  1. Too early to be called conclusive but encouraging early data from Wales https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/wales-20mph-speed-limit-working-27779212?fbclid=IwAR30LHT25LonVPwjkJk_lzP_89bnTJ-l3EmyJGWsc0bxLGWrQ-y5dlYsYCI Just to clarify; there is no 'blanket ban' on 30mph areas. It's absolute horse kaka from Sunak. Same spin he threw out the other day about no meat taxes. He was just making things up and claiming to scrap policies that weren't even policies nor planned to be. Now he's claiming he'll end the 'war on motorists'. IMO, this is electioneering spin so maybe make sure you're registered to vote.
  2. @Graham Butcher Colin from Portsmouth is a parody of people who say things like 'what next, people with red flags walking in front of motor cars'. Graham, no. People won't be walking in front of motor cars with red flags. Don't be so daft.
  3. No. Are you Colin from Portsmouth?
  4. I'd agree if there was a 'blanket 20mph' but there isn't. Even Sunak had to lie about it. No great shocker there mind. hewitson10_720p_20230930_020042.mp4
  5. WD-40 is a water displacement product made of various chemicals including light oils and paraffin. As we all know, oils and fats congeal over time. More so in colder climes. That's why it's far better to use the other products mentioned above when dealing with a frozen door lock. That said, we had -18Β°C here a couple of years ago and my Rapid opened first push of the remote fob. No products necessary. With all that said, what can you even do with WD-40 other than squirt a bit in the keyhole which isn't even where the actual locking mechanism is? Even using the straw through the gap in the door would be almost pointless IMO.
  6. I've only started reading this topic in the past few months and didn't start at the beginning. It's 72 pages long now and you know what? I still don't know what the truth about electric cars is other than they don't use an internal combustion engine (Hybrid excluded)
  7. Only if it's a Fiat Coupe 20 valve turbo which actually beat a Ferrari 348. I doubt a Fiat Dupla could be classed as a Fiat in affordable trim.
  8. An outdated trope IMO. Same as the old tropes about Skoda being skips or having heated rear screens to keep your hands warm.
  9. Electric scooters only have two wheels an China's been pumping those out like no one's business. Are they included in the figures distorting them? Perhaps keep numbers to EV mortorcycles, cars, RVs, SUVs and anything HGV chassied such as buses, HGV's, etc?
  10. There's an inherent risk in drinking too much water or breathing too much oxygen. Life's a gamble full of risks. You could get hit by a bus tomorrow. Buy an EV or don't up to you. Nobody's forcing you to. Or do buy one and take a gamble. Or buy a Zafira or a MkVI Golf and take another gamble. I hope you've got smoke alarms fitted everywhere.
  11. God this whole EV fire crap is getting boring. Find a hobby to fill your time rather than wasting your life on it. I can recommend Astrophotography πŸ‘
  12. A couple of Astro shots from last night. These are just single shot pics with a little touch up in the Windows native editor. I was hoping to get about 45 minutes worth of shots on Andromeda at 30" each to stack but there was dew building up on the lens so it wasn't possible. Dew heater now on order from Bezos. Canon Eos 250D with a Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 III lens held in place at 135mm using a Skywatcher Star Adventurer GTi tracking mount. Looking towards the north American nebula Andromeda galaxy North Amarican nebula direction again.
  13. Yes, @toot it was a tongue in cheek reference to Sabine's comment in that TG episode
  14. Ten minutes. Ha! I could do zat in a van.
  15. A moot point considering this topic isn't called the truth about ICE cars and coasting. Is it even possible to coast in an EV? I thought not.
  16. Doesn't matter what the EU does or does not do. That's nothing to do with the UK now it's shot itself in the foot. This is about the tories breaking yet another manifesto commitment The US and EU are spending trillions of dollars and euros and going great guns. Even the world's biggest polluter China is making big advancements. The UK is becoming the sick man of Europe again.
  17. From 2020. UK sets ambitious new climate target ahead of UN Summit "The Prime Minister has today (Friday 4 December) announced a new ambitious target to reduce the UK’s emissions by at least 68% by 2030, compared to 1990 levels." https://www.gov.uk/government/news/uk-sets-ambitious-new-climate-target-ahead-of-un-summit
  18. It was a tory party pledge in their manifesto no matter who said it. Boris was all for ULEZ as well until someone else continued with it. He was all for the EU as well at one point. It's hard to believe a word they say. If they told me today is a Wednesday I'd have get confirmation from a reliable source
  19. It makes a mockery of what they said in 2019 and what they were voted in on "We will lead the global fight against climate change by delivering on our world-leading target of Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, as advised by the independent Committee on Climate Change". I think the car industry will dictate what vehicles are for sale in the UK. Maybe import some new old stock even that's been sat in a field somewhere for a couple of years. All announced in what amounted to a party political broadcast before mentioning it in Parliament as is convention and after Parliament has risen for a two week jolly. Apparently Lindsey Hoyle is livid.
  20. No need to rush to electric vehicles then. The tories have decided they're going to turn the UK into the dirty man of Europe.
  21. Nice of Rishi to **** off a global business such as Ford. https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/ford-uk-says-any-delay-on-government-petrol-car-ban-risks-ev-transition
  22. I have no need anymore for my UK prime account but I have dozens (100s) of movies and TV series I have bought in the My Stuff section. Whilst I believe these will still be available to me as a non Prime member, is there a way to download them and store them on a local media storage device be that external SSD or even Blu-rayβ„’?
  23. In this section https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/90-skoda-favorit-skoda-felicia-skoda-fun-and-skoda-forman/
  24. I'm aware of that which is why I said maybe it's the Essex boys popping to the east of London πŸ™„
