  1. And please find some images below that show what to expect once the air vents are out:
  2. The old Skoda outside in her natural habitat just beading away YOU REALLY HAVE TO LOVE THE ENGLISH SUMMER
  3. Hello all, I finally figured out what the problem for me was. Apparently, the connector between the water pump and the ECU harness was not plugged in properly. It did look as if it was, however the connector was not properly "clipped in" which caused the open circuit error message. I can only assume that this has been like that since the water pump was changed (almost 50000 miles ago). Hope this helps other too.

I agree with mccririck. Factory fitted goodyears were the most noisy tires I ever got, despite having lower dB value than others. Basically tire noise and tire performance are always about combination of particular tires with particular car. Even the same tire models but in just a different size perform and sound differently on the same car model.
  5. Hi, Yes things have moved on a lot since the days of taking a car apart with an handful of spanners and a hammer; I think we're giving our age away Expatman. Re-bores; crank grinding & head skimming etc; now the engine gets replaced? No more track rod ends; trunnions or prop-shaft to grease; is there a grease nipple on modern cars? Bodywork is now far superior; modern cars simply don't rust as much as they used to. After DMK wanted to replace the perfectly good front discs & brake pads at a cost of £352 last year during the annual service I've found a brilliant local independent to service the Yeti this year. Because my wife is so unwell attending many hospitals I'm unable to leave her home alone for long so the garage did the MOT whilst I waited and would do the service to suit us. I visited the garage yesterday and booked the service for the 16th at 8:00am; I asked if they could collect/deliver or if I could collect a service guy then he could take the Yeti back with him at my cost; this garage is wonderful; to save lots of running around or using public transport I'm taking the Yeti in and waiting; three service guys are going to do the work; it doesn't get better than this. I'll wander on to Screwfix whilst the Yeti is being serviced and pay their mortgage. 👍 Kind regards, Colin.
  6. I have a 2.0 Sportline 4x4 with Cross Climate 2 tyres. Superb ride. Elderly mother finds it very easy to get in and out off and loves how quiet the ride is.
  7. I agree, but the OP was concerned about electric charging in Europe and the low mileage on just electric means that it is not appropriate to try to charge it and then run any distance on electric.
  8. Crankshaft sensor is likely to be a lot lower on the engine. Crankshaft is near the sump.
  9. We charge our PHEV from an external 13A socket. Going to the Alps would be on petrol, the electric range is 33 miles.
  10. As above, put a wet cloth on top to soften it to save before rinsing. Paint is quite resiliant to bird poo but if you let it bake in the sun the paint softens underneath it which forms to the texture of said turd which is why it can sometimes leave a mark. That't what I read somewhere anyway 😁
  11. Thanks for the helpful content it looks bad for me, not for the complication but for the removal of all these panels and plastics. I am always against the removal of plastics because it will always look bad afterwards. i will keep this dashcam on the ugliest cable visual presentation and cry always when i enter the car shame on skoda that didnt install it by default thank you for the great content and thank you for illuminating me on this topic
  12. I generally leave a microfibre wrapped sponge full of warm water over the offending poo for a good while, to allow stuff to soften and some to float away. If it's on a level-ish area (e.g. bonnet or roof) I use an old silicone ring (from an old tupperware type lid) around it to help keep it as wet as possible while soaking. I've found a hand held garden sprayer useful for a localised jet of water on the area. I keep any 'wiping' to a bare minimum as the poo sediment will have grit in it.
  13. Well, there's this chemical called "DiHydrogen Oxide"...
  14. After 15 000 km, had the warning activate twice (no automatic braking): once rightly so, once without a reason. Fabia Mk IV.
  15. Try to get one that had as option added Travel assist and Traffic sign assist. TSR almost impossible to retrofit, if you wanted to, Travel assist can be done. I have a panoramic sunroof on a 2023 Superb and had one on my 2014 SII. No leaks or exploding sunroofs ever. Not sure what the Sportline has as standard
  16. First thing i do when i see bird poo on paintwork is put a wet tea bag on it. (You may well ask why, but because it softens it for removal with water.) It needs more than a bottle to wash off poo, like a bucket full.

