How to update Skoda Octavia Mk3 module
See my posting about upgrading the MIB2.5 system. Briskoda nor anybody on here canny post anything publicly. There are people on here who can give you firmware updates but it is all very behind the scenes (and has to remain that way).

Towing weight
I'm fairly sure this is more to do with the braking ability more than the car's ability to haul the weight. Towing does put extra stress on the car; TDIs are good haulers (even though you need the larger rad upgrade on TDI150 engines). Definitely as stated above...more planning reqd and mechanical sympathy needed when towing.

Middle seat belt in the back jammed on 17 estate
For something as safety critical as a seatbelt, don't use second hand parts. Get a new unit. Assume it's the recoil mechanism that has jammed. Try some WD40 to see if you can free it first though.

P0673 Fault Code - Cylinder 3 Glow Plug Replacement
Yes, the glow plug on cylinder 3 is a special unit, but try to replace all of them at the same time as they will all be of a similar age and needing to be replaced.

Skoda fault code P16C100:
High mileage car, but camshaft position sensor failure or out of spec calibration issues are not unheard of. Try to use a new VAG sensor if possible. Having not owned a 1.6tdi for a while, I canny remember if it is an easy or hard job to get access to, but as the cam is relatively easily accessible, I canny see it being an issue.

Battery (1 year old) keeps going flat
You are right - generally those with auto-stop/start and AGM batteries needed to coding; but it was at that time to VAG required people to start coding in their batteries. If an older style battery and no auto-stop/start, then no coding needed.

Battery (1 year old) keeps going flat
1) Check battery has been coded in. All VAG vehicles post 2013 needed this doing. 2) You need to get an amp-clamp meter. Try latching the bonnet and locking the car. Amp-clamp the battery and try and find out if the car goes to sleep. It shouldn't draw anything more than 15-20mA when asleep. 3) Do a CCA test on the battery. This will determine if you have a weak battery due to failing internals. Try doing this after charging it up with a charger. CCA value will be on the battery.

2016 Octavia 4x4
So many questions: 1) Dual Mass Flywheel are okay as long as you don't abuse them too much. 2) You need a HALDEX fluid and filter change on the rear diff - do this every 20k to make sure the 4x4 functionality works. 3) DPF - if the car has done long fast journeys, you are all good. They need a long fast high RPM journey to re-gen. 4) Wheel bearings - yes...probably, but no worse than any other car. 5) Shocks - if they aren't kept clean, you will cause the seal to weep and fail. Always worth cleaning under the wheel arches with a hosepipe when you clean the car to get rid of the crud. 6) Hitch - yes, but try and get a genuine OEM one if possible. 7) Manual - you can find that on the Skoda ErWIN site.

Heating anomaly
oh goodness - I hope this wasn't the silicon from the coolant expansion tank that has burst. That would block up your heater matrix and its an arse to take out and clean it up.

Random Errors on dash and AC/Radio sporadically not working
BCM's can be temperamental. Several areas of investigation. 1) Get a wiring diagram from ErWin (Skoda) - google Skoda Erwin if you need assistance for that. 2) It could be a dodgy earth for the BCM. 3) It could be a wiring fault on the High Speed or Low Speed CANBUS. Try moving the cabling around a bit to see if that fixes or breaks it. 4) The BCM could be screwed (in which case, replacement reqd and it need to be coded in by ODIS).

Octavia 1.4 TSI "bit lumpy" on tick over when warm
That looks like a misfire to me. You can hear the misfire, the ticking and whole engine shifting around is a giveaway. Caused probably by a failing coilpack when hot. Look at the misfire counters on ODBC / VCDS / ODBEleven will give the game away. Suggest replacing plugs and coilpacks at the same time.

P256300 fault Waste Gate position
Good old TSI engines. Gotta love 'em. Yes, the turbo vanes get stuck and the car will go in limp-home/fail-safe mode. Solutions: 1) Work the vanes on the actuator, open and closed by hand. 2) Take the car on an Italian Tune-up....VW products don't appreciate being driven lightly. 3) Its about a £300-400 if you need to get the vanes replaced.

Clutch pedal sticking
This will be a master or slave cylinder becoming compromised. This is what happens. Especially if you haven't used the car for a while anyway. If you have, then fluid is escaping past the seal between the main and boost circuits. Also check your clutch/brake fluid reservoir to make sure you aren't low on DOT4/5.1.

Rear window defrost
If there is an issue, it will throw a code. Can you get a code scan done?

My DSG gearbox seems playing up..
okay - a DQ200 box. DSG are actually manual gearboxes with two clutch packs. If you are experiencing issues with gears 1,3,5 or 2,4,6 and juddering on one of the clutchpacks, then you probably have a worn clutch pack. However, it is suspicious that the issue only happened after the Mech unit was replaced. There are some lessons here about how you drive those boxes. Firstly, never leave the car in drive, if you are at a standstill; always knock it into neutral. The gearbox should disengage the clutch, but if your fluid is low in the gearbox, then this will cause wear on the clutchpack and potentially cause problems. The DQ200 boxes can be troublesome; not always, but were really only designed to work with lower engine capacities. I always thought the 1.4 and 1.5 engines with those boxes - was never a great idea....my personal opinion. They are also 'sealed for life' boxes (i.e. you cannot easily top up the fluids or service them as easily as the DQ250 or DQ381 boxes). Its worth finding a gearbox specialist: However, in the meantime, to show you that this is a known issue, have a look at: https://www.eco-torque.co.uk/post/vw-dsg-7-speed-dsg-gearbox-problems The Mechantonic unit....we don't know how it was configured or even setup properly. Does it have the latest firmware on it? I hope you get the issue resolved soon.

I'm Back....now with added Octavia L&K and Golf'ness
Hello Peeps, I've been away for a bit. When I sold my Scout last year, I was extremely sad. Loved that car, but I was working from home - it would have killed that car dead running 5 miles here and there. Circumstances have changed and I needed new wheels. I've found a LOVELY fully spec'd finally last gasp Octavia MK3.5 L&K in White that I am picking up next week (collection caper alert). In the meantime, the family run-around went from a 2017 Fabia to a 2020 MK7.5 Golf Match 1.0l in White (last gasp of the great Golf IMHO - one of the last imported from Wolfsberg). So - sticking with this theme, I will own two white cars....in a country (Scotland) that has a propensity for snow. Sounds all v.sensible to me. See you online folks. Varaderoguy
