Drone when shifting
The drone noise will be an vibration of the carden shaft being unbalanced. Usually caused by a bearing failure, either a carrier bearing or the worse case scenario is that the Haldex shaft is dry due to lack of fluid in the diff. Either way, time to get it looked at.

Octavia 3 VRS TDI 184 4x4 with many extras
The cars first wash today and wax. I use Autoglym products because they seem to work well with Skoda paints. It is now looks considerably nicer. A scratch on the right hand side rear (previous owners poor parking me thinks) has all been buff out via Autoglym Scratch Remover. My husband has also applied some Super Resin Polish to the rear half of the car. It looks amazing. Meanwhile internally, the car has had a clean and has had leather treatment applied to the half leather interior. Headrests, steering wheel and all leather panels have been treated with Autoglym Leather Cleaner and Treatment. Leather feels supple again. Vinyl and Rubber Care has been applied to internal door panels and door entrance panels. It all smells better too (instead of a fake cherry smell the car came with, it now smells clean and fresh). Went around and touched up some stone chips on the paint work (bonnet mainly).

Octavia 3 VRS TDI 184 4x4 with many extras
The local La La Looney Bin which my husband would probably like to commit me to most days.....for buying too many Skoda's. More photos to come hopefully tomorrow when it maybe washing day for the car. It needs a jet wash and plenty of TLC.

Octavia 3 VRS TDI 184 4x4 with many extras
Blimey - already an update (I'm inpatient).... 1) I removed the Silica Teabag from the coolant system. REALLY glad I did that as it was ~just~ on the edge of splitting. Eyk.... 2) Number 9 is now done: Fitted - Kopacek VRS Boot Mat LED Boot Lights LED Door Lights with VRS Down Projectors (also from my old car) Skoda Warning Triangle Skoda First Aid Kit (in Czech) Floor Mats were purchased new from the selling dealer. Bonnet Struts Fitted upgraded LED Lights to the front courtesy lights (2 LEDs) - got another lot arriving soon from ebay for the rears.... Superskoda / Kopacek equipment ordered: Mud Flaps (front and back), Puddle Spots, LED Audi Indicators, Alloy Footrest, and VRS seat inserts..... Headlight restorer polish ordered: I've also got to put in a Dashcam to keep me covered for my insurance..... Been out in the car today with my other half - it is a SUPER lovely car to drive.....I am loving it as much as my Scout (so that is saying a lot). P.S. I think the car is called Rabbie....but that name could change.

Start stop errors
If you can get some readings from the CANBUS system (via ODBELEVEN or VCDS, that would be amazing). That will give us info about what the car is unhappy about.

MK3 VRS LED Fog lights
You might need the assistance of @langers2k to assist you with the coding. VCDS will get you there (assuming you have a genuine copy). We just need an appropriate car to match yours to (for coding purposes)

Have I bought a lemon?
Good call. Actually, if you have a 66 plate, it's probably a DQ250 box and officially it needs replacement oil and filter every 40k miles. Whilst you are there, consider getting the HALDEX done too. To do a proper HALDEX service, you need to replace the gauce filter on the pump as well as the oil. A decent independent VW can do that for you

Octavia 3 VRS TDI 184 4x4 with many extras
From the House of Too Many Skoda's; Dear all, Recently picked up and traded in my Octavia 3 VRS TSI for a similar year but older mileage TDI. However, the TDI is something a bit special. The selling dealer didn't really know what they had 🤣 so undersold the car massively. It has many many factory fitted options (over 212 shown on Erwin) Bad for them, good for me, but this is not a perfect car. It will be a high days and holidays car as well as a project car. From the top: It is a Quartz Grey 2018 TDI 2.0 4x4 with ACC. The car has over 58000 miles on the clock but drives like a car that has done 20000 miles fewer. It has: KESSY, finger touch opening on door handle, Dynamic Chassis Control, 4x4, sun roof, flappy paddles, full winter pack, tow bar and 18" wheels plus a 6 speed DQ 250 auto box plus all the usual VRS features. My local dealer (oddly enough the same dealer who originally sold the car from new) gave it a clean bill of health but there is a list as long as your arm to look at (because I'm a perfectionist). 1) Battery - it's on the edge of acceptability. The standard VAG battery tester shows it just to be in the green but it loose voltage very quickly in the cooler weather up here on Scotland. I'm looking at a high-end BOSCH battery to replace it with. 2) The windscreen is scratched to hell and has an almighty crack from a stone on the edge of the passenger side. I put new windscreen wipers on but it needs replacing. I'll see how much a new screen from Autoglass will cost. It looks horrible. 3) The headlights are scratched to buggery. I'm going to try some Autoglym headlight rejuvenater for starters but it could be two new headlights if push comes to shove. 4) The interior is clean - a horrible scratch on the passenger side dash needs some attention. It also needs a full leather clean on the half leather interior. 5) Header tank....needs a new one due to Silicon bag nonsense. That should stop that ticking timebomb. 6) The selling dealer has identified that whilst a HALDEX oil change has been done, nobody has cleaned the filter to the pump. I'll book it in shortly to have that done. 7) The paint work needs attention. We are going to deal with stone chips galore (especially around the rear off-side). It needs a proper clean and detail too. 8) All the usual SuperSkoda accessories to be applied. Bright Boot lights, Puddle Spots and interior lights to be installed. Front and Rear Mudguards (because it's the Scottish Borders and the roads are rubbish), LED Audi style Indicators, Alloy-Style foot rest (to match up with rest of the car pedals), VRS seat handle inserts. That will do for starters. 9) From my old VRS, I have transferred: Kopacek VRS Boot Mat LED Boot Lights Skoda Warning Triangle Skoda First Aid Kit (in Czech) Floor Mats were purchased new from the selling dealer. Bonnet Struts 10) It needs a proper 17" full sized or 18" skinny spare (I'm not doing foam because it's useless). To be purchased. 11) Things done already: Firmware 0478 has been applied to the MIB2.5 system. I've enable a small number of options via ODBEleven but I need a nice quiet day with my laptop and VCDS to really enable lots of options (like Lights Assist, Traffic Sign Assist) and other tweaks like enabling the second fog light. I'll be speaking with @SashaGrace and @langers2k for their advice on what to do to make this beasty amazing. 12) My husband has informed me that the dashboard plastic cover is badly scratched. It needs replacing.

