What’s your take on this Superb?
I really wouldn’t be worried about DPF, I only use my car on weekends and is a 2016 and just over 41k miles with an average of 3k a year. Sometimes the DPF does a regen and all I do is continue driving for longer than needed (nice one EU) until it stops Regarding the car it looks good apart from the uncared for leather, it shouldn’t be shiney! And the drivers bulster looks grim, so if you buy get Gliptone leather cleaner and conditioner, plus it smells lovely I’m surprised at the cost is so high for that mileage, makes me think my cars worth a lot more than I thought 😁

What have you done to your Superb III today?
What’s the part number of the new header tank please?

What have you done to your Superb III today?
Yes that sounds right, I know Skoda now no longer say to change the cambelt every 5 years or X miles, it’s just mileage now. But I wonder if it should have been Cambelt every 120k miles or whatever it is and include change coolant every 5 years

The problem that I see is removing the header tank and replacing it with a non silikat version is now your coolant has no silicone going through the system, which will lead to corrosion. Isn’t it better to have the header tank changed whilst having the cambelt and water pump done, along with whatever the correct coolant is these days?

Front wheel arch liner foam
Update SEL from 2016 doesn’t have these so got them ordered in and will fit in summer time They’re a lot thinner than I thought so should have just wrapped up a pitta bread and put them in there instead

UK - Passenger side wiper arm location
Thanks for checking, I did insist with AutoGlass that a genuine screen must go in which eventually did after two people turning up with non genuine. I guess it’s always been like that, just one of those things once seen cannot be unseen 😮

Does yours sit that high as in normally 3” gap when off? If so then it must be correct but can’t help but think I would have seen the wiper blade as much as I do now in the last 4 years or so

UK - Passenger side wiper arm location
I’ve not had mine off but my old Passat was a spine so thought it would be of similar design. Does it just sit around something and get tightened by the nut alone? If so I guess I should be able to undo the nut and move down and retighten without having to take the arm off

That’s it but mine was never that visible before

UK - Passenger side wiper arm location
What I meant by the ready position is it parks up higher than where it does when the cars off Kind of like when the cars off it sits in position A, when it’s raining and then stops the wiper arm sits in position B, turn the car off and it goes from position B to A I think it’s out a few splines but as it’s usually a pain to remove it would be good to only do it the once

UK - Passenger side wiper arm location
Hello, not too long ago I had my windscreen replaced and it’s evident my passenger wiper arm isn’t in exactly the same position as it was. When I’m driving and got auto wipers on and it returns to the ready position (but not full seated like it’s turned off) I can see the blade against the windscreen and is annoying I I looked at Elsawin and it’s really not clear on where it should be 😞 Can someone pleasure measure the distance between their wiper blade and the top of the plastic scuttle please? Here’s a picture of mine, Elsawin said something about +-4mm and might be talking about the bit I’ve circled in red but not sure thanks

Shuddering and vibration from 50 mph
Hmm if they’ve refused repair means they are an honest garage because you won’t be paying them as no incentive for them to lie

MySkoda App Honk & Flash
I don’t believe this app has ever worked for anyone, I believe you also need a subscription for some of these things
-
L&K Options
look for the section which lists the versions of the Škoda superb brochures and it’ll start with the lowest and say what’s standard, then keep scrolling down until you get to l&k

1.8 TSI noise?
Not too sure but I’d recommend getting one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/NEILSEN-TOOLS-Mechanics-Stethoscope-Traditional/dp/B005S0E23S/ref=asc_df_B005S0E23S/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310705025920&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15132353277939880943&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9045795&hvtargid=pla-465466276547&psc=1&mcid=3f5b5543a001319da17a3435a7505107 buy one in your own country though, then remove the engine cover and panel under the engine and get someone to gentle rev in whilst you’re prodding around with that and see if you can pinpoint the area Have a look for something like “Škoda fuel line rattle” and “vw fuel line rattle” although it’s mostly at the rear I believe the sound travels down to the front of the car

Shuddering and vibration from 50 mph
Have a look at the vega wheels on the accessory brochure, usually much cheaper if you rang your local Škoda dealership and asked them for the price

Superb MK3 Rear Brakes
Watch this, by far the best video I’ve seen and is explaining things nice and clearly even though it is for an Audi it’s essentially same process

Very high oil temperatures
Usual I’m sure, put the maxidot to something else and forget about it. I’m guessing sure you’ve seen no symptoms of anything whatsoever?

Battery cold climates
I have a routine in my car, start it then say “turn that fu&@“?! off” and press the stop/start button. Then if I’m in properly standstill traffic I say something expletive and turn it back on

Quick question - Brand new Superb SE L
I’m sure I heard they’ve been scrimping on things and probably an optional extra these days. They’re not expensive if you want them, but as they’ve not expensive why don’t they just include them

Battery cold climates
I believe 68ah is standard, just noticed where you live and quite surprised it’s the same

White noise from rear passenger side tweeter
It’s not that silly microphone boost for rear passengers is it? I think normally you can hear an echo but worth disabling it, but don’t know what it’s called as mine doesn’t have it

Caliper upgrades
I can tell you something that’s cheaper, slow down 😂 Brembo discs are good but I’ve not long put ATE ceramic pads on my wives fiat 500, wow what a difference, I was hesitant at first after reading brake feel isn’t the same and you don’t get so much initial bite but had the complete opposite. I’ll be using them on my superb when the fronts are due along with brembo discs as I like the painted hubs, I’ve got them on my rears but with Škoda pads as I got them to fit it.
