the truth about electric cars
If you are speaking about the one in the Andes then you have fallen for the hyperbole, oxygen would not have been needed only gradual acclimatisation, they dont do anything without a massive support crew including medical personnel because of the great numbers involved, they would likely have carried oxygen. I remember arriving at Quito by bus and walking to my hostel carrying both backpacks, it was relatively steep but I would normally have got up there at a good lick, I enjoy hill climbing, I had to stop for a rest every 50 metres, 2 weeks later after acclimatising at higher altitude on my return I ran up there with my backpack.

Climatic knob adjustment and temperature regulation
Looking at your photo I see that your knob has markings for temperature, mine doesnt, just red and blue hot and cold icons.

Climatic knob adjustment and temperature regulation
I had Climatronic on the last 2 vehicles and have the cheaper Climatic on this one, I don't believe it regulates the cabin temperature like the Climatronic one does and that the temperature control is no more than a heat output setting like on an old school heater with a water control valve, as such for a given setting the temperature goes up and down dependant on engine coolant temperature, outside temperature and wind chill. I always have to tweak it up and down on a journey in the same way that I used to have to on older vehicles. The above is simply my belief from experience, it could be designed to regulate the temperature in which case it either does a poor job compared to the Climatronic or mine has a fault like yours. I know from having replaced the dashboard that it lacks many of the temperature sensors that the Climatronic system has.

The vehicle has a current MOT certificate which will expire in February, until then he is perfectly entitled to drive it. Let me give you two scenarios and you can ask yourself would you stop driving. Your vehicle brings up a MIL light and you have the fault codes read by a mechanic, they show that the oxygen sensor is showing an over-rich non Lambda compensated mixture, do you abandon the car there? You put your car up for sale with 6 months MOT remaining, I offer to buy it if you put it through another test and get a new certificate, it fails on emissions you choose not to have the problem repaired (too expensive) I decide not to buy the car, do you stop driving it?

Heater flap reset
Ah the cow expiring its terminal breath noise, that brings back memories! 😃 I knew it was the vacuum releasing and never took it any further as all the vacuum operated systems worked fine, it was just part of the character of the vehicle.

Grinding noise when driving
If it graunches and screeches when you brake, a kind of noise that sets your teeth on edge then you have worn a brake pad through to the backing, if not then it sounds like one of the Bacofoil disc backplates has broken away from its mounting lugs. I"m surprised your backplates have lasted 13 years, its usually far sooner than that but maybe you live well away from coastal areas or they have already been replaced once.

Charge cooler
ESC, is that the stability/traction control button? Its too late and cold to go out and try at present.

Charge cooler
What is the "esc" please? I initially got a UK MOT to be able to legally drive the vehicle from the UK to reregister in France during the Covid pandemic, the tester is a good friend I have known for over 30 years, the emissions test was not done and he wrote on the certificate could not be tested as not able to rev high enough, he is a very knowledgeable petrolhead so if anyone would know how to overcome it he should have. It has the emissions test in the French CT test but at lower figures commensurate with the 2.5K rpm rev limit?

UK - Passenger side wiper arm location
Are they a tapered spline perhaps, I have only ever loosened them, broken the taper and then rotated them to the desired position, I have never had to pull them off of the splines like previous generations with parallel shafts.

Can we really trust any car manufacturer to be honest these days?
I asked after him and another (then) absent poster at the time (I was concerned it might be medical problems as he had mentioned dialysis) and Root suggested that a new user was the same person so unlike the other he was not absent at all. The profile, location and above all the frequent public blocking of other contributors confirmed to me that Root was correct.

UK - Passenger side wiper arm location
It does to me, the OP is saying exactly the same but then deducing from it that the arm is out by several splines (it's not splined!) which does not make sense.

Switch off cigarette ligther 12v when car closed
It does, I checked and there was no possibility of an either/or placement of any of the fuses. On the pictogram I could see a fuse for the cigarette lighter and there was another icon that did not mean anything to me but had 12v written on it, maybe that is the rear socket? If ever I have to remove the fuseboard I might do some recabling if it is a dedicated fuse.

UK - Passenger side wiper arm location
There is a contradiction between the two statements, if you are saying that its park position on the Auto Wiper setting is different to its parked position when switched off perhaps you had not noticed the difference before? Just move it where you like it, then move it again if it clashes with anything on full speed with a wet screen.

There are worst things happening in the world to be concerned about right now than that. People are frequently locked out of forums through password issues and end up creating a new user ID.

Breakdown due to bad gearbox oil service by authorised dealer
There was no recovery, it sounds like the OP joined the AA in order to call them out to look at the flapping undertray. I have never understood this practice of join us after you have a breakdown and we will come out, its immoral in my book, there is probably a better word but my English is poor now. Another reason for my decision in the end to avoid all insurances etc aside from those legally required, I do my best to avoid breakdowns and dont like paying for the feckless to abuse a system especially when the companies encourage it. It was the Green Flag advert a take off of the Italian Job showing the ditzy blonde painting her nails while creating gridlock while Green Flag came to the rescue that really set me off and made me cancel my membership, it pushed all my buttons at once!!!

Switch off cigarette ligther 12v when car closed
Now I know what to look for (Thanks Pete!) I will check mine before driving this afternoon.

Genuine oil or equivalent
There is no such animal.

Help with weird noise.
Why are you continuing to drown the poor OP in irrelevancies like the colour of his brake fluid and engine coolant and how to check tyre tread depth amongst myriad others?

👋 How to cut power to the cigarette lighter when the car turns off?
You speak of lighter circuits, does this apply to the accessory socket in the luggage area? IE are both on the same fused circuit? This would have been a better solution to the increased standby battery drain from my towing relay powered from the boot socket than the switch I installed which has brought problems of its own. Your explanation was an excellent one by the way, I had read of this before, about a lower fuse position but your mention of "halfway down" and the description of the two supply circuits made it all make sense 💡

Charge cooler
Turbo vanes and/or actuator sticking, Mr Muscle enema prescribed. Start with the simple mechanical before chasing shadows. If you have VCDS you can check the commanded versus measured values. You have not explained what your emissions problems are, you have gone straight into how do I clean my charge cooler because a VAG mechanic said I should and are now repeating injector work which you did not explain the reason for doing.

Skoda Fabia abs pump problems
Nice brief and concise video without a single "HI Guys!" or "Yo Wassup!" How they all should be IMO, the other narcissists would string that out to 30 minutes. I admire the way these guys can work with one hand and hold the phone in the other while zooming in and out etc, I cant even manage the latter with two hands

2009 Octavia 2.0L Estate sitting low at the rear
I fitted the rough road package springs but it did raise the rear ride height meaning I had to use a drop plate on the towball for most of my trailers. I do a lot of towing of very heavy trailers so it was right for me, the standard springs are very soft, the same as used on the Golf, not suited to 4 passengers (did you really have 5?) and luggage or carrying heavy loads.

👋 How to cut power to the cigarette lighter when the car turns off?
Use a relay, very simple to achieve what you require.

Can we really trust any car manufacturer to be honest these days?
It was a nickname that I gave to our Ken while the original was still alive, I had forgotten that our one had changed his username, in fact it was you who told me, he will always be Ken Block to me all the time he continues taking pleasure from publicly blocking people then reinstating them so he can do it again. I realise now that my post will have made even less sense given the change of username.

Can we really trust any car manufacturer to be honest these days?
The first day of the year, a working day like any other for me, I was talking to myself in my mind as I do when working and pondered I bet we don't make it to the end of January before the incarnation of the late Ken Block has publicly blocked another contributor, looks like it may not even take 24 hours!
