  1. I've been a VAG driver for many decades but never a Skoda so in a late attempt to right that wrong (I'm 75) I have a Fabia Monte Carlo 1.5 arriving next Saturday. No doubt I'll have plenty of questions and comments which I'll post in the appropriate section especially as I've never driven the car nor even seen one; how's that for confidence in a marque?!
  2. The Moisture in the Catalytic Converter interests me. Sounds like BS.
  3. 'Currently'. Even when it is at a higher price it will be better / cheaper than those paying 75-89 pence a kWh for electric. Not as good as those maybe paying 6.7 - 44 pence a kWh & getting 5 miles a kWh. Ford e-Puma. They will be 'Much cheapness' in another year and even more so in 2.
  4. I'm currently paying 1.24 a litre and get about 40mpg from the Kodiaq so roughly £28 for 200 miles. In the swift it would be £22.50 ish for 200 miles and less if it was a motorway run. All fuel only of course
  5. Will be interesting to see if they bother to bring the powertrain to the UK market. LPG in the UK certainly has declined a lot in recent years. The Morrisons near me still sells it but I think it's the only mainstream place. About £1 a litre I think, which combined with the higher consumption probably doesn't make for much of a saving in running costs. Looking at other countries though, it looks like some places selling it for less than 70 cents a litre in Belgium which would be nice. Maybe if other manufacturers give it a go we might see a return but I won't be holding my breath.
  6. It is often more about which model, or even engine in a particular model, I seem to find. Luck also. I had a twin charge Fabia but mine was fine when others had nightmares.
  7. Welcom to Briskoda @YT541 150HP in that should should have a bit of poke. Mind your right foot!
  8. Ok, just a limited review after a hundred some kilometers on dry road, mostly highway and some city. Sunny days, around 25-28° C. Just to mention, after tire fitting I did wheel aligment too. Front Toe was set at +0.2° (I think degrees not milimeters, forgot to ask). For those unfamiliar with "Toe" it means front tires are facing slightly inwards (gives slightly better straight line hold). So Pirelli ....as any allseason tire it has a bit of tendency to steer left and right (tread pattern, new tire with a lot of thread) BUT it is remarkably miniscule !! It's more in a sense of high performance tire, where you need to stay focused and hold the wheel s tiny bit firmer. Or maybe it's just, being stiff XL tire. Cinturato is very precise and also in curves, no sidewall bending or understear. I was driving one long, medium sharp, highway curve at 170-180km/h, it was a breeze, felt like a razor blade. Sharp and precise. Braking.......after Michelin, stoping with Pirelli is nice. So much, that car actually feels lighter because braking is so much better and confident. Of course, all of this is a bit "after the shock modification" review, so not quite apples and apples, but as I said modification was somewhat subtle and difference with Cinturato is not. In next few days, might have a rain here, so if I'm out I'll let you know
  9. I have just been watching the latest Harrys Garage video only 4 hours old. He meets up with Jeremy Clarkson at his pub (The Farmers Dog) to talk about Jaguar and the future of the brand and other things and it gets really interesting from 17 minutes and 45 seconds into when they both discuss modern trends of screens and menu driven systems on cars and then a bit further on they get into electric cars. Spoiler alert, some of you will not like the electric section, while I know that some of you will agree with a lot of the comments they ake about the utter madness that some the cars are these days.
  10. The vehicle is maintained properly and running well because of it. Peace of mind and contentment is all the silver lining needed. IMO anyway!!
  11. Its almost as if Barrie Crampton was actually telling the real truth after all, who knew that???🙄🙄
  12. Hi @K1RKY and welcome to Briskoda. I've asked admin to get your post moved to the Elroq forum where more of your fellow Elroq owners will see it and be able to assist 👍
  13. Yeah it doesn't. I use it everyday...I do 8 miles each way to work minimum. I know it needs a good run every now and then. I tend to drive lower gear high revs too....
  14. Have edited for you to be clear
  15. Glad for you. It does sound as though they haven't got a fix. Be very interesting to hear if the problem is repeated with your new car.
  16. You might be in luck @kaninja - I remembered some chap from India talking about his updating and wondered whether he'd had the files or links. Discovered a link to a page that has RW 308: Here Its another forum called Drive2.ru which I have seen reference to previously but have absolutely no idea whether the software works or not. Someone may chime in and say its brilliant and this guy's a genius, someone might flag its littered with bugs or ripped badly. I think at this stage its all you're likely to get without going to a dealer and asking for the latest software update. The thread I found it on is this one - page 2. Have a read as I've stopped after finding the link for you. Good luck!
  17. That's not what the SMMT data is showing, BEVs and Hybrids, many now plug in, just over half of all registrations.
  18. I’ve noticed the same as well. Not sure if it’s the wheel design, which are much trickier to clean than previous cars. Mk 2 Skoda and VW ID3
  19. Depending on how hard a hit it was there could be chassis damage/alignment problems as well as drive shaft issues and engine/gearbox mounts etc it could be a long list. If you are going to repair it then it might be worth getting it checked for alignment/bent chassis first before spending money on it and discovering its a rightoff. You might be able to get a body shop to check it as a homer/cash for you. Alasdair
  20. Vehicle registered: 27/05/2025 https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202505102240121?sort=price-asc&searchId=aac32efe-a95c-4257-909e-0590435ffd3c&make=Skoda&model=Enyaq&page=1&postcode=m45%206dj&year-from=2024&advertising-location=at_cars&fromsra&backLinkQueryParams=channel%3Dcars%26make%3DSkoda%26model%3DEnyaq%26postcode%3Dm45%25206dj%26sort%3Dprice-asc%26year-from%3D2024%26flrfc%3D1 This model, along with others, went into serial production on November 25, 2020, with the first cars delivered to customers in late April 2021. A new, updated version of the Enyaq entered production on February 27, 2025
  21. Thing did go bad after Aliastair Stewart moved on from being the Brand Director and then various Front men / woman took senior positions in VW Group & Skoda. He never pretended there were no issues and passed on Customers to useless Communications Managers & Warranty Managers. You could get complaints to him. 2015 they were caught out as cheats and liars, and from then on they really did treat customers as cash cows.
  22. Disable [LN]_Heated_steering_wheel_button in 19 gateway adaptations and make sure you have [LO]_Heated_steering_wheel_version: [VO]_LRH_Gen_2_mod in 8 - Climate Control Module coding I have such coding and can change the heating level from SW button
  23. It might be worth having a moan to Skoda UK Customer Services. They can sometimes speak to the dealer and get you moved up the queue. It sounds more like an aftermarket warranty to me.
  24. I'm running it down to Folkestone tomorrow to make sure it's water tight before I start a month-long drive to Porto and back. I'll let you know how I get on. The car has been a great servant for the past nine years.
  25. There are so many Polestar on offer nearly new /low miles. The Airport Hire cars that are delivered by the Bakers Dozen or more regularly and ones hardly used removed. Delivered to Sporting Events like Tennis & Golf also for a few days or weeks use. How much Credits Geely sell to other manufacturers in the UK that are not Registering enough No Emissions vehicles others will maybe know or find out. Smoke an mirrors right across BEV sales / registrations in the UK. Kidology about losses maybe a Taxes nor needing to be paid, and penalties to the Treasury. ... Social domestic leisure, or maybe Commuting, or even Business, Commuting , Social domestic and leisure. 60 MPH NSL UK. Just transport. Parked on drive or street or public car parks. Insurance not that high for some. What a bl00dy plaster. Just get a pre 2024 EV as a commuter. They are available for around £5,000-6,000.

