Is this guy from Pistonheads useless or have I missed the Report about taking the cars (Golf R and M135i etc.) for a bit of driving fun up into Wales.

It would appear that Pistonheads has had a fair bit of flack over the pathetic quality of its last article.As it's currently blocked

There was a tentative promise of trip to the Welsh good driving routes and other vehicle measured  comparisons, which never happened and now he appears to be moving on to tuning! 

 

So between the two - Journos / marketing /whatever, a bit of unprofessional FU imo. 

It seems the sound comes into constant criticism, but when I think back to my earlier cars, I had 4 cylinder cars that were considered to sound great -Fiat Lancia twin cams and Scoobys. The Scooby has an interesting sound for obvious reasons and is almost unique except Porsche is now about to launch it's own 4 cylinder versions. Alfas too had a great sounding engine and not forgetting the old Honda R. So I draw from this that it isn't the exhaust note that disappoints but the engine itself :( I'm not just referring to the VW engine, but also BMWs, Mercs Hondas, etc  Perhaps manufacturers need to engineer real induction noise into the car somehow (yes I know turbos strangle this). Rather than pipe plastic noise in, they must be capable of making and engine sing even with a big muffling turbo bolted on. Come on engine bods, give us something to excite us

Just having a birthday treat visiting my two eldest lads,watching Palace v Arsenal.

So 100 miles up average speed M4 then South Circular ,with diversions, 58 mph returning 38.5 mpg. Bloody pleased with that,in ECO.

I'd like to park next to that S3, it looks incredibly similar to BMW's Mineral Grey. It has that slight blue edge to it, if you know what I mean.

Have to say, I have a real soft spot for the 'R' but that S3 just shouts total class whilst still maintaining a look that says 'Im able to rip a strip from someone if they mess'. I like it! What grey is it btw?
