn), but not to confuse the Aussies with their newer sunshine coast.
  35. @ApertureS Great job, once again! Why don't you paste this in a new thread here too: Skoda Superb Guides - BRISKODA It may help a lot of Superb 3 owners...
  36. Thanks, fixed it by taking out the Airbox and cycling through the gears at the gbx end. Greased pivots a bit and cleaned the top of the gbx too. There was an accumulation of crap around the linkages.
  37. Thanks for the input. I'm glad it's not just me that thinks they're too small. I reckon they look more like the 16" wheels the original vRS estate came with, which look lost on a car like the Octavia. I've ordered some 12mm spacers so hopefully they'll arrive next week. I'll have a think about the replacement tyres as when the PS4s hook up they really do improve the handling of the car. As for your Ronals, I thought they looked pretty good to be honest. I was aware of the weight but from a styling point of view, I liked them. The Speedlines will be a good mix of styling versus weight and as you say, they will be similar to the OZ wheels.
  38. 2019 Skoda Octavia SE Tech fitted with front & rear ambient lighting along with genuine multicolour footwell lights (front & rear). The customer supplied new trim pieces with the ambient lighting installed. We plastic welded this into place and made up the necessary wiring We also updated the infotainment unit and enabled the sports display & Mapcare This vehicle has previously been to us for a new virtual cockpit
  39. Finally have the update done! Had to schedule a visit to my dealership, it took hours. But it's now updated to 1896.
  40. Why not bulk out the rear of the ticket with a folded old business card?
  41. First thing to note, Copart are an absolute horror story and I wouldnt of let them near my car until its decided. Just have a google of the state that some peoples cars are in even after returning from a insurance job. Tanks drained, parts missing, extra damage and all on cars that are just meant to be stored in limbo. Im not saying yours will be in that situation or condition but once its with them, id be looking at taking an offer rather than going anywhere near my car again. I would be asking for an independent assessment as copart are biased - its in their interest to write the car off and give you bottom dollar for it as they will auction/repair/strip it out for their benefit. Basically, dont trust copart as far as you can throw them and instead ask your insurer to assess it independently. EDIT: Some reviews for you - https://www.reviews.io/company-reviews/store/copart.co.uk
  42. the biggest problem with adblue systems, is the reliability not the cost of the adblue it's self, i know adblue has doubled in price but at around £2 per litre it is still relatively cheap As an example, most adblue systems have 2 nox sensors, on my caddy van one of the sensors failed at 15,000 miles but luckily just before the 3 year warranty was up, cost at vw for supply and fit of nox sensor £600 if you google adblue problems most manufacturers are having reliability issues and with the high costs to fix if out of warranty, it's no wonder that people take the cheaper option of deleting the lot 😃
  43. I don’t think anyone is judging at all. Just pointing out that for those of us waiting the problem with switching to another car is that right now if you actually want a kodiaq or something in that class there isn’t anything readily available. Not without spending a lot more or making compromises on what you get. That doesn’t mean you can’t go and get a Tucson or whatever. Great car. But if I only needed a mid size I’d go and get one or a sportage as they seem more available. The problem is it’s much harder in large suv land if that’s what you need.
  44. My car is build and waiting for a delivery 🙂
  45. If its a 1.4 it doesn't have an engine cover so the cross will mean not checked as not present
  46. In my experience, electronic gauges tend to be the most accurate. Gauges attached to foot or electric pumps should only be used as a guide as they are built to a cost.
  47. That price sounds extortionate to me. My advice would be to take advantage of the high price on your existing car and drop it in exchange for a deal on a new vehicle.