In the UK the Service Regime / Recommendation, Guidelines / Schedule / Specification is at 40,000 miles / 4 years. 3 Plugs with the Fixed Price menu was the same as 4 plugs. Some are now being asked for £200 be it 3 or 4 plugs. Greedu Barstewards. 1.0 TSI,s can have 1 plug poor by 30,000 miles.
  27. Certainly looks like the sensor has failed. It was the NSR which failed on ours a few years ago, lighting up the dash and bleeping like billyo.
  28. And this is the issue. I searched for "sounder" which is what I would call it. I did indeed use the search function and found bubkiss. Appreciate the reply to tell me its called a buzzer though ;). I did fit it this weekend and it was directly behind the aerial angled toward the front of the car unlike on the pot you pointed out that it was " to the right of the aerial". Chris
  29. 10 plugs and tool are less than 10$ you dont change only rubber seal. whole new plug. https://www.amazon.com/06L103801-Removal-Replacement-Compatible-Passat/dp/B0F9KPWKBD/ref=ex_alt_wg_d?_encoding=UTF8&pf_rd_r=17JH5WMZWQ2C8NWT28GQ&pf_rd_p=4e1b46a8-daf9-4433-b97e-d6df97cf3699&pd_rd_i=B0F9KPWKBD&psc=1&pd_rd_w=G9Xr0&pd_rd_wg=YVtPL&pd_rd_r=ee260b5e-eb71-4417-91b9-699f53aed51a&content-id=amzn1.sym.4e1b46a8-daf9-4433-b97e-d6df97cf3699 2€ one piece. https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/06l103801-oil-drain-plug-m14x1-5x22-china-28273.html
  30. Isn't that type of sump plug sealed with an o-ring (rubber)? May just need to replace that. Reg or VIN would help me to check part numbers.
  31. 1 point
my first change was on 60000 kms, in miles it would be 37000 miles.
  32. Looking on Autotrader wouldn't prove enough "fake sales" beyond pre-reg done by main dealers. The publicised losses are so large it goes far beyond UK sales numbers. The links provided are opinions from industry analysts looking at the global market. So now, the new goal post according to you: pre-reg = fake sale? Also, can dealership network unsold stock be related to Polestar manufacturer losses?
  33. Hi, Yes, I confirm. I didn’t wind the piston. I just pushed straight as per @ApertureS 👋 recommendations.

