  1. Hello, welcome to the forum. I'd suggest taking your vehicle to a VAG independent garage for servicing. My MY16 Octavia oil service and coolant change (I supplied fluids) cost me £146.00, inc. vat last month.
  2. It took a fair bit of searching - but the information I found suggests that the 2017 vRS 230 has a cam chain, not belt.
  3. Are you sure your engine has a belt, not chain - what is your engine code? Depending on the circumstances when the chain or belt let go, you most likely will get away with a top end rebuild provided the piston tops have not been too badly damaged.
  4. Was the replacement battery you fitted exactly the same type and capacity as the original?
  5. Hmmmm, more BS 101.
  6. Hello, welcome to the forum. Considering the vehicle is not in motion, I suspect the ASR fault report may be a red herring. I suggest getting a check done for any fault codes.
  7. Hello, welcome to the forum. It depends on your annual mileage and whether your vehicle is on fixed or flexible service plan. If your annual mileage is Low (much less than 10K per year) it is normally recommended to change oil annually - (fixed)
  8. Unless an injector has failed, resulting in uncontrolled fuel supply to engine, the most likely cause is as Paws4 says.
  9. The corrosion inhibiters included in the coolant do have a finite life, I think VAG advises coolant change at 5 years.
  10. Hello, welcome to the forum. You say the oil level is 'fine' - are you certain that it's not lower than when you last checked, before this runaway event? Had you recently topped up oil before this happened?
  11. Hello, there will be no issue with infotainment coding when replacing the battery. You do need to adapt (code) the new battery into the vehicles system - especially if you change from EFB to AGM type. You may be ok if only replacing exactly like for like - but it is always better to get the replacement battery adapted, this will require access to VCDS tool.
  12. Hello, welcome to the forum. I believe your unit is Amundsen MIB2.
  13. Found from other VAG site search - EPC error lamp lit while 4K RPM limit is displayed, fault could be caused by oil pressor sensor fault, or coolant issue. Suggest taking a look for DTC error codes.
  14. I did a search on some Audi and VW sites - Is your EPC fault light lit on the instrument panel? Is there any indication of high coolant temperature?
  15. Hello, not sure that's limp mode - I thought limp mode revs were considerably lower than that.
  16. I think that even with the TB rear suspension, there is some, limited alignment possible (camber?) - but nothing like as much as the IRS.
  17. Hello snuffy, welcome to the forum. The leak will almost certainly be from the recent repair.
  18. The 1.4/1.5 has torsion bar rear suspension, VRS has full IRS.
  19. I'm wondering if that epoxy repair is actually hiding a crack in the casing suffered when the fin was broken off.
  20. Or a little too much negative camber on the affected wheel?
  21. They shouldn't charge you for giving confirmation that the battery was installed correctly - but it is quite possible that they do not know unless they plug a code reader into the vehicle to check - IMO, they should not charge for this either, but they might.
  22. You may be able to get a reasonable charge from a long run, but it would probably need to be at least several hours and it is very dependant on the condition of the battery. You can get a digital voltage meter that plugs into the 12 volt socket by the hand brake, which will give you some indication of the alternator output. Cheap on Amazon.
  23. You need to have access to a battery charger - preferably one of the modern 'smart' chargers. The battery can be charged while it is still fitted to the vehicle, but it is important to attach the negative charger lead to the correct tag which is located on the engine compartment firewall.
  24. That could be an indication - by the battery voltage dropping very low during start - it can also cause lots of spurious fault indications to light up on the instrument panel. Have you noticed the idle stop-start not working recently?
  25. If the dealer says the battery was replaced in 2021, request confirmation from them that it was correctly adapted (coded) into the vehicles monitoring system. Also get the alternator output tested.
