  1. Hi NZ, Tena Koe and welcome to the forum. That was a nice little run for your first drive. Did you have any chance to 'explore' the upper performance range - or are there too many speed traps and mufti-cars around now?
  2. Hello Darkace, welcome to the forum. I cannot comment specifically on the Scala/Kamiq - but you should be getting at least 2-3 wipes (forward and back) per second on high speed. How does yours compare with this? Wipe speed does vary while using Intermittant with the rain-sensor, but in my experience, is not faster than full speed on the stalk.
  3. Purely cost saving, even when not base model.
  4. Hi Roberto, how is your experience with the Koni SAs? Considering them myself.
  5. Hi Noli, very likely a Golf 8 version of the same size engine will fit. I got a Golf 7 engine cover for my 1.4 TSI, which also came from the factory without one. Personally I think the engine bay looks more finished with one fitted. Try the 'Bay.
  6. Very unlikely that R134A can be reused, the refrigerant is a complex 'cocktail' of gasses and lube-oil which cannot be guaranteed to remain in correct proportions after use. Not to say that some disreputable operators don't do this to save on disposal costs however.

Yum, roadkill stew. I got a pheasant once - but that was a very long time before collision avoidance was even a dream!

Going on my experiences with the collision avoidance system, full-blown, ABS emergency stop false alarms will be rare. I've only had two or three in 6 years. More common is the advance warning as you overtake a vehicle turning-off to the left - but not really an issue, serves as a check that the system is working.
  9. Or even London!
  10. Hi BC, if the dealer continues to ignore your case, I'd strongly consider filing with the County Court, that should get their attention pretty quickly.
  11. I believe that there is a modern version of the DS11 pad compound available - I found this very good for anti-fade qualities on the oversized (plain) discs on my rally car of long ago. Only slight drawback was having to condition them - and to maintain the pad surface once conditioned.
  12. Hi BC, great to hear that your independant engineer has confirmed not user error/abuse, this should have been obvious to the supplying dealer too. Next step should initially be to go back to dealer with the report to see what they propose to do, escalate to VAG customer services if dealer will not accept liability. Minimum, loan/free rental car of, at least, same spec as yours for full period and full payment for independant engineers report. Does you vehicle insurance include legal cover?
  13. Yes, I have to admit those things look pretty intimidating, however, it's the female Katipo you really have to look out for!
  14. OK, so what makes me think that Amanda's an arachniphobe?
  15. Hi Tdog, I assume you have the estate - if you do have the variable boot floor, the max. loading is something around 80KG. you can check by seeing if it is possible to fold it down - in raised position there is very little 'lip' at the rear of the load bay.
  16. Hi Harry, I'd stick with the same material the original plug was made from - far better to risk damage to the plug rather than the sump drain-hole (through cross-threading/overtightning)
  17. Hi Stewart, check if the operating relief pressure is marked on the coolant system cap, system operating pressure should be a little lower than that - I'd take a guess at around 1.5-2.0 bar.
  18. Hi Tui, welcome to the forum. That looks like a flexible coupling failing - personally I'd give that a closer look as carbon monoxide is very toxic but odorless, although you can often smell other combustion-products if exhaust gasses are leaking into the cabin.
  19. Probably worth giving the engine a head-off inspection - you may have been very lucky that the belt failed while idling in neutral - low kinetic energy and engine not being driven by wheels after failure.
  20. Hi Erroll, I can suggest Fuchs Titan Pro C3, 5W30. Meets VW 504/507 spec, less than £28 for 5 litres, free delivery from supplier on a large online site.
  21. G12, G13 and G12++/evo coolants are all compatible. Check for silicate bag in coolant expansion tank, advisable to remove if possible - or replace tank.
  22. As the MK3 is effectively a Golf 7, I'd suspect that those will fit your Octavia. Golf Mk7, I believe.

  24. Hi Tas, a warm welcome to the forum. Do you reckon the new car could 'eat' the old Holden?
  25. By far the easiest way is to simply replace the coolant expansion tank before there's any chance of the silica bag breaking down - quick, clean and easy job to do yourself. Tools required - new OEM expansion tank (make sure 'without silicat'), turkey baster to empty tank, suitable hose clip pliers (available online) approx. 500mls G13 or G12++ coolant to refill tank.
