  1. There seems to be some strong clutching of straws and histrionics from the anti EV people if that video is anything to go by.
  2. Purely by accident I happened to catch the top Gear repeat on BBC3 last night where Mr Clarkson did his level best to destroy the then new Yeti, including landing a helicopter on the roof. He clearly came away very impressed with all aspects of the car and, after 13 years of owning mine (and neither trying to land a helicopter on the roof nor using it as a mobile tattoo studio) I have to say he wasn't wrong. I'll repeat that as you don't often hear it. Jeremy Clarkson wasn't wrong. Yes, the Skoda Yeti has proved itself to be Top Gear.
  3. This will probably be the last model enhancement on the Mk4 Octi, which has to be kept alive until 2030 and perhaps a little beyond (in which case another tweak could be on the cars a couple of years down the road). Skoda isn't alone in doing this to existing models as the market is in a state of flux at the moment with demand for pure BEVs (which were mandated to be the majority if not the total of a maker's sales) faltering once the tax incentives to buy one dried up. Facelifts are a whole lot cheaper than coming up with totally new models.
  4. Go into engine. Then live data. Scroll down until you find it. Post your results, age, mileage etc. Would be good to compare.

Clean the window thoroughly first. I have used a little french chalk / talcum powder, which worked well on the rubber bits. Thanks. AG Falco
  6. Did another DSG adaptation today. Since the DSG service the car has felt a bit sluggish and a noticeable jerk in and out of 1 & 2, and up changes even when at constant speed. So tried again with the adaptation following some tips from @AL2772 Now it is silky smooth and holds the gears nicely. Very happy with the result. Also loaded up with ceramic tiles for our new utility room. It turns out 180kg in the boot is just the right ride height. I think an Eibach pro kit might be the next big purchase once the builders are paid!

Looking at the VCDS map, you have a few people local to you. It looks like @SJFISHER67 is from the Winchester area. 8. My third EV charger ie the Granny cable, has a 16A setting ad do many of these devices sold in the UK. Dont think they disable it for the UK sales. I could change a twin socket to a Commando 16A socket. Be nice to maximise EV charging when the price goes negative. It could mean 15 KWs plus house load which would push the 80A main fuse those nice people from the Grid reduced me to.
  9. These are standard size on the MK1 VAG 1.8T 150/180bhp range. It's in a box to stop heatsoak. But, you might as well get a decent filter to put in the original airbox.
  10. My Superb Mk4 is my fifth car with keyless locking, none have drained the keyfob battery as fast as this one. Also, have you tried not being rude for 5 minutes?
  11. Hi everyone. I'm on my 4th Superb L&K. My current is 2025. I have an issue with the start stop. I'm aware that low battery can prevent it from working etc, but my start stop works to stop the engine, but neither the front radar or wiggle on the steer wheel will restart the engine. The only way to restart is by the accelerator pedal or switching off the start stop function. So in essence, the radar or steer wheel won't restart car. The adaptive Cruise control works fine.. thank you for your help with this. By the way. I've had the car in skoda and they're baffled. It must me something daft.
  12. Symptom, Upon locking the car I got a double pulse, from past experience I diagnoses the infamous flexible bit of the harness (pass side front door wasn't locking), poor design (should have used more flexible wires but that would have added £1 to manufacturing costs) I replaced the D/S 3 years ago and bought 2 harnesses at the time so had a spare in the loft, now fitted and all good. I'm going to repair the removed one as a spare
  13. There'll be a sticker on the slam panel under the bonnet but it'll be R1234YF
  14. It's an ignition starter switch. It's the component that activates the electrical systems and signals the starter solenoid to crank the engine. Not sure what you were asking for?
  15. The OP hasn't visited since October '24, so you may not get a response. As has been said, worth a search to see how successful others have been. I believe this is quite a common fault.

