  1. I get very good results with superglue on this kind of break. Try that first before ordering a new one.
  2. If you have access to a DTC / OBD2 reader, check for error codes. If you have a slope or wet grass or sand let someone start the car with a F1 start and watch for turning and spinning rear wheels. Do you hear or feel the car scratching the road when it is wet and slippery or are you able to still pull away quite brisk? If the answer is the first you might only have FWD otherwise 4x4.
  3. The VAG wheel colour code is / used to be the last 3 digits of the PN. For my winter wheels - VW Road America - PN 3B0601025L Z31, the colour code would be Z31- bright silver.
  4. My daughter's FII - BXW engine - failed its MOT because of a leak behind the flexible exhaust pipe. I bought a kit on Ebay which included the flex pipe, 2 x 48mm clamps and exhaust putty. The exhaust had a small leak at last year's MOT which got an advisory and we should have fixed it really for this MOT. Well, I tried with a larger hose clamp and sealant but it did not convince the tester. I started by marking the cuts on the exhaust pipe and undid the front end to the manifold. There are 3 x 16mm bolts to take off which can be a little stuck, and a XZN bolt. I left the back section in place and cut with a small angle grinder that part straight and did the front end on a bench. The replacement fits over the old exhaust. The OD is 45.2mm and it was a good and tight fit with the new part. There is about 5 cm overlap on the old exhaust. I tried to clamp it first without the exhaust putty but still had a small leak so had to fit it with exhaust putty and the leak was gone.
  5. The Columbus radio uses CAN 2.0, the preFL Roomster and FII use CAN 1.6. You can use a Canbus adapter apparently.
  6. We had a similar problem with my daughter's FII. Her car had the problem in the passenger door. I left a thread on the Fabia forum part. You can take the door lock apart and swap too little micro switches around. The micro switches get worn out over time. You can swap them because the two use oposing contacts inside. Or you get a new lock off ebay or from elsewhere.
  7. Skoda UK use this. Continental Skoda franchises - Germany, France... - but also Australia claim for the same engines 210000 Km and no time interval..... Is this extreme caution or rip off?
  8. Did you look at inner and outer CV joints?
  9. Hi, If you can, do a DTC check.
  10. I have been to the Lion garage in Leicester a few times. They are o.k. For our DSG oil change I went to the dealer. The price then was not much different.
  11. Floor it on slippery ground. Since the Haldex Gen4 the system engages preemptively, i.e. when you start driving off or when you are accelerating from a steady speed the rear wheels will get more power through the Haldex clutch. The Haldex controller gets inputs from the ECU and even before there is slip on the front wheels the rear wheels kick in if "asked" for by the ECU. The Haldex is disengaged when braking and when the handbrake is on.
  12. If everything is new - discs, pads and even calipers - has your son acidentally twisted the calipers on the brake hoses? If this is from the front axle I would put the front end on exle stands and run the engine / wheels and brake trying to replicate the noise at "standstill".
  13. Are you working with the correct wiring diagrams? I looked into retrofitting heated seats from a Polo and found that the Polo and Fabia BCMs are different in function and pin outs. You can use clues from one car to the next but carbon copy is tricky.
  14. You just need to be brave and patient when the fuel light comes on and keep going.
  15. And this states what?
  16. Norris must have watched the MotoGP race in Austria where Brad Binder stayed out in the rain and won on slicks whereas everybody else came in for rain gear. He was going round some corners at walking pace but did not drop the bike.
  17. Mercedes should have kept Bottas and asked Hamilton to move on.
  18. I put a high RVC into our SII. There are a couple of write ups on the forum. You will also need to code the car.
  19. Thanks for the replies. Is the tenacious tape flexible?
  20. I refurbished my bike seat with a nice new cover. I need to cover the staples so that they do not scratch the tank and side panels. Does anyone know what flexible tape would stick really well to vinyl? I have tried duct / gaffer tape, electrical cloth tape and also sticky spray, which left a bit of a sticky mess - the spray not me.
  21. At worst you will get stopped and fined....
  22. I have attached the FL model. Superb - fog lights.pdf
  23. The wiring and the light switch might be interchangeable, but not the lights, unless you redesign the bumper.
  24. Thanks for the replies, I found the old thread about your Polo. Our car is a 2009 BXW. I was hoping someone would give me the Fabia dimensions and I did not have to crawl under the car. I found your senior aftermarket place I think. They are called seniorflexonics now. I will get the car on the ramp and measure.
