  1. You can probably just stick a phone under there at arms length and take a 'selfie' of the drain plug, with it on the ground. Certainly if one side/ two wheels are up on a kerb.
  2. I have a plain white 280 estate. On two occasions now I have flashed someone to let them know they've had no lights on etc, and they have pulled over. I was probably wearing a white shirt too so made me look more 'police-y'.

Google RNS510 map update dvd, plenty available. V17 appears to be the latest update.
  4. So - you remind me the thread is about cars and then you go on to talk about any other type of vehicle...??? It's a shame you always try to distract - what's the word that keeps getting used - oh yes - "whataboutery"! Regardless of your post it doesn't change the fact that you called out others, accusing them of being unable to read or calculate and yet you could do neither yourself. Quite hypocritical, poor manners and unnecessary.

January came along and I had Christmas gift money burning a hole in my pocket so I placed a few orders. St spacers. 15mm around. Ecs tuning uprated front top mounts. Febi-bilstein bearings. And H&R lowering springs. all lined up for "the car im not modifying"

"Dad mods" Next up was some rather mundane but nice additions in the form of new interior mats with grey piping. And a full set of Oem mud flaps (listed as will not fit vRS- but they fit fine)

I tackled the engine bay and exterior in a single day, which just so happened to be the hottest day of the year at the time. Car was fully safe washed, fallout remover applied, tar and glue remover applied followed by clay bar. Out came the masking tape, and polishing could begin. From what I remember it was a good 8hrs+ on the exterior that day. With polishing done, it was time to get the wax down, shuffling the car around the drive to find shade and not bake the wax on 😬 Finished result was pretty good for "primer" grey.
  8. Very common here in NI for armoured Superbs - liveried and non-liveried. The very thick ballistic glass is easy to spot, especially head on, as it creates a “petrol-on-water” effect on the windscreen due to the layers of laminate. They also tend to sit very low due to the armour.

So here goes. . .never done a build thread for any of my cars, and although nothing spectacular. I thought I should do one for my Octy. Although I've had the car over 2 years now so most of this initially will be a retrospective build thread. Got the car on 2nd July 2021 from Simpsons skoda Colne. 23k on the clock, meteor grey dsg 245 Absolutely loved the colour and held out to get one this colour after debating with myself if I wanted an older pre-gpf model, I decided it shouldn't matter as the main reason for getting this was the arrival of my son looming . . . I needed a dad car, but couldn't have a boring slow one 😁. The joy didn't last long, on the drive home from Colne, 70ish miles for me the car threw up an EML on woodhead pass, called the dealer and they advised to get it pulled over somewhere safe and call skoda assist 🙄 Nothing was done at the roadside and I had to return the car to my local skoda dealer the day after. Car had and intake flap fault which turned out to be due to a vacuum line had come off, possibly in the pre sale servicing. Fastforward a few days and I had the car back again. . And could finally make it mine.
  10. It' maybe me mis-understanding this but I'm confused. You've posted the insurance & legal issues section. If your car has been written off then the insurer will pay out it's market value BEFORE the accident occured. I can't understand why they're taking the car away to give you a price when you say it's all ready been written off ? 🤪
  11. An outdated trope IMO. Same as the old tropes about Skoda being skips or having heated rear screens to keep your hands warm.

