  • Wow! A bit of a fly on the wall comment in jest has been turned into me supposedly taking the credit for the size of the thread!?! Err...ok...   Just to clarify, I have far more important things to

  • Apologies is this thread is going a bit "off topic", but I'll carry on anyway as there is Golf R content... This is my personal experience of the S3, Golf R and M135i and the respective test drives.

Christ. When you say it like that it makes sense. £22,000 is loads if money to buy a fiesta ST for the back roads and then have plenty of change.

Hes a football man is he?

My dad used to get a really good company car list (hes primarily a bike person bike does enjoy cars). Out of everything on there he had a top of the range golf sportline with the cr140 DSG and most of the extras boxes ticked. Was nice. He was happy spending an 80-90 hour week at work and about 70% of that driving.

Even after he retired he missed the car and couldnt understand what more he could want lol.

Usually ends this way lol

Yeah he loves his football and is looking at an automatic barge with leather for the miles! Saab 9-3 is standing out! Did look at a Fabia etc

Yeah looking for a car for him is a nightmare I've gone from Fabia vRS 2013 to Audi A8 2004 to BMW 530D to Vectra to a Saab now onto Octy or a Fab mk1 vrs

Boss,

Have you been out for your extended test drive yet or are  you planning one ?

Edited by vrskeith

Not had chance yet.

Also slightly concerned I'll want to buy one. :D

Having missed out on the cheap deals it feels alien to me to then pay more.

Where are the photos of your mean-machine Keith? Want to see some of the beast!

If we don't set eyes on it soon I might have to "call custard" on this Golf R..... Lol ;-)

Had an email today offering the Golf R for only £1200 + vat deposit & £199.99 + vat per month on 10K miles per year for 2 years.

Limited slots available, but that's a hell of a deal!!

From who?

Even with the VAT, it's a lot of car for the money.

Been round to my uncles tonight, had a look around and went out in his 1 week old Golf R.

They are really nice arent they. All the practicality of a hatchback, but with abit of added oomph.

The interior is a really nice place to be aswel, with the full leather etc.

Didnt really stick it round any corners so i didnt get to see what the 4 wheel drive is like, but in a straight line its pretty quick.

He keeps it in 'race' mode all the time for the added exhaust note n that.

Nice cars. I like!

Just a personal preference thing, i know...

But the R does look better in blue. It needs to be blue or black. I dont know why my uncle got the red tbh.

Red is a GTI colour haha.