I'm in North Derbyshire, otherwise I could have helped. I have OBDeleven. I doubt that you could use a generic scanner/code reader unless it's very high-end.
  17. Can you put one of the wider hoses or it doesn’t fit in the whole of the dipstick? I have similar if not the same pump and I usually try to put the widest possible hose. Also try to lift the hose slightly once the bottom is hit, and move the hose up and down a little while the pump sucks the oil. PS: I don’t have the same engine. So I hope that my suggestions aren’t completely useless 😀
  18. Oh, and I should have mentioned the excellent video quality

Hi all. About a month ago a picked up my first car, a 2016 Fabia. The dealership noted 'applied lubricant front window mechanism' Since driving it the past month, the window was become very squeaky! I've applied silicone spray WD40 today but no fix. Any other thoughts? The noise is unbearable 20260620_184523(1)_1_1.mp4
  20. Going through obd11 on my car a 2 year and 2 month old diesel vRS with 64,000 miles. You can see how many times the starter has been activated. Manual starts on mine = 8860 Automatic starts ( start stop) = 13038 Total 21898! That’s an average of 27 starter activations a day! How does the poor little battery cope lol
  21. I passed this last week. I needed to fill up with fuel so decided to drive around for a bit until I got to this special milage. I wasn't clever enough to reset the trip at the right time.
  22. Sounds exactly like mine above. Use something like carista or obd11 and check the wheel speeds when the car is moving. If they’re all reading the same then it’s not going to be an abs sensor, and I suspect much more likely to be a relay fuse (which I suspect it is given it’s heat related). If one of the sensors isn’t giving a speed reading then it’ll likely be that sensor (although could be a cracked hub as happened to me, but less likely)
  23. Then you can’t active ACC.
  24. Cheers for these and the hospitality @Tankdave - yes will see how it goes in the winter. I do find I can’t tell if the car behind is an unmarked copper but I’ll just get used to that. For the heat and light benefits for the kids it’ll be worth it. Boot mat going to be tested tomorrow as the Mrs does a tip run…
  25. Congrats on winning your prize today @Peterj222 a picture for your memories. Nice to see you again
  26. 💲💲💲 😂
  27. Not sure on the Kodiak but on my Octavia there are two antennas. FM one on roof and DAB one in rear side window. These connectors I think need pushing in and at the same time release tab. and then pull out. Always have trouble with them. Alasdair
  28. It might have just taken a few goes to do a decent regen, and after that, taken some time to register everything is now ok.
  29. So my engine light is not showing anymore and my rpm in neutral is back to normal, why that could be
  30. @lol-lol you got your rates that low partly thanks to your EV, I don't have one, or the ability to charge at home. If was to go and buy storage batteries etc and the HA found out, I'd be in breach of their rules. There really is with this policy, the creation of further class barriers etc which has been discussed before and is but one reason that the governments plan to get us all in electric cars is failing dismally. It is a poorly thought out policy which is being pushed by the elites with zero regard for the majority of citizens who for various reasons cannot have an electric car.
  31. This was an interesting repair and highlights the problems with EVs which have left idle for an extended length of time, so you most definitely do not want to get yourself incarcerated at His Majesty's pleasure. When you come out, you will have a sizeable bill to get your car back running again.
  32. I would love to have 3 phase like so many European countries do as well as 16A as the normal socket output. Solar panels as well as batteries are tested and have tens of millions of examples running in much higher temperatures than the UK so I am not worried in that regard. Their efficiency can drop a bit in high temperatures and in some super hot places they do a bit of water cooling which restores their peak efficiency. As with tve batteries just amazed how robust they are. Plugged in, not plugged in, hitting maximum capacity of the batteries and the battery stops the panels adding power no problem. Cooling of the batteries seems very conservative with the fans kicking in to cool the cells regularly when temps on high side. Since China is the world supplier of so many electrical devices from small devices to cars, trucks etc and in to so many markets ie cold to very hot, I am pleasantly surprised at their quality. Not surprised they have come to dominate most consumer markets.
  33. A couple of million Germans and several million other Europeans are running this fine. We do UK electrical networks are inferior in some ways ie only 13A sockets instead of 16A which is the UK norm for heavier duty outlets in Europe. I do not see the commissioning of the reports as trying to push on plug in solar in the UK but more to make sure the UK government does not get burnt by consequences that pop up later. Still more to do as the report states and many of us are generating our our electricity already, not from roof top solar and powerwall type batteries but by exactly this sort of tech but we are not feeding back through wall sockets but via shoebox batteries that link between the solar and the power hungry devices like our fridge freezers and TVs. looks like it is making progress and and at quite a pace and we should be looking to not fall so far behind what many other countries are doing and put up with high energy bills because most of our energy companies, not Octopus, are profit maximising entities.
