CitiGo-Go, a Citigo with more Go.

Featured Replies

Actually my Yeti is done.

Until we move to phase two this winter and fit a 2.0tsi.

While progress on the Citigo is slow it will be done one way or another by the end of the year, in time for meets and track days next year.

I know the time it's taking has become something of a standing Briskoda joke, but these things take time.  It certainly doesn't provide encouragement.

I could have had it cracked out in six months or so, but the cost would have been astronomical.  Like 80k.  A lot to fund in a short time.

It's being done around other jobs for a sensible price, by a garage that have had a few staffing issues.

No, I'm not over the moon about it.  But we have to keep plugging on.  Not sure what other options there are?

We need to finish building the car back up, now everything is known to fit.  Then a wiring loom and mapping.

I'm around £38k into the build, so pulling the plug isn't an option.

Especially considering the total predicted cost of just under £50k is firm as all the main parts are bought and built.

The expanding timescale had also had some fringe benefits, like allowing me to spread the cost of the project and do other stuff like the GT-R, Skyline and Yeti VRS...

something this insane is worth every little bit of money!! keep going rich!! cant wait and btw this has been an awesome read for a very boring day at work ah

  • Yes.   One painted Citigo 4x4 shell and plans made for the next stage. Rebuild basics to allow for the loom to be made are being done over the next two weeks. Then a motorsport electrical speciali

You're basically designing a new concept car on the hop, it takes big name manufacturers with huge pockets as long, I think you've done well to have it almost there in 2yrs!

However a "big name manufacturer" would have to jump through hoops with NCAP tests and type approval etc.

How do you stand with SVA?

Never dealt with them personally but family who have done kit cars always found them really helpful.

Psst... I meant Richard ;)

Psst... I meant Richard ;)

Oh sorry, I was just reading the conversation. :D

I could IVA it if I wanted, but not sure I'll bother.

Who on earth wants to drive a 450+bhp 4x4 Citigo on the road with race suspension and a sequential box.

I bought my little trailer exactly for taking it to events.

Fortunately it also turned out to be just large enough for Fabias too.

"got beat by grandads Citigo yo...."

Anyway how it coming along? :)

Expect to see progress at a sensible pace towards the end of the month.

Credit to you for keeping it going! More progress than my Fabia :)

That Capri was probably still in it's prime when it was picked up LOL. With recovery trucks you have to get their first!

May I suggest you expand your bus service to vehicle recovery/ delivery as well? ;)

+1 on this!

Ill be your number one customer!

Don't take that away from my Clio :)

I think you both would keep Richard in the recovery business for his next 10 lifetimes with your cars at times. :p

It's got a dead battery so he hasn't got to worry until I start driving again

Who wouldn't? I don't think I'd get tired of the utterly embarrasing chavlings in their pimped up Saxos for a good few months.

Personally I think it'll be too fast for road driving if driven as intended and as it'll be set up for track days it'll be rather uncomfortable on UK poor quaility roads.

Think seats with minimal padding, very firm suspension and a shortwheelbase leading to nodding dog impressions over lumps and bumps.

Not saying I won't at some stage, but I can't really see the point.

My Yeti (300bhp) already embarresses most things on the road and that's due to hit 400bhp over winter.

I think what people forget about this project is that's it's going to have significantly more bhp per kg than a Nissan GT-R or Porker 911 Turbo, with no electronic safety aids.

In other words, it's going to be a handful.

Nice way to slip in the fact the Yeti's getting a power upgrade, I nearly missed that :D I really hate to think what the Citygo would be like, my lowered Monte is giving the wife back trouble (at least she won't sit next to me and nag)

Its getting a new engine isn't it Boss?

Puff ;-)

Seriously though, that does sound like an absolute nightmare on the pot hole strewn abominations that masquerade as roads nowadays though...

Cannot wait to see it destroying all and sundry on the track though!

How heavy is it going to be when finished roughly?

Don't know.

Around 1,100kg would be good considering it's 4x4.

Hope it's not too heavy, ie over 1,200kg.

Aim was always around 400bhp per tonne.
