  1. I did exactly that! I resoldered it back into fuse 10 and tied it in as neatly as I could. No faults anymore. Thanks for your amazing help on this one!
  2. Started a thread about showing my car a bit of love. Bought it at 68k 4 years ago now on 99k. Wife has used it for a commuter and then myself so bit run down just needing a bit of tlc. When it needed new front brakes I fitted some 312’s with VW OE discs and pads. Serviced the car last week. This week fitted some braided lines and new calipers as the front left has been binding. and as little treat it’s had one of these just need to give it a good clean and then work on the prepping the spiders. not the best story teller but trying to keep a log of what I have done
  3. 4 years with my vrs 2016 tsi wagon and its still fantastic not a single issue yet so all good 👍probably just jinxed myself now tho 🤬
  4. Another bit of slow progress in the fast approaching 17 year old Ford
  5. I'm still thinking the motor really, and it's not really a painful job. @Breezy_Pete is the man you should speak to about all that stuff. Got me out of a right pickle with my dead electric windows.
  6. Similar boat here: 24k coming up in 15 miles time. Early start tomorrow to run Mrs Gaz and our Daughter up to Heathrow. Got to try to not use adaptive cruise control on the A27 or I'll miss it. Feeling the pressure 😓 G
  7. This absolute dinger of a Golf.
  8. First consider the car has a GPF. That might be something or nothing to do with it. ? How many miles has the car done and have you had it from new? ? How do you use it as in how far does it go with cold start trips, in town or out of. If you are running using E10 95 ron petrol maybe try a tank or 3 of E5 97 or 99 ron. As long as the car is running OK and just condensation and then running rich and blowing out some soot give the car a bit of an Italian Tune up/ Spirited drive once the oil is heated up to operating temp. Maybe regularly. .......................... This might be useful in the future. But that could depend on how the car is used.
  9. People who are buying a keeper spec them as they want and might still own them so they are not going to Auction or back to Dealers or to traders. The likes that might get advertised for sale on here. Briskoda cars for sale. Bad ones can get flogged, as in sold, WBAC, Motorway, just, punted / flogged, maybe flogged to death as a lease cars. Rented and back and in the Motor Trade. FMDSH which means nothing as Main Dealers might not Service to Manufacturers Recommendations, Guidelines or Schedules, even cars on a SERVICE PLAN. Good ones traded in by members here might be advertised someplace and someone here can maybe vouch for that car.
  10. Can't you just run that wire along the existing loom, out through/near the grommet that takes the loom out of the scuttle into the bay near the ECU, and splice into the fuse wire after following the loom from there? May be hard to do super-neatly, but I'm not that fussy. 😁
  11. Ok, all faults now clear down after running live feed to pin 6 so it is a break in the engine bay somewhere! Just need to find somewhere neat to tie this in to now……
  12. I have a 2018 245 VRS. Been great so far. Love the car.
  13. Owned from near new my previous 2003 Superb mk I always had terrible headlights with H7 Dipped beam projector lens headlights so I tried various "brighter" bulbs including Osram Silverstar's. The bulbs never lasted that long with both sides failing within weeks of each other so I got into the habit of changing both if one had failed as it was a fairly fiddly procedure on that car. The headlights on it's replacement Superb II also with H7 Dipped beam projector lens headlights are considerably better so I never bothered with brighter bulbs. When the originals failed I was away from home on both occasions about to embark on long journeys so I popped into a local Halfords and asked them to change the relevant bulb and they suggested the long life H7 and to be fair they still perform well and have since lasted many years.
  14. Good morning 👍
  15. My MB & LB lights are both H7's (55w), as I bought the SE spec, purposely. I uprated my halogen bulbs to Lidl's 100 brighter bulbs, I bought a few twin packs of H7's when they had them on offer for a fiver a box, used them on different cars, too. Seem to last well & they're made in Germany. So may be worth keeping an eye out for when they're next on offer. I've never blown a set either, even when I'd replaced them on a different make of car & ran them for over year until I bought my Octavia. They seem equally as bright as a previous set of Osram 150's I also fitted a few years ago, but the Lidl bulbs were a quarter of the price. I wouldn't say they're white though, maybe a little whiter than stock bulbs & a bit brighter.