Hello, welcome to the forum. Reasonably sure that the plugs are good for at least 30,000 miles (I think I've actually seen refs to 40K)

Very nice, hope you enjoy. Waiting for our Elroq to turn up,hopefully only a few weeks now
  36. Thanks Gav, I'll not lie, it's been an emotional couple of days knowing she was going, testament I think to the fact that I'd done more on the car than anything else prior, and it's been a real labour of love. I'll keep the thread updated with any pics of the car I get as time goes by. I would like to say thank you to all of you who've commented, contributed etc, these positive comments are more impactful that you'd ever know. Much love.x
  37. Update time As you know I was talking about the possibility of the Fabia finding a new home, but before that I needed to get the final mapping sorted so that it was at least set up properly for any prospective new owner. I went back to Performance Torque in nearby Wombourne, and Will (the owner) remembered the car from back when he did the initial base mapping. I discussed the fact that the car was going to be sold and we agreed for him to set the car up on not too an aggressive a set up, to make sure it was going to be as nice and reliable as possible, and not just set up for headline figures. A couple of days later I get the call to say the car is done. With the larger injectors the car was still making more power than the 300bhp, but with the downside of much greater smoke levels, so in the interest of not being a complete unsociable animal, he settled at 2.0 bar of boost and the amount of 300.6 bhp. I'm made up that the car made a number starting with a 3, and that it was at such a conservative boost level. Kind of proved the concept right I had in my mind when building the engine. End result is a car that is very fast indeed, with nearly 400lb/ft of torque it just gathers pace very, very quickly indeed. The drive back from mapping was an emotional bitter sweet journey as a few days before I had agreed a deal to sell the car to a friend who had previously bought my classic 1969 Mk2 Austin Mini from me, so I know above all else the car is going to a good home. The Fabia will be joining his other cars in his eclectic collection such as GT3 RS, Audi R8, Escort Cosworth, Numerous 306 GTI-6's and will lead a pampered life within his heated garage, much like it has done with me for all these years. So today I waved goodbye to her. Time now to focus on getting my Mercedes W124 concours restoration back underway and try not to mourn the passing of Daffodil too much.
  38. Hi both, yes got the battery coded correctly and confirmed it is charging at right voltage now. Spoke to the electrician and he said it was not necessary to manually recharge at moment, went on a long journey (160 mile) and going back to electrician shortly per his request to run some tests just to make sure everything is still ok. No errors showed up and no issues in the journey so all good so far. And yes, apologies, I meant electrician rather than mechanic although he is an all rounder with 30+ years' experience. Just glad it wasn't anything major, hoping it stays that way :)

I found the extra noise isolation of the edition well worth it. It’s whisper quiet, compared at least to my Old Ford Puma.
  40. Don't talk daft... We are many many years from that being reality believe me... It's part of my day job.
  41. 10 MPH seems extremely high, mine is more like 3 MPH and because it is a manual then it will only do this if the car is out of gear and in neutral because even in first gear the speed never drops below ~ 6MPH and even if it did I would think the ECU would know this and inhibit the stop anyway, surprising as well that it doesn't know if its "in gear" if a automatic but maybe these DSG gearboxes are different?, anyhow it still shouldn't shut down the engine until the car is practically at a standstill, if mine just starts moving (say on a incline) the engine will restart before the speed even registers.
  42. Thanks for that. Yes I thought after taking it out yesterday that it happened after it got warm on those two occasions, so I think he's made it better but not fully cured it. I'll see what they are suggesting tomorrow about going forward and costings..or I could wait for the tuning guy to be free. My main concern for getting it was checked was to make sure it wasn't the timing. They've stripped it down and said it's perfect so why it started now I have no idea. We just use this car for holidays with it being an estate and I'm anxious about breaking down if it's anything major. I suppose they can recheck the misfiring numbers as he reset them Friday. And I do have breakdown cover. I was seriously thinking about trading it in yesterday but I dont see why I should after 27000 miles! Plus it then becomes someone else's issue. It hasn't shown any fault codes to date .... There were some background menus that they showed me which showed misfiring and moisture on the cat if that's what you mean....I will get them to recheck the misfires this week. Thanks for your advice.....they gonna hate me tomorrow when I reel off all this stuff!
  43. I presume you’ve enabled the “remember me” button in the login page? Assuming so, do you have your browser set to clear the cache every time you exit the browser or site?
  44. Cheapest way would be to contact a local member who has HEX-V2 or HEX-NET VCDS.

Hi, and welcome to the forum! Wish your joining wasn’t because of a break in though. I’m sure you’ll post about your fuse issues in the correct section, so I’ll be interested to see what issues you are having since the theft and work.
  46. I have a similar noise when turning off my vRS; no idea what it is..
