  3. Recently i was owned by an Audi 5 TDI s line Quattro. I should have let him go but no, i had to attempt to beat him in a straight line road late at night. I had a feeling he had the same 190 TDi as i had and he did. So why did he DESTROY me? My Mrs was of no help in my whimpering state as she was in the car at the time. She found it to be hilarious and commented on my balls shrinking and returning to the cavity inside the body and the shame that i should feel ( cow). She had no understanding of 400 newton meters of torque involved in this disgrace or the fact i was in pure "SPORT". To her i was a part time Morris dancer with a severe liking for model trains. I wasn't the man she married. Common tale these days Was it Quattro, was it a beefed up example, was the driver anorexic and weighed in at 5 stone , did he have a nitrous system , a ****ing letter from jesus!!!! I haven't slept well in a week and keep flashing back to the 2 fingers thrust from the window and the hazard lights blinding my peepers. I know i should be worrying about Brexit , the Russians, the Syrian conflict and the meteor that's about to destroy all mankind,, but .... I don't know bout your dealings with Audi drivers. I find the ones i meet to be arrogant and demeaning to the brand of Schkoda. So experts , what low cost additions could i add to my conquered beast? Just to get a rise out of these pretenders

  5. Picked mine up yesterday. I didn't notice some scuffs/marring in the lacquer high up near the roof line/tailgate, something must have rubbed on it. Too bloody late to worth chasing after I'd signed the collection papers! :( I think I've manage to buff it out myself though. Make sure you check along the sides for dents/scratches, the wheels, roof for hale stone damage, look at the paint at an angle to catch any scuffs in the light too. They don't include a service book on these new Skoda's I was told, all digital apparently, car tells you when it's due. My first impressions of the car are they are very well loaded, the seats are great and the stereo is good fun to play with. The engine is a peach, this is my first petrol turbo only having had highish power N/A engines in the past. It seems to produce boost from 800rpm and pulls like a train, bloody fantastic. I'm very impressed.

  9. I saw in an earlier post that people were discussing the usb sockets and being able to leave a phone or MP3 player in the car but not being able to because the cover won't slide shut. I bought a right angled connector from Amazon and it allows me to slide the cover over with the iPod left underneath. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00MWI7TTS?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_yo_pop_mb_pd_t2

  10. Hi guys, Recently i bought a "new" family which has to replace previous Golf Mk5 2.0 TDI... Immediately after purchase i knew which way will it go, OEM+, like the Mk5 was... So let's start with new one... Škoda Octavia 5E 1.6 TDI, 77kW, 2014.g Elegance equipment 127.000 km on clock First off all was taking care of ugly yellow bulbs all around, so i replace them all with LED, interior, trunk, licence plate and puddle light And of course VCDS tweeks: - Start & Stop OFF - Cornering lights - DRL's in fog light - Both rear fog lights active - Mirror dip in reverse - vRS start up logo on Bolero and Maxidot - Needle sweep/test - Stopwatch on maxdot - Refuel quantity - USA mode in turn signal - TPMS activation - Locking horn confirmation Few weeks later, a light detailing was done before winter... Decontamination with clay bar And final result... Also engine bay was awful and need some cleaning... Interior shoot after cleaning... Also had few dents on exterior so i drove it to the PDR guy to remove it Enough of boring pictures, let's make some fun, NEW PAAARTS FK Coils... vRS bumper ...and accessories... ...and brand new Veemann VFS-25 19x8,5 Immediately coated with Gyeon RIM Some testing on rainy day That's all for now, sadly waiting for warmer days to mount coillovers and wheels on car... Hope you like it

  11. I so wish they’d put the 1.0T 115 in the Citigo or even the 90. I’d snap their hand off and I’m sure many others would too. I think the Citigo is the better looking car of the three but it’s just a shame you can’t get a bit more oomph .

  12. Update!! After my social media and forum campaign, Skoda Winchester have finally written to us to say they will pay for the cooling upgrade (although they did ask me to remove my social media posts, which i wont be doing, but i will be telling everyone that they ended up doing the right thing, which is the right thing to do). So Winchester Skoda are capable of good customer service after all, which is good. Its just a shame that it took so much effort. Oh well, we live and learn.