  18. What year is the car? Earlier cars had CAN bus to the window motors, later ones only talk to each other by LIN and have no central control. Part numbers of the LIN ones begin 6Y.
  19. Low miles for 1988. Just a bit of corrosion not weakened. On a SORN so as long as the Private Parking is not at a place open to the public no issues, so the land is private.
  20. Following your guidance and instructions I have successfully updated. It was seamless and completed during a 17 mile round trip with a stopover of 2hours. Very grateful for your clear guidance 👍👍
  21. With a working DPF for diesel's and GPF on petrol you shouldn't see black smoke. If it's broken/collapsed in some way, the soot of course can escape. Not saying that's what is wrong, but could be. You may need to look at fault codes/live data to check out things.
  22. Business Secretary Grant Shapps MP made an announcement that somehow passed me by. http://www.gov.uk/government/news/uks-first-large-scale-merchant-lithium-refinery-announced
  23. diesel battery recently replaced , service on time
  24. I'm confused by that, pin 3 seems to go to the right dipped beam headlight bulb, so shouldn't connect to batt positive? What range is that meter on, in the pic where you're on pin 6, and is the probe definitely getting in there properly, and where's t'other probe?
  25. I'll look up where that pin 3 supply is coming from in a sec, just need to finish making a cuppa.
  26. @Mattyboy91 Where are you hearing about them being a bit ropey. Is it on forums, in magazines or from some VW / Skoda Tech or a mechanic, or other sources? Those who know nothing about them. Plenty owners and past owners on here. The Car needs to have been Serviced properly, DSG & VAQ done when due etc. Raced or Rallied or booted occasionally not an issue really. It is only a Big Warn Hatch after all. Fabia 1.6 TDI Euro 6 Defeat Device Skoda emission cheaters are a whole other kettle of fish. VW Group disgrace. PS Buyers of newer Octavia and other Skoda's need be 'Buyer Beware' because VW Group took IT in house, and are penny pinching unbelievably. Then in total denial when there are issues with Build / Quality Control. Poor Dealership responses.
  27. @J.R. it is, 'Can't be arsed'. Which is a fair enough. Not many can be, but some try it. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/505957-looking-for-a-skoda-yeti/page/2
  28. I'd get another quote! Although I found my main dealer to be generally good (Hull) I moved to an independent when my car was 6 years old and started needing things like brakes replaced as the cost difference was significant.
  29. Let's look at your maths. 50 kph isn't even close to 35mph 50 kph =31.069 mph much closer to 30 than 35. CBA with the rest of it
  30. Less risky. Battery condition can be checked far easier than an engine in an ICE. Most EV drivers are nor stupid and are not charging to 100% with ones they own, maybe not Rapid charging either. Those like me with a car with a small battery and crap range might be. Those Business / Commercial drivers of lease cars, or Motability owned EV's might not be. 'I do not care', just as i never did with my last TDI on a lease from Motability'. Do not get landed with my EV when it goes to auction, but then it is probably staying with me beyond the 3 year lease unless the battery condition does become poor with my charging to 98%.

Got told today car has arrived with the dealer 🥳 and shows in the Skoda App garage waiting to be activated. So that means 4 weeks from production week to delivery in Ireland for anyone counting. Temptation is there to pick it up now for the Christmas road trips but will look forward to collection in the new year with a fresh "231" reg.
  32. Sensor switch is inside the boot lock. I am suffering the same issue. Need to remove the lock and replace the switch.