    How did they determine this?
  18. no difference in stop start seen with a rather larger 2kW system. There will be a big difference between 1 and 2. I would try to listen to the Focals if you can, personally I much prefer fabric tweeters over metal.
  19. Not much issue with the CAVE. It is the CTHE the TPI covers. Tensioner and chain.
  20. That seems to be true for a large number of company PHEVs Thousands of UK hybrids may have never been plugged in
  21. Theres a lot of info and advice in several threads: heres one you might find helpful. (Lots of good options outside of / less expense than a dealer) :
  22. Front left means as experienced when sitting in the car facing forward, so actually on your right as you stand looking into the engine bay from in front of the car. I think the four-way connector pair or the alternator connector are the most likely areas to find damage.
  23. DFM wire is pin 2 of the two-way connector at the alternator, a blue/white wire. It goes from there to pin 1 of a four-way connector pair 'front left in engine compartment', then continues on to the engine ECU pin 65, blue/white all the way.
  24. Driving my neighbour's Ren-No! Cashcow on a NSL bit of road we go on every week and it's 30 mph signage is flashing on and off as it thinks I'm speeding, coming back in the other direction it must see the NSL sign as there's not flashing dash symbol - either that or it's a 30 mph road going in one direction and NSL in the other lane from the other direction, after all the computer knows best and it doesn't lie, that's why some used to follow the Tw*tNav and drive into a river. 😆
  25. Thanks ever so much. Took a look at the link and that’s exactly what I was after. Whilst ordering also decided to splash out for another umbrella for the passenger side of the car too. Thanks so much for your help with this.
  26. I dont know but from what I've read many manufacturers initially are going down the less intrusive route i.e. the warning and certainly in the UK it can be turned off each time you start the car. Good job given the unreliability of speed limit detection and inadequate signage.
  27. That’s bizarre. I’d go for the Chinese copies; can’t be worse than the failed OE originals.
  28. OT but the Covid Cars are hitting the Auctions and back into the car trade. Models build during the chip shortage and that had features deleted because of this. Personally these would appeal to me. Less crap to go wrong possibly. ? What Speed Limiter System has been fitted to the latest Mk4 Fabia from July 2024, just the simple Warning, not an Active One, more resistance on the accelerator or a cut in power over the posted speed limits?
  29. Turns out there was an intermittent fault on the lambda sensor which caused this.
  30. @Detman please use the forums default language English... even if it's through a web translator.
  31. Hello Beggi and welcome Very common suspects are dry solder joints in the door lock control module (in the door), or damaged wiring between the 'A' pillar and door. Although for a Passat, this proved useful for when I had a Mk1: https://www.taligentx.com/passat/maintenance/doorlockmechanism/ Gaz
  32. My manual 1.5TSI is returning up to 63mpg on a long motorway run, with an overall average of ~56mpg since I bought it (43k miles). The 1.0 e-TEC (MHEV, DSG) I drove for about 8k miles with an average of around 53mpg. My 'gut feel' is that the 1.5 e-TEC DSG would be more economic on a long run than the 1.0 e-TEC especially with a heavy load.

  34. Have you tried "not switching it on"?
  35. Few things to note… The minimum ‘follow’ distance on the ACC is sufficient IMHO - any further and you’ll sit a mile behind the vehicle in front, so make sure that’s set appropriately (and set to remember rather than default back to ‘medium’ each time you start the car). If the vehicle overtaking you isn’t going much faster than you, then yes, your car will react by slowing down and increasing the distance, before speeding up again. This is normal for all ACC systems. If you have drive modes (can’t remember if all Kodiaqs do, but I suspect you do if you also have ACC) - use the ‘custom’ option and try putting the ACC to ‘sport’, even if you have everything else set to ‘eco’ or whatever you want. If the ACC is in ‘eco’ mode, then it makes a massive difference to how much it reacts to cars pulling in etc. compared to ‘sport’ (and even ‘normal’). You may need to increase the ‘follow’ distance by a notch though, it does get closer (and doesn’t slow down as quick!) in ‘sport’…
  36. Hello, welcome to the forum. What is it that your wife dislikes with ACC? Do you know if your Kodiaq has Adaptive Cruise - or Predictive Cruise?

  47. I am disappointed by the matrix LED lights on my 2022 Karoq. Initially I was excited by the idea of having a shadow cone only on the cars, but real life usage proves to be hard for Skoda to implement this. Most of my driving was in Romania and so far I’ve found myself switching manually more often than using the auto dipping functions. What I don’t like: when driving on the highway with anti blinding fittings between the lanes, the matrix lights constantly blind lory drivers, also they have trouble with cars in front of you when switching lanes In Romania small bridges are marked with reflective red indicators, one at each end of the bridge edge, somehow my Karoq always confuses this bridges with the rear lights of a car and makes a shadow on the railing (this also happens on the highway with reflective indicators on the railing if one of the indicators is missing and distance between them is bigger than standard) this can be very dangerous on narrow roads. when driving on poor roads with a lot of pot holes, every time I reduce the speed to avoid a hole, even if its pitch black, it dips to low beams. the quality of the LED is noticeably worst than standard, also there is a visible transition line from where the low beam illuminates and the high beam illuminates, I find it distracting.
  48. Hi. Did you get any response to your question about the tail lights? I have the same low functioning lights, they make the car look like a $20 whore.