Dec 2022. Something that was always going to be happening with this car was. . .Mapping of course. So during the black Friday sales I bit the bullet and booked it in at Awesome Gti for a Racingline oem+ ecu and tcu map. I decided on going Oem+ long before booking it as these seemed to be the only company having GPF specific maps marketed, and knowing the head software guy is Ben from Shark performance. So Racinglines official figures for the gpf cars was 296bhp. With the intake and few other bits I'd done to the car I was praying it would break the 300bhp barrier. Car rolled 244bhp and 279 ft-lbs in "standard" form - so just bolting on an intake clearly makes no gains. After mapping, 310bhp and 354 ft-lbs, along with the gearbox mapping. . .well yeah it's pretty bloody quick. . Makes my previous mapped Mazda3 Mps feel not as quick as I thought it was. Awesome were great, I was late for my slot due to horrendous traffic and the car was still strapped to the rollers having the finishing touches done 30mins after they officially closed 👍 Literally 2 days after mapping it was time for a 300mile jolly upto Dundee for Christmas, sitting at speed limits where possible and with the car loaded up with 2 adults, a baby and all the gear for 4 days away plus Christmas presents the car returned 47mpg average over the journey. Who needs a diesel. 😬
  13. I've removed the link. It's not important, as it was just the latest version of the Kamiq owner's manual.
  14. Yet more cars with touch controls that are likely to be banned soon when governments work out that operating it is as bad as using a mobile phone.
  15. I probably can but it will be a week or so before I get a chance. Thanks
  16. Mechanic checked the alternator and said it was perfect. Not sure why the other place my dad went to said it was needing replaced. got the varta A7 (e39) agm battery today and installed it myself and did adaption with vcds. This is the voltage now I’m getting with and without started.
  17. Oh I think I can match that and possibly go one better. Similar chassis, Fiat I think, an x Ray van, car, thingy, I had to drive sometimes. Way over the 3500 kgs. No road tax. Crown exemption. Broke down a lot as could not really haul itself and Plymouth is hilly.
  18. Thank You all for your responses. Eventually we did get a car that had 56k miles (2015 1.4TSi) - and previous owner changed the belt at 32k - so we are safe now - as EnterName mentioned maybe take the approach - "if in doubt, change it" - luckily we don't need to. Anyway, thank you all. jakk
  19. It appears that a 6.0J x16 ET 35 wheel with a 195/60 16 tyre is the correct spare wheel size. Kit with correct size wheel, jack, wheel brace and polystyrene insert etc is around £240.
  20. This was a post / thread in the Kodaiq section last week. I know it is a Kodiaq and a vRS you might think they will be much cheaper for a Fabia. Well ask the Service Desk receptionist, likely they know just crazy prices much like this.
  21. They are all relevant even though light commercials. People have landed themselves with the MPV versions and some are hopeless for journeys. Then the commercials can be Crew Busses and will be converted to Campers etc. So there will be private / family or individuals as well as companies owning or driving them.
  22. The truth of Stallantis is that Autocar, Auto Express, Car Wow or who ever need to get these vehicles out and run a variety of them and see how far they actually go on the batteries they had or the slightly larger ones an with an ickle more powerful settings of the motors. Ask the question why the Citroen C4 does better than the sister models or brands. They are over priced IMO and the efficiency is crap. Sadly people are getting landed with them by employers getting great deals to just take and run them.
  23. Aaa the SMMT. Smoke and mirrors and statistics and fuddle not fiddle. They are never going to say that the Manufacturers are First Registering any and every EV that they can and getting them out there. Hire cars, cheap lease deals, to fleets etc etc. There are ones in demand and there are lots that are going to be very low use used cars. It is just what the manufacturers have always done to make models not look like flops or to have them in the Top 5 SOLD in a quarter, 6 months etc. Vauxhall, Ford, VW Group, especially SEAT, but VW & Skoda as well. Pre-reg.
  24. Newest part number revision for 1N7 which is Dynamic steering is 5Q2423056J and i can get that for £1990 Newest part number revision for 1N3 Speed related variable assist (servotronic) and 1N5 power steering mobility aid is 5Q2423055L and that is £1930 You now need to find out which of those 3 PR codes your car has, someone with fulltime access to erwin or you can pay yourself for a 1 hour slot for £8 to work it out. Either of these racks can be had second hand on ebay for less than £250 but they do need coding to the car and paramterising using ODIS
  25. Thank you, to be honest I'm not sure, I'm struggling to find out the spec of the wheel needed for a roomster and I'm not car savvy beyond the basics In the end I kept my fabia spare wheel in the garage and it's been taken for assessment and valuation without it, in another thread I asked if this would fit in my fabia and it seems it'll be okay are a temporary spare, but maybe it's not exactly the same. So I think I'm okay, I guess I'll see if it fits in the gap when my roomster arrives!
  26. In the manual, is there any mention of brakes activating to scrub it? I'm wondering BMW may have prior knowledge of EV brake problem from their older EV's and have implemented fixes.
  27. Seems like very good advice toot, and I must admit I have become a little lazy over the last few years and guilty of assuming people working on your car do the right thing. My job involves me checking that people do what's asked and generally they need a bit prompting or some sort of follow up. We are all human after all.
  28. Electric scooters only have two wheels an China's been pumping those out like no one's business. Are they included in the figures distorting them? Perhaps keep numbers to EV mortorcycles, cars, RVs, SUVs and anything HGV chassied such as buses, HGV's, etc?
  29. £20.59 + VAT, so £24.71 in your hand at Skoda dealers.

Isn't the older Columbus an RNS510 as used in many VAG models? If so there appears to be various sources of Map update CDs available, though I'm not sure what the most recent version is?
  31. On my car it is the near side passenger door which has the removable plastic cover.
  32. Inner drivers door handle snapped last week - now replaced and fixed. No don't have automatic door locking (that I know of) and don't consciously lock the doors when driving locally but do if/when in London.
  33. Unfortunately I think this thread may be dormant now as I’ve not had a reply or any luck getting a software update anywhere. if you find one, please let me know where you do. Thanks

Interior - The following weekend the interior had to get the same attention as the exterior. Car was fully vac'd out, every plastic surface thoroughly cleaned to get any old residues off and leather cleaned. The steering wheel was quite grubby All the fabric and carpets were given a good clean then sealed with carbon collective fabric sealant. Dash finished off with a nice matte dressing (coz who likes a shiny dash) and finally the glass was all given a good deep clean. If you haven't already guessed it, yes I'm quite keen on Detailing 🙃

