  1. Doors not opening from the outside after 'intervention' can be simply down to the little 'stepped peg' that links handle to lock going back in the wrong position. I'll add a photo later if it's not obvious what I'm referring to.
  2. Too late for me to untangle all that info, but this was my recent experience:
  3. Try unlocking the car then just open the front passenger door, see if it re-locks after a short time as if you hadn't opened any doors. Repeat for each rear door in turn if the car passes that test. If it does re-lock, the door open switch on that door isn't working reliably. On our Fabia, the fault was a solder joint rather than the microswitch, but you may as well change any that you visit, as well as checking solder joints very carefully. Both the re-locking fault and the random locking/unlocking whilst on the move have been resolved since that joint was fixed.

  5. Try nemigaparts.com as an alternative
  6. Looks like a misleading listing title.
  7. Haha, the logo on that with the drop as the o and the fact that I haven't got my reading glasses on made me read that as "Tap Water" at first glance. And why doesn't it seem to say anything about 504 00/507 00 on the bottle?
  8. Amazon branded not as cheap as I'd've expected:
  9. Twice, just to be sure.
  10. The 1.2 engines really don't take much starting (or shouldn't when healthy), so more or less any battery you can buy will probably be OK for the remaining life of the car. Are you sure it's not just a loose connection at/near the battery?
  11. Thanks for taking the time to give such a full and interesting answer. It's no wonder that lots of oils aren't put through the approval process.
  12. I guess the 8v filter lacks that feature then? So Skoda's general instructions couldn't specify a torque.
  13. It's the standard genuine filter for the 16-valve petrols.
  14. As you seem quite interested in oils, if you create a login here: https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/erwin/showHome.do you can then access lists of oils that are formally approved to the various VAG standards. (Link towards the bottom right of homepage) Many other oils not on these lists can and do claim that they 'meet or exceed' the standards, but only those on the relevant list, VAG have checked and agree that they do. That's not say that these other oils aren't as good, just that they haven't paid for and been granted approved status. @weasley may have some insight into how the approval process actually works?
  15. I'm not sure it's quite what you were hoping for but this site will tell you when (the date) any given part number was superseded, and what the superseding part number is. https://oemwolf.com/ Delete all spaces from the number before entering, then hit 'Find it'. Don't be surprised if some parts show a long sequence of revisions. I don't know of a way to go backwards unfortunately, from a current part number backwards in time through previous versions. I think proper paid-for ETKA can do this.
  16. As I remembered: But when you think about, it's more in the interests of MHO that these filters never come undone accidentally/unintentionally than it is to make things easier for the technician/person who has to remove them at the end of their life. So it makes sense for them to err on the side of tight, but known tightness.
  17. In theory, the oil temp monitoring is looking after that for you if on variable servicing? In practice, I wouldn't be confident in it.
  18. Lucky I don't fancy shooting. Cos I just couldn't bring myself to wear stuff like that.
  19. Not seen that word before, but I like it. Possibly safer sounding than Psychodiversity?
  20. Does this help? https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/octavia/oct/2010-663/1/145-145075/
  21. Appreciated, but I am vey Aspergersish. Funnily enough I was just trying to find a picture of a genuine filter with the 20Nm on it, and failed thus far. Wonder if I made that up?! I've got one at home I'll look at this evening which should confirm my insanity or otherwise.
  22. Translated: When the vehicle is on the slope, it is very difficult to take off on the first start. When you press the gas at idle, the rev counter goes up half a second late