Clock
Basically what you are seeing is an unset clock without being synchronised. What should probably happen is that the value of time from the GPS signal should be written to memory but it occasionally isn't. The situation is made worse if you have a low battery on your car (MIB occasionally internally resets time and date) causing odderites.

I’ve only gone and done it!
I know that @langers2k did document on how to extract files onto an SD Card. @Al123 If you are stuck, let me know and for a small fee, I'll prep up a SDcard with the firmware update on it and send it down (no warranty thought) 😀

Weird Head unit lockup
0478 (SOP4) for Bolaro and Amundsen fixes a shed load of bugs for the MIB system. In most cases, it is easier to remove and reinstall your phone onto your MIB2/2.5 system will fix connect and disconnect issues. Otherwise the connectivity and Carplay will be glitchy. Most dealers are not up to speed with what to do with the MIB system, so glad you have sorted out the system.

I’ve only gone and done it!
So @Al123 are you happy with what to do with your firmware file. I have written a guide on how to apply it if you need assistance.
-
I’ve only gone and done it!
Okay. You need 0478 and I will.tag @pab567 who will hopefully be able to send you the appropriate file.

I’ve only gone and done it!
Might I suggest that if you press and hold MENU, then go into the Version information, take a photo of the information presented on the screen - there maybe a fix to the slightly dull sound by a firmware update. There are lots of options to enable - including enabling Skoda Surround.

Selecting alternative route with Amundsen
@Seasider - suggest you see whether there are any major firmware updates for your Kamiq. The fact that you lost your navigation screen says that: a) The system turned itself onto Standby and presented the 'clock' as default. Press the Power On button would have got your screen back. b) The latest MIB3 systems are buggy as heck. There are minor updates you should be able to download yourself, but suspect there maybe larger firmware updates to be installed by the dealer to fix any 'operational' issues.

Pitch perfect: ŠKODA’s new auto-tune function puts an end to out-of-tune singing
ARHHHHHHHHHH. Autotune comes to a car.

Amundsen (MIB2) - Firmware update. Can you DIY it?
Oh goodness me. There are multiple threads on firmware updates. In terms of updates, the man of the moment for firmware updates is @pab567. I've written up a process for updating Amunsden and Bolero which you can find here: For those of you looking for maps updates, please also look at the https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/7-skoda-audio-electronics-and-security/ section of the forum.

Weird engine noise
I suspect this is the timing belt tensioner going southwards. Happened on my 2019 Scout. There is a TPI issue with the tensioners and the belts catching - causing a metallic clanky noise. Dealer sorted it under warranty.

I’ve only gone and done it!
Well, Yes - you can. It is entirely down to HOW you setup the Bluetooth connectivity. All FL Octavia's have the soft-touch (no buttons) MIB systems that support Bluetooth 4.0 protocol. On that basis, to get your wife's mobile to play its music, both phones must also support BT4.0 [anything about 2-3 years old should be fine], you must setup the MIB system to accept audio as following: OP's mobile - setup a Bluetooth connection, DISABLE A2DP audio connection (you can only make phone calls) Wife's mobile - setup a Bluetooth connection, ENABLE A2DP audio connection (you can make phone calls and listen to audio). Android Auto takes more resources and also has its own platform which doesn't support more than just its own connection.

Loss Of COOLANT
As @ordsas mentioned; it will probably be a weeping water/coolant pump which is a known weakness on all early MK3's. Check on the floor around this area. If that's not looking like an issue, then its the cap to the expansion tank (they also fail) leaking out hot coolant. Get the waterpump changed out and do the timing belt whilst you are there (sorry, several hundred euros worth of work).

Subwoofer location in Estate -- thoughts?
If you work on the 'formal' solution, you can put the base speaker in either the front of the dash in the middle (where the Canton system has its base) or you can put in the space where the spare wheel lives (a SEAT/Audi option). Speak with @SashaGrace or look towards the end of the Sasha's VRS thread in the Octavia 3 section for more info.

White smoke when putting your foot down
You will need to take it on a good fast spin - white smoke will disappear.
-
Factory reverse cam static
So - its going to be either a problem with the power to the camera or the video feed to the camera is failing. Suspect it is the video feed (because if it was power to the camera, you would see some visual artifacting from the camera powering up and down).

Anyone know when MY2019 2.0TDI started production?
Yes - you can do that for yourself. if you go to Skoda erwin - https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/erwin/showHome.do (do an hour's fee) you can put in the VIN number of your car and get its option codes
