Long list of fault codes detected
Also strongly suggest that you get the battery tested.

When to replace battery?
With mostly short trips, the smart alternator control unit limiting battery SOC to around 75% max. can become an issue - you don't normally get sufficient energy recuperation to maintain a decent SOC. To prevent excessive hard sulphation and ensure a reasonable battery lifespan, an occasional recharge or longer run should be considered.

Engine dies when horn used
Post deleted as already answered.

Rear vents - no air flow
Assuming that you have had the Kamiq from new, this pipe was never fitted?

Should I put them "in the bin"?
What is the tread depth over 75% of tyre? Is the scrubbing on the inside edge? if depth getting close to 3mm, I'd say replace for confidence.

Engine dies when horn used
Does the horn sound normal (or at all) when operated?

multiple warnings lights
When you consider that micro processors control practically every single item in a modern vehicle, it's not surprising that spurious faults can get displayed when supply voltages start to drift.

Loose bolts on camshaft pulley cover, rattling engine
If engine is now thought to be not running as well as previously, it is very possible that the belt has 'jumped' a notch on the pulley - the lost bolt could well have fallen between the belt and pulley when it was displaced. It also sounds as if the tensioner has failed. These issues need to be checked immediately before any further damage occurs.

Scorched discs?
Possibly some binding on the front brake pads/calliper's? Have you checked front hubs for excess heat after a drive?

Tell me about your fabia 1.0 litre as my sister is interested in buying one.
OP was asking about 1.0 TSI.

Tell me about your fabia 1.0 litre as my sister is interested in buying one.
@Ootohere - As from my profile, my TSI Octavia.

My Skoda Fabia 2010 VRS is getting sluggish in the hills.
I'm wondering if your terminology is correct - you say the vehicle 'becomes sluggish when going uphill because the DSG shifts down too quickly" - Do you really mean that the DSG does not shift-down quickly enough?

+1 for the 110, not as silky smooth as the 1.4 but a very willing engine. The 6-speed box on the manual version is a bonus.

Road bump thuds and brake noise
Had only one been left in? It beggars belief that this block has been in place for 4 years!

Amundsen MIB2 Firmware Update
@pab567 A question about wife's 2018 Fabia (MY17) it has what I assume is Bolero MIB2 (device 5Q0035842C, HW. H41; SW. 0468.) - is navigation from iPhone only displayed on MIB if connected via USB - or is it possible to connect wirelessly?

Sacked by my dealer...for complaining about poor service!
That sounds as if they cannot now be trusted - unacceptable that they 'missed' the control unit fault report when they were diagnosing other issues.

Long motorway journey - losing coolant, no cabin heat, rad fans on, temp guage low!?
Rather surprised that a probably overheating engine was indicating low coolant temperature - suggests that temp sensors may not be located in ideal position.

Steering wheel radio control
To avoid any misinterpretation, don't use graphite powder near anything electrical! - it's electrically conductive. Great in locks, but for switches, use a dedicated switch contact cleaner or isopropanol only.

Long motorway journey - losing coolant, no cabin heat, rad fans on, temp guage low!?
During this long motorway run, what was the oil temperature showing while the coolant gauge was displaying low? Was the coolant level correct before starting the trip?

Power steering fluid location
Pretty sure the Mk3 Fabia power steering is electrically assisted only - no hydraulic operation. To confirm, Google the specifications for your vehicle.

Replacing the alternator (Generator?) in a Fabia
The slipring you say was darker than the other possibly indicates that the associated brush was not making proper contact - there does look to be a considerable amount of wear on both sliprings too. I'd suggest that the old carbon brushes are unserviceable.

Main screen doesn't work
Hello, welcome to the forum. I'm pretty sure these infotainment systems are coded to the vehicle - assuming the replacement unit is functional, I believe that at the very least you will need to get this done.