Sooooo. . As with most people one of the first things I wanted to do was get it CLEAN. I've nothing against dealer prep, but it doesn't come close to what I consider clean. First up. . .Engine bay the engine bay was completely untouched by the dealer, I was told after some damage had been done in the past by cleaning the bays they now don't do them at all (someone clearly got clumsy with the jetwash) All the nooks and crannies were filled with sand, so either the previous owner lived by the coast or was a builder 😅 Anyway - onto the paint

You would think an organisation the size they are would have a more reliable system.
  40. Just getting my Zoe back from its B service, £120 cost. Just booked the Arkana for its B service, £249 cost. Damn the expensive to service and run ICE cars !
  41. The other point worth mentioning here might be that with things mechanical, you can often work things out how they go together and how they work and can keep out of danger because you can see the obvious danger, but with a high voltage battery you don't have that luxury and of course with it being DC, there is always the danger of becoming locked onto the danger, whereas as AC will normally throw you off and across the room, so the danger of electrocution is far higher with attempting to DIY with a EV and battery voltages rising all the time to get higher ranges. Early EV's were 400V, newer ones are 800V and I suspect that they go even higher yet. With mechanical things you see, hear or feel the danger, with electricity, you get none of these warnings apart from feel, and often by the time you feel it, it is already too late to save yourself.
  42. Hello, welcome to the forum. No, whip it out before they collect it. So many vehicles are supplied without them nowadays anyway. Unlikely that Copart would know if your vehicle originally came with a spare.
  43. Update - had oil service (i.e. 2nd year) yesterday and service desk phoned during the day to say that there are engine covers now available. 2-second whileuwait job but obvs has to be done by them. Its a pre-order item and have booked me in for...10th Oct. Stupid timeline for that sort of job but it is what it is.
  44. I'm having the same issue. both the bigger bits are broken, in my case probably because I appear to be missing one of the 3 screws holding it on to the door. If your car is LHD, you may find suitable items on ebay, if it's a UK RHD car, you're probably best off to the local skoda dealer. It's where I'll be trying my hand soon.
  45. I can confirm that this is a normal price in an AMAG (vag) garage in Switzerland! A standard service is around 350chf and a major service around 600chf... I've been quoted this twice for my Octavia when they try to convince me to get it done early. The quotes are all fully itemized & you will pay vag prices for every screw, bolt, o ring, gasket etc Those who can often take their cars to France or Germany for work because they usually offer fixed price services for cars over 3 years old like in the UK.
  46. Year of registration - 2015 Engine 2.0 TDI 150 Mileage when fault occurred - 85,000 miles Dealer name & response (i.e. "don't want to know"/"yep, they all do that"/other) - Listers Skoda Coventry, did the work as belt was due (7 years interval, instead of recommeded 5, but about the 130000km so was done just about time) and pump had to be done as leaking coolant Warranty or goodwill contribution? - Paid £600 for both belt and pump Any other info. (Full Skoda service history/independent?) - Full Skoda history, bought from them. My engine was not overheating, but I noticed that the coolant started leaking August 2022, put some coolant back in, drove for another maybe ~200km, coolant level went down, the dealer took it in for diagnostics, determined pump was leaking, fortunately not into the engine (oil was fine and everything, just losing coolant), went in for repairs along with other things due like engine oil, dsg oil and brake fluid, aircon etc (bill was just over £1k for all of that service). Car was fine, couple of trips to Poland and back to UK, passed MOT on Friday (04/08/23) and on Sunday it came up again with coolant level low warning, topped up coolant, but went in today and booked in diagnostics to determine if it's the same thing. As mentioned in the thread previously, I noticed an alarming frequency of DPF regens happening recently, could have something to do with overheating the pump assembly. Dealer said parts are still under a 2 year warranty from last change a year ago, so if it's the same problem, I might get away with having it changed for free. I'll let you know, the diagnostics is booked in for end of August.
  47. Pretty sure motor runs one way only, or stuff within it does any required supply switching.
  48. @Andrei1496 i have sent PM to You with scan from my 2016.02 Style with factory fitted ambient light maybe some bits will be handy
  49. Hi Lambda Sensor fits SKODA FABIA NJ5 1.2 Post Cat 2014 on Oxygen Bosch 04E906262BJ is the one I used and works fine - no warning light and no fault codes, search eBay for genuine Bosch 04E906262BJ there's plenty on there. Lambda Oxygen Sensor Socket 22mm x 100mm 1/2" Drive Cr-v Steel - this is the removal tool I used (eBay item number:252517659149) but again stacks available. Hope this helps Simon
