  1. I used to cruise a Shetland 535 - with a 40HP 2-stroke on a single-axle trailer, I was pushing the 750kg limit. Hard.
  2. A way to assess tow hitch weight is to feel how heavy the tow-ball of the trailer is to lift off the ground with one hand - if you are able to do this easily, trailer hitch is almost certainly too light if stabiliser not being used. The tow vehicle rear tyre pressures should be raised at least .2 to .5 bar above normal pressures.
  3. No, a Micro-Hybrid - as yours presumably is.
  4. Another thought - if that RIB has a 100 HP outboard hanging on the stern, the rig could possibly be more than 750kg - what length is it - more than 6 metres?
  5. My maintenance of sealed batteries, especially on these micro-hybrids, consists of regular condition and SOC tests, check of terminal connections, combined with occasional recharging to full SOC. You should by now be aware that a micro-hybrids alternator will not charge the battery to 100% SOC, instead relying on energy recuperation to charge above 75-80% - especially with regular short trips - this can result in hard (non-reversable) sulfation of the plates, which will shorten battery life.
  6. It appears to be lightly clamped.
  7. How much weight do you have at the tow hitch? Do you use a hitch stabiliser?
  8. Hello CookieM, looking at mine, I'd say it's a brace to keep the top of the engine mount bracket vertical.
  9. Sidelights are not for driving, instrument lights are not required when not moving. Your instrument lighting is operating correctly.
  10. +1 for more induction noise - absolutely no gain apart from possible dust ingestion from inefficient air filtration.
  11. Hello Steve, are you sure about that cambelt being wet (belt in oil) type?
  12. Check the weight data plate on the lower part of the B pillar.
  13. Which seems to me to be a potential avoidable waste of valuable metal resources. I cannot be an exception if a modicum of battery maintenance is taken. - 9 year old Moll EFB, always use stop/start, frequent short trips, yet the battery still tests as in good condition with better than 80% health report
  14. Find a garage who can test each injector on rig to locate faulty one.
  15. Hello, welcome to the forum. Not completely definitive, but if your load plate has a total train weight substantially higher than the actual vehicle weight, yes it can.
  16. Hello, welcome to the forum. Just be aware that air locks can be a serious issue unless the system is properly bled. I chickened out and leave coolant changes to the garage for our EA211s.
  17. Your reference information may be incorrect - G13 coolant is actually Glycol based (mono ethylene Glycol) with 20% Glycerin.
  18. All information I've seen state that G12 and G13 are completely compatible.
  19. At least you now have that option - I use my stop/start all the time, estimating how long the halt is likely to be and disabling it if stop is likely to be less than 10 secs.
  20. Why reward them for their appalling behaviour? They certainly do not deserve even 4 stars after this. Given the evidence, they will have no choice but to fold and rectify the fault once the Ombudsman gets involved.
  21. Good afternoon, welcome to the forum. First - be extremely wary of replacements from any accident-damaged vehicle - seat belts are 'once only' devices and very likely may not prevent injury, or worse, if involved in another accident. Trim level will not affect model of belts fitted - belts from any Mk 1 should fit - but I cannot stress highly enough the importance of possible damage to the belt mechanism.
  22. Thanks Pete - do you have a source for that? A pity that roadside measured mile markers no longer appear to be a thing.
  23. Great that they were stupid enough to put it in print. Here's hoping for a quick and favourable resolution for you. I suspect they will have no option but to fold immediately the MO gets involved. This will be hugely more damaging to them than a slightly luke-warm review!
  24. Are you saying that your direction indicators AND HL flash are BOTH not working?
  25. Was this a Skoda Used Approved vehicle? Are you still within the rejection window? - I know what I'd do! Otherwise, quote the CRA to them. Once rectified or resolved, name & shame.
