Well todays update isnt particularly a good one...

I expected my insurance to drop but my renewal has came through at around 5 grand!

Somthing daft like A deposit of £1,100 and then 11 monthly payments of £400....

I may just sell both my fabias and work van and buy a house, ide rather pay towards a mortage than waste it on car insurance....

Anyway, some more eBay goodies came in the post today, will post pictures later or tomorrow.

I've just turned 20 not long ago. I've rang the insurance company and they said its because of a claim on one of the drivers or somthing and said i need to talk to the claimes department, who are open 9 till 5, no help when im out the house by 8 and dont get in till after 6 most the time, when anyone els rings they ask to speak to proposer first to confirm the other person can speak on behalf of them.

anyway, now with axa insurance at £140 a month and a deposit of £260, alot more reasonable for me anyway!

The Update!

All but one of the eBay goodies have arrived today! :)

First up - Skoda dust caps, bought two sets of these one for each car. seem very good quality, have quite abit weight to them really but just what i wanted anyway. paid that tiny bit extra for the spanner with the skoda badge on which sealed the deal for me.... only to find it doesnt actually fit the dust caps :wonder:

Next up, more led lights, they looked better than the other ones i bought, got 6 of these in total but since its done nothing but rain, i havnt tried any of them yet, so no pictures in action im afraid. I've bought 6 since they didnt cost much and i kind of expect them to have a short life but i may be proven wrong yet. Will use them as side lights & interior map lights if they are better than the previous ones bought.

Oh and i've forgot to mention that the reg bulb & interiour bulbs i got wernt the correct size. I bought a set of two x 42mm bulbs, i'd say for the interior light you need 44mm bulbs and for the reg bulbs around 36mm. The interior light fitted no problem, just bent the metal very slightly closer together which fixed that, but had to bend the boot ones more than i should have, so in future would recommend those sizes.

Nice thread :) watch out for those wipers at high speeds...

Watch out for those wipers at high speeds...

Eh?? Why?

On another note, Make sure you put some grease on those valve caps threads before you fit them... I've lost count of the amount I've had seize onto the valve now... Don't bother with em nowerdays.

Can't speak for all of them but...A mate bought some from ace parts on ebay & they disintegrated on the motorway, had to fix them with cable ties until he could get a replacement :S Not good when on a trip to Devon in the pouring rain :(

Check those dust caps very carefully. Make sure that there are rubber washers in the top of them. I had a set that let my tyres down 'cos there were no washers.

how did the exhaust sound after? was there much difference in the end?

I havnt drove the car with them on yet but i know where your coming from! They seem really poor quality tbh, as i said in another post... i bought a different set last year for less than that price and they are spot on! made by edge or somthing similar i think....

i can only wait and see how then turn out, but i imagine i'll be taking the edge ones off the sdi before i sell it and put these on since i've bought them now!

I've had them on about a week and had no problems, but i'll take one off and check to put anyones mind at rest.

I actually put some copper slip on them as it was all i had to hand, only put a little bit on the threads so should do the job just fine.

All in all, pretty much no difference at all, it has a very slightly different tone but you can still hear the engine over the exhaust rather than a very loud exhaust and nothing els!

Im very happy with the result though, looks spot on with the vrs bumper fitted as well :)
