Crazy car design
Very ugly, cheap and nasty design IMHO - and very 'hippo' like. The Chinese do much better than BMW these days.

Dash warning lights after battery charged
If it's anything like other Skodas just take it for a drive and do a full left lock to full right lock and back turn of the steering wheel.

Suggestions to cure a leaking tailgate, please
Take a look at teh rear wiper gromet between the wiper spindle and the glass - that's where our Kodiaq was leaaking - between the gromet and the glass.

How to keep our Roomster on the road
I reckon this could be bang on and is pretty typical of the sort of electrical failure you described. It's a known design fault and a relatively easy fix as I seem to recall a repair kit being available for the Fabia that had longer wires to overcome the problem of vibration pulling them apart at the connector. To me it sounds like the temperature lights are doing what they should and the back liquid dripping from the exhaust is simply condensation mixed with exhaust residue within the exhaust itself.

How to keep our Roomster on the road
It's simply a very crude temperature guauge... Cold or below normal operating temperature range /. In range / too high or low coolant level.

Strange wires in boot?
Just ignore them. They are used to check for water leaks during production and are not removed and served no other purpose.

Manual 2018 Karoq reverse issues
What's the brake fluid like? They share the fluid between the clutch and brakes and that sounds a bit like air in the system or a leaking clutch release cylinder.

Battery change causing potential major damage?
The radio reception issues will probably need a new aerial base to sort them out. It has an amplifier built in to it and they can suffer water ingress which corroded the circuit board and stops them working.

Battery change causing potential major damage?
Pete has beaten me to it... With a MK2 you should be fine. You'll probably get some error messages initially but a drive around the block and a full left full right turn of the steering should clear them.

Not very Illuminated.
That's par for the course - The part of the rear lights on the boot lid only illuminate in higher spec versions - it's the same with all models - Octavia through to Kodiaq etc.

Throttle lag resolution
That'll be down to gear ratios and, if I recall correctly and you're talking about 0-60s, whether a gear change is necessary. I still maintain that the issue is how quickly the DSG take up is from standstill after you press the throttle and how that is controlled by the electronics, as opposed to having that control via a manual and clutch (a manual it can be partially engaged before you even press the throttle whereas a DSG will only engage after you press the throttle. Just my experience from driving both versions...
-
Throttle lag resolution
personally I have no real issues but then I have a manual gearbox. My thought is therefore that it's a DSG take up issue that people are complaining about - and that's an issue common to most automatics, regardless of type in my experience.

the truth about electric cars
Re compounds on heavy ICE vehicles a lot will depend on things like brake size and type and the vehicles place in the market and model line up (prestige or not sporty or not, top of range or not etc). They could have larger brakes with the same compounds as ordinary ICE vehicles or not. EVs may have smaller brakes with higher friction compounds to help keep weight down. Either way a large reduction in dust due to regeneration is welcome but it needs to be balanced with compound toxicity and human exposure levels regarding risk to human health. For example a 39% reduction in exposure to a compound that is twice as toxic would still be worse than no reduction in a base compound.

the truth about electric cars
That's why EV pads tend to be on galvanised backing plates with different glues and mechanical connection between the pad and backing.
-
the truth about electric cars
Form what I understand EVs can create more dust than a non EV when brakes are used for the equivalent stopping due to thier increased weight etc. but use less overall due to regeneration. However they also generally have different pad compounds to increase friction values to compensate for the increased weight etc. and those compounds tend to be more toxic when released as brake dust.

*******s - there are many easy ways to crash a car even with an ADAS system.

the truth about electric cars
All cars seem to be getting hellish expensive in my experience... There's no way I'd buy new these days and even second hand prices seem daft at times for the mileages quoted.

the truth about electric cars
Agreed! Polo GTI's a re a bit 'niche' though - you'd be better off comparing prices of a non-GTI...

Blimey - that's hideous! I hope Renault quality has improved significantly since the days of the Laguna that my FIL had...

Sump plug stripped
Now there's a blast from the past!! I was sponsored through Uni by Dowty... Working at the training centre and Fuel Systems in Cheltenham, Rotol at Staverton and Mining Equipment (next to Seals) at Tewkesbury over a period of 4 years... I still use my Dowty Seals mug coaster I 'found' to this day in my current job some 38 years later...
