  1. Ok, I can't definitely confirm this myself without a test drive (and I live near Glasgow) but this is sounding a lot like a misaligned thrust bearing.
  2. Ignoring the bit where I do not trust anything a main stealer tells me, I have been in other cars where I have adjusted the height of the FPS. Enough said?
  3. I've found Rain-X anti-fog quite good. Ok, it doesn't prevent interior fogging, but does reduce density and persistence.
  4. I think that your present mechanic's wallet is directly connected to the amount of labour he does, and not to the amount you spend out of parts.
  5. OK. So why do you think you need an entire gearbox rather than just a sensor?
  6. As @nta16 says above. Take for instance, the Ford Escort, which went through 5 marks, the same number of basic shells, and from mark 2 to mark 3 changed from in-line front engine rear wheel drive to transverse front engine front wheel drive.
  7. Can we confirm, this is a manual gearbox and conventional clutch (single or dual mass flywheel) and not some form of DSG? If so, I have a possible fault, which a decent mechanic should be able to confirm.
  8. A quick count says that you have made 4 posts, all in this thread, and none of them have a video link.
  9. I've published the full version several times, but the summary is "seats are personal and subjective".
  10. The trouble with this "new law" (I don't know the associated statute) is that the usual view is "if you have stopped then you have ceded priority" irrespective of any individual statute.
  11. And you can't always get a "free" charge on a ferry, even on a long trip to the Outer Hebrides (3 to 7 hours).
  12. There I would disagree with you; the speed sensors are the common factors used by all your cited systems.
  13. Koni, Sachs, Leda, Gaz...
  14. See Breezy-Pete's comment quoted above. You won't be able to set variable service without an oil level/temp sensor! Clear?
  15. A mate of mine had a Range Rover. The BSWS on it once made a point of warning him that he was being overtaken by (or overtaking) various bits of farm machinery at a dealership he was visiting!
  16. What is "comfortable to you" is subjective. Personal account:- A mate and I both had several Citroen BXs each and found them very comfortable. We both tried Xantias as replacements, and he found them uncomfortable to drive for an hour: I found mine very comfortable, including driving from Weymouth to Dumbarton leaving at 9AM, having a shower, and going out for dinner followed by drinks, getting back here about midnight.
  17. The exhaust won't help. That said, VAG hydraulic tappets are always noisier if the engine is cold and an oil change is due.
  18. I had the PAS belt on my Octy break, and it was like having total arm failure!
  19. Lack of fault codes doesn't help, but I'd normally suspect spark plug(s) and/or coil pack(s) on a petrol, and with this engine maybe burnt exhaust valves, so a compression test...
  20. Might be nice to actually know which engine this is.
  21. This is how the interior monitoring disable function is supposed to work.
  22. @imart143 - All hydrocarbon engines are designed to run on 2 chemicals; a design hydrocarbon and diatomic oxygen. The outputs from this process should be CO2 and H2O. Given this information, explain, IF YOU CAN, how Exhaust Gas Recycling actually improves this process. I may not presently remember enough chemistry to write an explanation, but I certainly remember enough to distinguish an actual explanation from the emotive male bovine faeces you've been spouting so far.
  23. ... and check the PAS fluid level when the battery is out.
  24. Change fitter for one who is competent to use diagnostic software to identify which injector(s) are faulty.
  25. Certainly. Unless your vehicle actually tells you tyre pressures in each wheel, it doesn't have direct TPMS, so there are no sensors to swap.