  17. OK - an update to this long saga. I contacted Skoda UK Customer Service and they have been very helpful. It is a great shame that the dealer didn't contact them immediately the problem was discovered. It is complicated but Skoda UK have made a significant contribution to the repair cost. They also offered to have the car valeted to remove the mould smell. This was done by the dealer and was completely ineffective so the dealer then contacted a specialist who spent a whole day removing the under carpet materials and treating them with some magic mould 'eater'. I don't know the details but it then needed several days for the underfelt to dry out before the car was finally re-assembled and returned to us. I would be lying if I said the car smells like new! The smell has permeated everything and it will take a while for it to dissipate, but it is much much better than before and more important I hope we have got rid of any possible re-occurrence. I may try another large plastic container with a bag of cat litter tipped out inside - this worked quite well before the fix in soaking up the smell.

  18. Trim removal tool (cheap as chips on eBay). Very tight fit and you will likely break a clip or two - replacement grille isn't expensive. Be careful not to scratch/mark the surrounding dash surface. See this thread: And:

Anyway, the news we've all been waiting for... ... My Amundsen has returned from Poland all coded and ready! MIB2 Install by SashaGrace, on Flickr That's now the correct screen showing a vRS instead of a Scout (ditto the start screen). It turns out my cheap android phone isn't compatible with android auto, but I've found another one lying around which should be android auto and mirror link compatible so I can see that working as Video in Motion has also been activated. Thanks so much to @pab567who was the brains behind this operation for his patience dealing with me. It is much appreciated. I intend to enjoy all the features properly tomorrow

  31. Yes, there are just open vents under the seats and one set does both sides, just stops any bits or pieces going in there.

  33. You'll need to either send it to someone who can do it for you ( can do it if you wish) or you can avail yourself of a software update disc and a maps disc and set to yourself. This thread is about 5 years old now so a lot of what's been written is now outdated, but it covers the basics even though the pics are now ronnied. However, to shorten the process of trawling through all that for you... Do a quick google for RNS510 5238 Josi and that will probably find you the software. 5238 is a catch all software which should be good for most if not all units. Latest maps version is V15 (8515) and you will need either this or another version to reload after the software update (maps and music will be deleted).

  34. From what I've seen it's never in the finance agreement to claw back. Probably doesn't need to be as 90%+ people who take out finance deals aren't in a position to pay it off straight away. I guess they will lose their commission if you do it in 14 days. Guess if you do it you can always see which car the salesman has and put an envelope with 50 quid in it under the wiper Think I will do it that way as the deal I have seems fair. Don't want to cost the guy a commission. Haven't worked out what the interest would be to knock off the £1500 though.

  35. Your unit is currently running a 2 partition hard drive system (maps & music) and can't use the latest POI (speed camera, petrol stations, etc.) which can be either uploaded yourself or used from the maps version (if applicable). Updating the software will reformat the hard drive to give you 3 partitions (maps, music & POI) and allow the newer functions. You'll also get little tweaks like radio text and a few other little fixes,

  44. I've got a simpler solution. Have a key with a blade.. like on a door.. which fits into a barrel, with a chip in which could match the chip in the car, which could then turns the barrel in order to start the car.

  47. I have had both of the factory installed rear brake light bulbs in my Superb fail in this unusual manner. The filament detaches internally as the bulb heats up with use, only to spark/weld itself shut a few moments later, when they work correctly for hours. But by then the bulb failure is logged and is not reset until the ignition is turned off/on. For me, this went on for days. I eventually saw this happen with the bulb in my hand. The new bulbs supplied from a Skoda dealer were a different brand (Hitachi £4 IIRC), the problem has never returned in the 10 months since these were fitted. I tried reseating the bulb, applying WD40 etc. before replacement, but to no benefit. Depending on the brand, these bulbs are 16w or 18w. They run at a reduced brightness when the lights are on (to appear as a 5w would - dimmed by the controller) and then work at full power as a brake light. So the single filament bulb performs as the function of both filaments in an old 5w/21w stop/tail bulb (type 382 IIRC?). HTH, Mike