  33. Yeah thanks. The ones I have been fitting, philips white vision ultra, were standard output 55w - just halogen with gas to make them whiter. But yes, now ordered some long life standard yellow halogens from Osram advertised for 4 year life.. .So we will see. I'll try to resurrect this post when I find out how long they last!! Thanks
  34. Both good guesses. So I’m the process of making my MY17 superb sportline seats to the highest spec possible. so that means both front seats will be heated, ventilated, massage, electric and memory. As many will know, most of these things didn’t come on a 2017 superb, let alone on the sportline seats. fair bit of custom work is going into it, next hurdle to tackle is the ventilated mats and seat cushions. but the above is basically - to get the memory version of the passenger seat controls they want £190 for the controls new, or roughly £100 second hand. as I had a right side memory seat controls and a left hand non memory. I stripped the parts from the right module, desoldered everything and flipped the circuit board round, refitted everything in the left hand housing. Then found out the placement of the centre switch is not symmetrical so couldn’t be flipped round, hence having to drill holes straight through the circuit board and use link wires. Everything is secure and I will probably go back over the work with a nicer quality wire but for proof of concept it works as intended. And saves me £100-£190!
  35. Check out post #2 in this thread..
  36. I've had nowt. I guess the obvious questions are "What's in it for you?" and "What's in it for the dealer?". I suspect the answer to the first question is, an invoice somewhere down the line.
  37. On that is where people get in a mess 32gb - Fat32 64gb - NTFS But the document doesn't say that so people start moaning the maps are too big for 32gb card since they formatted it to NTFS. A few years ago some people got away with NTFS on 32gb cards but they should have had then in Fat32 then. Germans boards discovered that and started growsing. Their issue should have been using Fat32 on those 32gb cards in the first place. I get picky since the mib2 standard map card is also sensitive to being messed up by incorrectly formatting it. That is definitely fat32 and 4096. Weird things happen if it's in NTFS. Doesn't read all the attributes. Then users corrupt them and they stop working .
  38. Hi guys any updates about the issue? Got very same issue
  39. No 32gb card in fat32 is fine. People format the 32gb card in NTFS for the hell of it thinking its better. Nope. it doesnt fit on it then. They then buy a 64gb card but a 32gb in fat32 is just fine. Min spec class 10. The fly in the ointment is that Windows 10 / 11 on a reformat changes the cluster size to something stupid, you have to set it back. Don't reformat the card, just delete and should be fine. Not at home at the minute. I'll post up latter what it should be, 4096 from memory, if you do attempt to reformat it in fat32 if it's a 32gb card. I'm using a collection of 32gb Aldi Medion SD cards I inherited 😍. It's a Skoda thing of going off piste / take the high road 😉. The recommended VW way, the mothership PDF I posted up above. NTFS mentioned is for the PC not the card.
  40. I do have all main (annual services) carried out by Skoda Dealership. I undertake the OIl Change with correctly specified parts (eg oil, filter & o-ring kit) I will have the Inspection carried out ... even if it is not much more than check the fluids & kick the tyres. My car is covered under 'paid for' Skoda warranty ... the 3 yr having expired. Thanks for the comments, appreciated. It is interesting that when I had my first few cars they included in the handbook a great many items for the owners, such as how to set the tappets ...... perhaps there is dumming down of capability of owners.

Karoq Sportline 1.5 collected on the 29th oct.
  42. The Superb design has a natural nose down stance anyway, and with the Eibach Pro-Kit, this tends to accentuate it. If I remember rightly E10-79-012-04-22 front springs (F11-85-042-03-FA) are 5mm lower than the rear springs for some reason as well. Some people might like this dropped look at the front or may not even really notice it, but for me I would prefer just a little more clearance at the front and a more level stance to the vehicle in general. I think they got the height at the back just right, as even the Sportline on OE springs looks too high over the rear wheels.
  43. 69k now (bordering on now longer being low mileage!), taken by a very shaky co-pilot because apparently Colin McRae-ing it on the road to Peebles isn't appropriate...
  44. Here is my second Octavia VRS TSI, as I previously had a 2011 MK2 fl.
