  1. How about a really nice, restored big-block Challenger or Camaro?
  2. +1 for the sound of a big V8, arguably the best engine sound around.
  3. I did a search myself - but couldn't find anything, I'm sure it was relatively simple - but a little time-consuming. Probably something like slowly adding coolant with the engine running, up to temperature and the heater full on. There is possibly an air-bleed valve somewhere. Get the original garage to sort it.
  4. Put a search for air lock coolant system, I 'm sure I've seen some reference to this problem on the forum before - not experienced it myself.
  5. Hi, possibly an air lock when the cooling system was refilled.
  6. Hi Sacundai, welcome to the forum - I'm only a lowly Octavia owner, but I'm sure there are plenty of Superb owners qualified to answer any questions you might have
  7. My changeover to winters (Alpin5s) is going to be fairly soon - even though snow has been very rare around here for the past three winters, I can say that the extra grip available in the cold and wet conditions is noticeable. They don't appear to notice ice (black or otherwise)
  8. Hi Paul, If you don't want the inconvenience of changing wheels twice a year - and storage for the unused set, the compromise option of all-weather tyres may be best for you.
  9. Hi Michael, my Mums Charade didn't do 100mpg - mainly because I had the loud pedal pushed right into the carpet for most of 250 miles on one trip - I even had to get my sister to lie about the time I arrived because I didn't want mum to know how fast I'd been going in her pet. Ah, the good old days.
  10. For my two pence, I had a loan 1.0 Fabia when my Octavia was in for a warranty repair (engine auto-stop fault) To me, the 1.0 was like a bag of nails compared to the 1.4 - this may be down to the Fabia not being 'run in' yet, but it was like chalk and cheese between the two engines. As a comparison, I drove a 3-cyl. Daihatsu charade many moons ago - that was a rocket in comparison to the Fabia - and the Charade engine felt much more refined too.
  11. Hi Stu, I strongly recommend the 1.4 TSI, although this would mean a 2015-2016 model. From the comments I have seen (I've never driven a 1.5 TSI) I think the 1.4 is the better engine.
  12. Hi Dean, it would a good idea to 'use up' those old, I assume, summer tyres when you can - it evens-out the wear and will help prevent a good set of tyres going to waste when the date code exceeds the recommended period.
  13. Hi Beak, try Googling 'will they fit' - the calculator on that website will give you all the answers you need. The first thing you will need to match is the pitch-circle diameter (PCD) of the wheel bolts.
  14. Hello Dean, welcome to the forum. I hope it's not too cold up your way, feels like winter is on its way - soon be time to change to winter tyres.

  16. yeah - but this neat cap is a much more elegant solution, not expensive either.
  17. Did it look as if the 'greyed-out' area might have been some sort of military installation?
  18. Agreed, some of the suggestions are very like predictive spelling ones.
  19. Not sure that this change would do what you want - I suspect the taller front sidewalls will just induce more understeer.
  20. Two on mine, I'd be wary of fitting only one due to the possibility of twisting the hood. I have seen other posters considering fitting only one though. I know there's only a single prop on original fit - but that supports the front of the pretty heavy hood.
  21. H C ! those corner entry speeds scared me just watching - and he only got slightly offline once that I saw - instantly corrected. Do you know what the lap time was for that?
  22. +1 for the Febi Bilstein struts (350Nm). I removed the prop and keep it in the storage bay along with the roof bars.
  23. Hi again, just had a quick look at spec. for 1.5 TSI (2017 - ) it looks as if 5W - 30 is the correct spec. (VW 504/507) - I think 0W - 20 is for some of the larger-engined VRSs To be certain, take a look at the engine code label under the carpet near the spare-wheel well - on the label will be a 4 letter code for the engine - type this, along with fuel type and engine size, into any oil supplier website.
